RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Women's birthing experience is a sensitive indicator of the quality of childbirth care and can impact the physical and mental health of both women and their neonates. Negligible evidence exists on Indian women's birth experiences and-to the best of authors' knowledge-no questionnaire has been tested in India for measuring women's birthing experiences. This study aimed to test the construct validity and reliability of the Kannada-translated Revised Childbirth Experience Questionnaire. METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional survey was carried out among postnatal women (n = 251, up to six months postpartum, with a live healthy neonate) who had given birth at a public or private health facility using the Kannada-translated CEQ2 in two districts of Karnataka. Data were collected at participants' homes after seeking written informed consent. Model fit was determined by Confirmatory Factor Analyses. RESULTS: The 4-factor model of the CEQ2 showed good fit after deletion of one item (item 8, subcategory "participation") with CMIN = 1.33; SRMR = 0.04; GFI = 0.92, CFI = 0.98, TLI = 0.99, RMSEA = 0.037 and p value 0.002). The Cronbach alpha values were acceptable for the four subscales (0.92, 0.93, 0.97, 0.91) as well as for the overall 21-item scale (0.84). CONCLUSIONS: The Kannada-translated CEQ2 is a reliable tool to measure the childbirth experiences among Kannada-speaking women and can serve as a reliable ongoing evaluation of women's birth experiences.

RESUMO

The aim of this study is to enhance medication adherence amidst COVID-19 with the help of active reminders. Effect of: patients' perception of side effect, importance of physicians' instructions, and their beliefs, on medication adherence were measured. Sample size was 583. The study was conducted in the state of Sikkim in India. Responses were analyzed and a structural equation model was framed to test the paths. It was found that reminders had a significant impact on patients' perception about importance given to physician instruction ( ß = 0.433 ) and their beliefs ( ß = 0.224 ). These mediators helped to increase the adherence rate of patients. Supplementary Information: The online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1140/epjs/s11734-022-00532-7.

RESUMO

The problem of medication non-adherence has persisted over decades. The rate of adherence decreases with time and improvement in health condition. When patients cannot follow their prescribed medication regime, it leads to deterioration of their health condition and increases their financial costs. This research aims to find the effect of reminder on medication adherence behaviour of patients when "Acceptance of Side Effect", "Quality of Life" and "Medication Beliefs" act as mediators. The sample size of the research was 505. Sampling units comprised patients suffering from different diseases in Central Referral Hospital, Sikkim, India. By developing a Structural Equation Model, the effect of reminder on the mediators and adherence was analysed. The results show a significant positive association between reminder and the three mediators. Reminder has a significant positive effect on adherence (ß=0.637, e=0.055, p=0.001). The effect is higher in the presence of mediators (ß=0.7, e=0.037, p=0.001).

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Factors affecting job satisfaction of home health nurses are studied. METHODS: PSS-10, CBI and HHNJS are used to measure the perceived stress, burnout of home health nurses and Job Satisfaction. RESULTS: The significant predictors for Job satisfaction were Relationship with organization, Autonomy and control, Salary and Benefits as 82% of variation in job satisfaction was explained by these, (F change (3, 144) = 236.72, p < .001). CONCLUSION: Agencies should work upon improving the dimensions such as the "relationship with the organization", "Autonomy and control" and "Salary and Benefits" to increases the Job satisfaction of home health nurses.

RESUMO

Quality of pharmaceutical product largely depends upon the environment controls during its storage and handling. Each pharmaceutical product should be handled and stored under specified storage condition labelled on product information data sheet or product pack. Hence the temperature excursions during receipt of raw materials, manufacturing of pharmaceutical products and distribution should be managed during entire product life cycle with holistic approach. The research is based on primary data and exploratory study through literature review. The temperature excursion may be observed during transportation of raw materials manufacturing as well as distribution of pharmaceutical products, which have potential to deteriorate the product quality. Temperature excursion in pharmaceutical industry should be recorded and reported to the manufacturer for further investigation and risk analysis. The concept of temperature excursions, its reasons, consequences and handling mechanism should be well understood to ensure the concerted efforts under the aegis of Quality Management System. Based on the reasons and consequences of temperature excursions during pharmaceutical operations, a system based quality management has been envisaged through this study. The concept and procedure to handle temperature excursion have evolved after this study which shall be useful to pharmaceutical industry as well as to medicine distributors and consumers.
