[Clinical trials of solcoseryl in the treatment of parodontium diseases]. / Ocena kliniczna solcoserylu w leczeniu chorób przyzebia.

The effect of Solcoseryl on the clinical state of the parodontium was assessed in 26 patients aged from 18 to 57 years with the diagnosis of deep parodontopathies. Each patient received 30 ampoules of 2 ml of Solcoseryl for one course of the treatment. Submucous injections of the drug near the teeth 13, 23, 33 and 43 were done as follows: during the first 10 days one ampoule daily, then 10 injections every other day, and 10 injections at three-day intervals. The condition of the parodontium was assessed before and after the treatment by means of the PI, GI, GBI and teeth mobility indices, and measurements of the depth of gingival pouches--K, and volume of fluid in pouches SFFR according to Brill. The therapeutic method applied in these cases had a good effect on reduction of gingivitis, bleeding and volume of secreted pouch fluid but had only a small effect on teeth mobility and depth of gingival pouches.

[Determinations of magnesium, iron and copper in the saliva of healthy subjects]. / Badanie zawartosci magnezu, zelaza i miedzi w slinie ludzi zdrowych.

In 70 healthy subjects aged from 7 to 60 years centrifuged mixed, resting saliva obtained before breakfast was analysed for the presence of magnesium, iron and copper. The studied group was divided into three subgroups: I--7 to 14 years, II--18 to 28 years, and III--from 48 to 60 years. Significant age-related differences were found in the magnesium content between group I and II and between I and III. No statistically significant differences were observed in the content of iron and copper, and in the values of the iron-copper index between the analysed subgroups depending on sex and on age.

[Late results of treatment of deep periodontopathies with plastic operations of the gingiva and alveolar process]. / Odlegle wyniki leczenia periodontopatii glebokich zabiegami plastycznymi dziasla i wyrostka zebodolowego.

The effect was assessed of plastic operations on the gingiva and alveolar process by a method similar to the Cieszynski-Widman-Neumann technique on the condition of the parodontium in 133 patients aged from 13 to 58 years. For evaluation of the condition of parodontium Kötzschke's index and Engelberger's et al. radiological index were used and the oral vestibule was measured. Control examinations were done 2-15 years after the treatment. After surgical treatment reduction of the pathological gingival pouches was observed in 88.7% of the patients, while gingivitis was alleviated in 85.1% of cases. Kötzschke's periodontopathy index was improved in 86.5% of cases, and dental mobility decreased in 64.6% of cases. The radiological index demonstrated regeneration of bone in 60.1% of the surgically treated cases in the range from 1.0 to 3.5%, and in 4.5% of cases bone atrophy was stopped. However, denudation of dental roots increased in 66.1% of cases. After surgical treatment narrowing of the width of the alveolar gingiva was by 0.4 mm in 77.5%, the depth of the vestibule was reduced by 0.3 mm in 57.5% of cases, and the "pull syndrome" manifested itself in only 9.8% of cases.

[Extension of the gingival zone with grafts of hard palate mucosa in the treatment of deep periodontal pathology]. / Poszerzenie strefy dziasla przeszczepami blony sluzowej podniebienia twardego w leczeniu periodontopatii glebokich.

In 28 patients aged 25 to 54 years (mean 34.5 years) with the diagnosis of deep parodontopathy the gingival zone was extended in the mandible from one to the cotrolateral canine tooth using grafts of hard palate mucosa. In the initial and in the control examinations the width of the attached gingiva, the depth of the vestibule, the depth of the gingival pouches and the denudation of roots were measured. The clinical status of the parodontium was evaluated using the indices GI, GBI, PI, the index of teeth mobility R of Focke, the X-ray index EMR, and the oral hygiene index OHI. In all patients after the treatment permanent widening of the gingival zone was observed with a significant improvement of the mean values of the analysed parameters.

[Influence of intraoral douches over the parodontium state and leucocytes activity in patients treated in the sanatorium of Swieradow Zdroj]. / Wplyw natrysków wewnatrzustnych na stan przyzebia i czynnosc leukocytów u pacjentów leczonych sanatoryjnie w Swieradowie Zdroju.

Using the following indices: gingival--GI, of gingivorrhoea--GBI, of parodontium--PI and of dental deposit--DI and the measure of the gingival pockets' depth and pocket fluid clinical estimation has been performed in 33 men with parodontium inflammation before and after the set 15 balneological procedures. Leucocytes and other morphotic elements in the pockets have been estimated on Styrophlex straps. Examinations of the peripheral blood have comprised NBT spontaneous test and stimulated by concanavalin, phagocytosis and chemotaxis. After treatment considerable clinical improvement, decrease in pocket fluid excretion reduction in the number of granulocytes and increase in epithelial cells' percentage in the gingival pockets as well as existence of disturbances in granulocytes function of the peripheral blood expressed by reduced chemotaxis and phagocytosis have been found.
