RESUMO

This study aimed to explore the expression of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1 (NEAT1) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and its inflammatory regulation mechanism through miR-211/interleukin 10 (IL-10) axis.A total of 75 participants were enrolled in this study: 25 healthy people in the control group, 25 patients with stable angina pectoris (SAP) in the SAP group, and 25 patients with AMI in the AMI group. Real-time qPCR was used to detect mRNA expression levels of NEAT1, miR-211, and IL-10. The interaction between miR-211, NEAT1, and IL-10 was confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay, and protein expression was detected using western blot.High expression of NEAT1 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of patients with AMI was negatively related to serum creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB), cardiac troponin I (cTnI), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), IL-6, and IL-1ß and was positively correlated with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). In THP-1 cells, miR-211 was confirmed to target and inhibit IL-10 expression. NEAT1 knockdown and miR-211-mimic markedly decreased IL-10 protein levels, whereas anti-miR-211 markedly increased IL-10 protein levels. Importantly, miR-211 level was negatively related to NEAT1 and IL-10 levels, whereas IL-10 level was positively related to the level of NEAT1 expression in PBMCs of patients with AMI.LncRNA NEAT1 was highly expressed in PBMCs of patients with AMI, and NEAT1 suppressed inflammation via miR-211/IL-10 axis in PBMCs of patients with AMI.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to evaluate the value of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in the prenatal screening of foetal aneuploidy-associated diseases at different gestational ages. METHODS: Briefly, cell-free foetal DNAs were extracted from plasma first, followed by DNA sequencing and bioinformatics analyses for chromosome aneuploidy (T21, T18, and T13), sex chromosome aneuploidy (SCA), and microdeletion/microduplication. Subsequently, the positive results were subject to karyotype analyses. RESULTS: The pregnant women included in this study were divided into six groups, and the results, such as chromosome diagnoses, and clinical phenotypes, were collected for data analyses. According to the results of the data analysis, the positivity rates of foetal chromosomal abnormalities in pregnant women under 20, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, and >40 years old were 0%, 0.17%, 0.25%, 0.27%, 0.60%, and 1.66%, respectively. The positive predictive value (PPV) in the 20-24 years group was 41.67%, that in the 25-29 years group was 62.5%, that in the 30-34 years group was 66.67%, that in the 35-39 years group was 90.74%, and that in the >40 years group was 90.32%. CONCLUSION: Overall, NIPT detection in elderly pregnant women has excellent clinical application value in reducing the incidence of either birth defects or abortion caused by invasive chromosome examination.

It is critical to diagnose foetal chromosome aneuploidy in time through prenatal screening to prevent birth defects. This study aimed to evaluate the value of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in prenatal screening of foetal aneuploidy-associated diseases at different gestational ages. A retrospective analysis based on NIPT screening data at a medical laboratory was performed. The results showed that the total positivity rate and total positive predictive value of trisomy 21, trisomy 18, and trisomy 13 in older pregnant women (≥35 years old) were significantly higher than those in younger pregnant women, and there was an increasing trend with increasing maternal ages. This study indicated that NIPT detection in elderly pregnant women has an excellent application value in clinical practice to reduce the incidence of birth defects and abortion caused by invasive chromosome examination.

RESUMO

Background: Extensive spinal epidural abscess (SEA) is an exceptional and threatening condition that requires prompt recognition and proper management to avoid potentially disastrous complications. We aimed to find key elements of early diagnosis and rational treatments for extensive SEA. Case presentation: A 70-year-old man complained of intense pain in the cervical-thoracic-lumbar spine that radiated to the lower extremity. Laboratory test results revealed a marked increase in all indicators of infection. The spinal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a ventral SEA extending from C2 to L4. Owing to the patient's critical condition, laminectomy, drainage, and systemic antibiotic therapy were administered. And the multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis was detected in the purulent material from this abscess. Results: Postoperative MRI revealed diminished epidural abscess, and the clinical symptoms were dramatically and gradually relieved after two rounds of surgery and systemic antibiotic therapy involving the combination of ceftriaxone, linezolid, and rifampicin. Conclusions: A comprehensive emergency assessment based on neck or back pain, neurological dysfunctions, signs of systemic infection, and MRI are important for early diagnosis of extensive SEA. Further, the combination of laminectomy, drainage, and systemic antibiotic therapy may be a rational treatment choice for patients with SEA, especially for extensive abscess or progressive neurological dysfunction.

