RESUMO

Restrictive cardiomyopathy is the least common type of primary cardiomyopathies. Electrocardiographic recording is abnormal in 99% of patients with RCM. Biatrial enlargement, obliquely elevated ST segment with notched or biphasic late peaking T waves are considered characteristic ECG finding. Significant ST depression with T inversion mimicking subendocardial ischemia has also been reported in patients with RCM and is even suggested as a predictor of sudden cardiac death. We noted a similar ECG pattern in a 16 yr girl with Idiopathic restrictive cardiomyopathy. Coronaries were normal, stress perfusion imaging did not show any perfusion defect. This diffuse resting ST depression with T inversion in precordial & inferior leads along with ST elevation in aVR was persistent for more than six months.

RESUMO

Various cranial and facial measurements were taken on 300 adult skulls available in the Department of Anatomy, S. N. Medical College, Agra and the cranio facial indices were calculated. When the measurements were statistically analysed, we have found a positive correlation between the basion prosthion length and the maximum cranial length, maximum cranial breadth and the bizygomatic breadth, nasion prosthion length and basion bregmatic height, and the palatal breadth and palatal length. The regression line between the various pairs of parameters were also calculated and a regression formula derived.

RESUMO

The pattern of sexually transmitted disease (STD) in a public clinic in Madurai City, India, was studied for 10 years (1974-83). Syphilis was found to be the most common STD in men (28.3%) and trichomoniasis in women (39.6%). The tropical STDs (chancroid, lymphogranuloma venereum, and granuloma inguinale) formed a sizeable proportion (30.1%) of all STDs. A tendency to overdiagnose chancroid and lymphogranuloma venereum and a failure to detect many cases of gonorrhoea reflected a lack of laboratory facilities.

RESUMO

Various measurements of the head and face were made on 500 male medical students of the S.N. College, Agra (India) and the possible indices were calculated. The regression lines were calculated between the nasal index and the upper facial index as well as between nasal index and the total facial index. A significant correlation was found between the above three indices. A formula was derived, by which if one index is known the other can be calculated.

RESUMO

A total number of 1,410 calcanei of either sex belonging to people of Agra and Lucknow region were studied and classified into 4 types depending upon the pattern of peroneal tubercle. A significant difference in the incidence of various types in the two regions were observed.

RESUMO

We describe a chancriform papule, a typically chancre like lesion, which was situated well away from the genital area in a patient diagnosed as having secondary syphilis. The diagnosis was confirmed by dark field microscopy, the effectiveness of antisyphilitic treatment, and the presence of a preputial scar.

RESUMO

The incidence of Os japonicum has been studied in 500 Uttar Pradesh crania, and is found to be 4%. Typical bipartile zygomatic bone das present in 40 instances. In 6 bones only a horizontal groove was seen on the temporal surface. In one skull the zygomatic process of maxilla and the zygomatic process of the temporal bone were articulating directly on the temporal surface of the zygomatic bone. In another skull the maxilla and the temporal bone were articulating with each other along the lower border of the zygomatic bone, giving the appearance of a tripartile condition. The cause and significance of this trait is discussed in the light of available literature.

RESUMO

50 corrosion casts of Chick portal vein were studied to observe the various intrahepatic patterns of portal vein. The liver was supplied by right and left portal veins. Each one entered the liver through separate hilus. The right lobe of the liver received its portal supply from 2 principal veins: a right dorsal and a right ventral. In addition to the above 2 principal veins 2 minor veins were also observed in majority of cases--one supplied the central region (68%) and other the ventral region (52%) of the right lobe. The left lobe of the liver received its portal blood through left dorsal, left ventral and left intermediate veins. The various sites of origin of the veins of the portal system have been described.

RESUMO

500 adult human skulls available in the Department of Anatomy, S. N. Medical College, Agra (India) were studied for the presence/absence of 32 epigenetic variants. The percentage of occurrence of these variants is compared with that of skulls of different countries. The factors affecting these variants are discussed in the light of available literature.

RESUMO

230 adult Indian tali (from Agra region) were studied for the incidence of squatting facets. Extension of medial articular facet was observed in all the cases. Medial extension of trochlea was observed in 37% of cases; lateral extension of trochlea in 71.6% of cases, lateral squatting facets in 43.5% of cases and medial squatting in 8.6% of cases. The present data are compared with that of other workers.

RESUMO

The various patterns in calcanean articular facets of 500 Indian tali have been observed and classified accordingly. Type I tali have one flat facet on plantar surface of its head (16%); Type II tali, the calcanean facet were divided into 2 parts by a indistinct or prominent ridge (78%); Type III tali, the calcanean articular facet was partly separated by nonarticular groove and partly by ridge (1%); Type IV tali have 2 articular facets on the plantar surface of head separated by nonarticular groove (3%); and Type V tali have a single facet on the plantar surface of head and this facet was continuous with the posterior calcanean facet (2%).