RESUMO

Background: Measuring the Hounsfield units (HU) of the vertebrae may yield diagnostic information for fracture risk. This study aimed to measure HU of vertebrae in percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) patients using computed tomography (CT) imaging to determine the HU measurements threshold for adjacent vertebral fracture and to assess the relationship between HU measurements and the risk of adjacent vertebral fracture. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on consecutive patients who underwent PKP between January 2019 and October 2021 in the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University. The HU of the vertebra was measured on the reconstructed CT images by 2 independent spine surgeons. The HU measurements of adjacent vertebrae and the ratio of HU measurements between the surgical vertebra and adjacent vertebrae were statistically analyzed to determine the best critical value and evaluate the prediction effectiveness and accuracy of the best critical value. Results: A total of 105 patients were identified with complete imaging and follow-up information. Of these, 47 patients (44.8%) had evidence of an adjacent vertebral fracture on follow-up imaging. The mean HU measurements of the fractured adjacent vertebra were significantly different from the mean HU measurements of the unfractured adjacent vertebra (50.94±20.59 vs. 81.74±18.97 HU; P<0.001). There was a significant difference in the ratio of HU measurements between the surgical vertebra and the fractured adjacent vertebra and between the surgical vertebra and the unfractured adjacent vertebra (26.34±17.52 vs. 14.53±9.40; P<0.001). Interactive scatter plots and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve showed that a HU measurement of 66.9 and a HU measurements ratio of 15.18 were the best thresholds for predicting the risk of fracture of adjacent vertebrae after PKP surgery, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.901 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.822-0.953; P<0.001] and 0.874 (95% CI: 0.790-0.934; P<0.001), respectively. The prediction accuracy was 90.4% and 84.0%, respectively. Conclusions: A low mean HU measurements of adjacent vertebrae or a high ratio of the mean HU measurements of the operated vertebrae to the adjacent vertebrae are risk factors for the vulnerability of adjacent vertebrae to fracture. The risk of fracture in the adjacent vertebrae after PKP can be predicted by measuring HU.

RESUMO

Hydrogels, also known as three-dimensional, flexible, and polymer networks, are composed of natural and/or synthetic polymers with exceptional properties such as hydrophilicity, biocompatibility, biofunctionality, and elasticity. Researchers in biomedicine, biosensing, pharmaceuticals, energy and environment, agriculture, and cosmetics are interested in hydrogels. Hydrogels have limited adaptability for complicated biological information transfer in biomedical applications due to their lack of electrical conductivity and low mechanical strength, despite significant advances in the development and use of hydrogels. The nano-filler-hydrogel hybrid system based on supramolecular interaction between host and guest has emerged as one of the potential solutions to the aforementioned issues. Black phosphorus, as one of the representatives of novel two-dimensional materials, has gained a great deal of interest in recent years owing to its exceptional physical and chemical properties, among other nanoscale fillers. However, a few numbers of publications have elaborated on the scientific development of black phosphorus hybrid hydrogels extensively. In this review, this review thus summarized the benefits of black phosphorus hybrid hydrogels and highlighted the most recent biological uses of black phosphorus hybrid hydrogels. Finally, the difficulties and future possibilities of the development of black phosphorus hybrid hydrogels are reviewed in an effort to serve as a guide for the application and manufacture of black phosphorus -based hydrogels. Recent applications of black phosphorus hybrid hydrogels in biomedicine.

RESUMO

Succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) inhibitor is one of the research hotspots for the development of fungicides. Herein, we describe the design and synthesis of N-methoxy-(biphenyl-ethyl)-pyrazole-carboxamide derivatives with enhanced fungicidal activity by employing fragment combination strategy. The SDH enzymatic activity was evaluated for 24 title compounds, and compound 7s was identified as the highest activity against porcine SDH with an IC50 value of 0.014 µM, 205-fold greater than that of fluxapyroxad. Furthermore, the greenhouse experiments showed that compound 7u exhibited potent fungicidal activity against wheat powdery mildew with an EC50 value of 0.633 mg/L, higher activity than fluxapyroxad and benzovindiflupyr. The computational results showed that the fluorine atom substituted on the pyrazole ring formed an extra dipolar-dipolar interaction with C_S42 and then increased the van der Waals interaction between the compound and SDH. The structural and mechanistic insights obtained from the present work will provide a valuable clue to developing novel SDH inhibitors.

RESUMO

Plant invasions profoundly impact both natural and managed ecosystems, and removal of the invasive plants addresses only part of the problem of restoring impacted areas. The rehabilitation of diverse communities and their ecosystem functions following removal of invasive plants is an important goal of ecological restoration. Arthropod assemblages and trophic interactions are important indicators of the success of restoration, but they have largely been overlooked in saltmarshes. We determined how arthropod assemblages and trophic interactions changed with the invasion of the exotic plant Spartina alterniflora and with the restoration of the native plant Phragmites australis following Spartina removal in a Chinese saltmarsh. We investigated multiple biotic and abiotic variables to gain insight into the factors underlying the changes in arthropod assemblages and trophic structure. We found that although Spartina invasion had changed arthropod diversity, community structure, feeding-guild composition, and the diets of arthropod natural enemies in the saltmarsh, these changes could be reversed by the restoration of native Phragmites vegetation following removal of the invader. The variation in arthropod assemblages and trophic structure were critically associated with four biotic and abiotic variables (aboveground biomass, plant density, leaf N, and soil salinity). Our findings demonstrate the positive effects of controlling invasive plants on biodiversity and nutrient cycling and provide a foundation for assessing the efficacy of ecological restoration projects in saltmarshes.

RESUMO

Bionic camouflage covert underwater acoustic communication has recently attracted great attention. However, we have not found relevant methods or literature to recognize these bionic camouflage communication signals (BCCSs) in the area of anti-reconnaissance. Focused on recognizing the BCCSs, this article proposes a recognition method based on the statistics of inter-click intervals to recognize the camouflaged click communication train (CCCT), which is modulated by time delay difference (TDD). We first analyze the characteristics of TDD distributions of CCCT and real click train (RCT). According to the coding principle, the TDDs of CCCTs present a ladder-like distribution with a fixed time step, and the TDDs are equal to the integral multiple of the fixed time step. On the contrary, the TDDs of RCTs are approximately random distribution within a certain time range. Therefore, based on the different TDD distributions, this article classifies CCCTs and RCTs by utilizing the statistical property of TDD distributions. To measure the TDDs of diverse cetacean clicks accurately, a new click location scheme based on the dynamic window energy ratio is proposed. Next, based on the statistics of TDD distribution, the influences of the TDDs that are caused by multipath interferences are eliminated by iteration. Simulations demonstrate the accuracy of the recognition method under different conditions.

RESUMO

Flame retardants have important theoretical research and applied value for lithium-ion battery safety. Microcapsule flame retardants based on ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and aluminum hydroxide (ATH) were synthesized for application in lithium-ion batteries. First, the ATH-APP was prepared by coating a layer of ATH on the surface of the core APP. Then, the ATH-APP was encapsulated by poly(urea-formaldehyde) (PUF) to obtain en-ATH-APP. The structure and flame-retardant property of en-ATH-APP, the influence of en-ATH-APP on the thermal stability of the electrode, and the electrochemical performance of the battery were studied. The results of Fourier transform infrared and scanning electron microscope experiments indicated that APP was coated with ATH and PUF in turn. The results of differential scanning calorimetry and the fire extinguishing test for electrodes manifested that en-ATH-APP had better flame-retardant property than APP because of the synergistic effect between APP and ATH. Moreover, the flame-retardant efficiency of en-ATH-APP was comparable to that of ATH-APP, indicating that the presence of PUF had almost no effect on the flame-retardant property. The results of electrochemical experiments indicated that en-ATH-APP had the best electrochemical compatibility for the battery compared with APP and ATH-APP. The research lights the way to improve inherent safety of lithium-ion batteries by adding en-ATH-APP to the cathode.

RESUMO

Metallic surface defect detection is an essential and necessary process to control the qualities of industrial products. However, due to the limited data scale and defect categories, existing defect datasets are generally unavailable for the deployment of the detection model. To address this problem, we contribute a new dataset called GC10-DET for large-scale metallic surface defect detection. The GC10-DET dataset has great challenges on defect categories, image number, and data scale. Besides, traditional detection approaches are poor in both efficiency and accuracy for the complex real-world environment. Thus, we also propose a novel end-to-end defect detection network (EDDN) based on the Single Shot MultiBox Detector. The EDDN model can deal with defects with different scales. Furthermore, a hard negative mining method is designed to alleviate the problem of data imbalance, while some data augmentation methods are adopted to enrich the training data for the expensive data collection problem. Finally, the extensive experiments on two datasets demonstrate that the proposed method is robust and can meet accuracy requirements for metallic defect detection.

RESUMO

Most of the current object detection approaches deliver competitive results with an assumption that a large number of labeled data are generally available and can be fed into a deep network at once. However, due to expensive labeling efforts, it is difficult to deploy the object detection systems into more complex and challenging real-world environments, especially for defect detection in real industries. In order to reduce the labeling efforts, this study proposes an active learning framework for defect detection. First, an Uncertainty Sampling is proposed to produce the candidate list for annotation. Uncertain images can provide more informative knowledge for the learning process. Then, an Average Margin method is designed to set the sampling scale for each defect category. In addition, an iterative pattern of training and selection is adopted to train an effective detection model. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can render the required performance with fewer labeled data.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical effectiveness of various posterior decompression surgeries in the treatment of upper thoracic spinal stenosis combined with multilevel cervical spinal stenosis. METHODS: From January 2010 to December 2015, 22 consecutive patients with combined upper thoracic spinal stenosis and multilevel cervical spinal stenosis were treated with two different approaches of posterior decompression surgeries. In group A with 10 patients, both cervical and thoracic spinal decompression surgeries were performed simultaneously (one-stage surgery); in group B with 8 patients, cervical and thoracic spinal decompression surgeries were performed separately within three months (two-stage surgery). Based on Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) scores, improvement rate and extent of neurological function were calculated and the difference was compared between the two groups. RESULTS: There was no significant difference in demographic data between the two groups. However, compared with those of group B, both short-term and long-term improvement rate of neurological function in group A was higher (P < 0.05). In addition, the hospitalization cost was also lower in group A. CONCLUSION: Both one-stage and two-stage posterior decompression surgeries were effective in treating patient with upper thoracic spinal stenosis combined with multilevel cervical spinal stenosis; however, one-stage combined surgery was superior to two-stage surgery.

RESUMO

Semi-transparent rounded Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) nanosheet networks were in situ grown on a FTO glass substrate, via an effective solution method, without any post-treatments. An improved power conversion efficiency of 6.24% was obtained by applying CZTS nanosheet networks as a counter electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells. When assisted by a mirror reflection, the PCE increased to 7.12%.

RESUMO

Synchronization sampling is very important in underwater towed array system where every acquisition node (AN) samples analog signals by its own analog-digital converter (ADC). In this paper, a simple and effective synchronization sampling method is proposed to ensure synchronized operation among different ANs of the underwater towed array system. We first present a master-slave synchronization sampling model, and then design a high accuracy phase-locked loop to synchronize all delta-sigma ADCs to a reference clock. However, when the master-slave synchronization sampling model is used, both the time-delay (TD) of messages traveling along the wired transmission medium and the jitter of the clocks will bring out synchronization sampling error (SSE). Therefore, a simple method is proposed to estimate and compensate the TD of the messages transmission, and then another effective method is presented to overcome the SSE caused by the jitter of the clocks. An experimental system with three ANs is set up, and the related experimental results verify the validity of the synchronization sampling method proposed in this paper.
