Background: Basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors are involved in plant growth and development, secondary metabolism, and abiotic stress responses have been studied in a variety of plants. Despite their importance in plant biology, the roles and expression patterns of bHLH family genes in Rosa persica have not been determined. Methods: In this study, the RbebHLH family genes were systematically analyzed using bioinformatics methods, and their expression patterns under low-temperature stress were analyzed by transcriptome and related physiological index measurements. Results: In total, 142 RbebHLHs were identified in the genome of R. persica, distributed on seven chromosomes. Phylogenetic analysis including orthologous genes in Arabidopsis divided RbebHLHs into 21 subfamilies, with similar structures and motifs within a subfamily. A collinearity analysis revealed seven tandem duplications and 118 segmental duplications in R. persica and 127, 150, 151, 172, and 164 segmental duplications between R. persica and Arabidopsis thaliana, Prunus mume, Fragaria vesca, Rosa chinensis, and Prunus persica, respectively. A number of cis-regulatory elements associated with abiotic stress response and hormone response were identified in RbebHLHs, and 21 RbebHLHs have potential interactions with the CBF family. In addition, the expression results showed that part of bHLH may regulate the tolerance of R. persica to low-temperature stress through the jasmonic acid and pathway. Transcriptomic data showed that the expression levels of different RbebHLHs varied during overwintering, and the expression of some RbebHLHs was significantly correlated with relative conductivity and MDA content, implying that RbebHLHs play important regulatory roles in R. persica response to low-temperature stress. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the study of RbebHLHs associated with low-temperature stress.

BACKGROUND: In March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a public health emergency of international concern. A small proportion of patients infected with COVID-19 go on to develop pneumonia. We speculated that COVID-19 may be likely to result in psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression. In this study, we conducted an investigation of anxiety and depression in patients with COVID-19. METHODS: Sixty-five COVID-19 patients were randomly enrolled into this study. Anxiety and depression among participants were measured through the completion of anonymous Chinese-language Zung self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale questionnaires. Data were analyzed using independent samples t-tests, Mann-Whitney U-tests, and χ2 tests. RESULTS: The questionnaire results showed that 26.15% and 41.54% of participants suffered from anxiety and depression, respectively, although there was no significantly statistical difference between the proportions of COVID-19 patients with anxiety and depression. Statistically significant differences in employment status, partial pressure of oxygen, and corticosteroid application existed between moderate- and severe COVID-19 patients (P<0.05). In particular, the partial pressure of oxygen was significantly lower in severe COVID-19 patients than in their moderate counter parts (71.31±23.54 vs. 101.06±34.43, U=156, P=0.006). Total lymphocytes was lower in severe group than in moderate group [1.659±0.643 vs. 0.745 (0.645, 0.928), U=109, P=0.000]. Also, a higher proportion of female than male patients had anxiety (χ2=5.388, P=0.02). COVID-19 patients who received antiviral medications also displayed a higher rate of anxiety (χ2=4.481, P=0.034). Total lymphocytes between the non-anxiety and anxiety had statistical difference (U=321, P=0.019). Meanwhile, total lymphocytes between the non-depression and depression also had statistical difference (U=389.5, P=0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Among patients with COVID-19, females and those treated with antiviral medications were more likely to experience anxiety. In addition, our findings reflected the effect of anxiety and depression on immune system.

Objective To investigate the constituents of water and ethanol extracts from the stems and leaves ofAucklandia lappa and their effect on gastric emptying and intestinal propulsion of gastrointestinal normal,hyperthyroidism and inhibited mice.Methods The water,ethanol and aether petrolei extracts from stems and leaves of A.lappa were prepared,and the chemical constituents of the stems and leaves were identified by chemical reaction.The hyperthyroidism state was induced by neostigmine and inhibiting state was induced by atropine.Mice were ig administered with water and ethanol extracts (0.5 g/kg),with the improved phenol red method to determine gastric emptying and intestinal propulsion in gastrointestinal normal,hyperthyroidism and inhibited mice.Results Both water and ethanol extracts significantly improved intestinal propulsion in normal mice (P < 0.05 and 0.01),while significantly decreased the intestinal propulsion in hyperthyroidism mice (P < 0.05) and ethanol extract showed a stronger decreasing effect than that of water extract.The inhibitory effect of atropine on intestinal propulsion was intensified by these two extracts (P < 0.05).The restrained gastric emptying of normal,hyperthyroidism and inhibited mice was also observed.Chemical composition analysis indicated that many kinds of chemical components including protein,sugar,essential oil,flavonoids,lactones,alkaloids,saponins and tannins existed in the leaves and stems of A.lappa.Conclusion The leaves and stems of A.lappa could promote the intestinal propulsion of normal mice and restrain the intestinal propulsion of hyperthyroidism and inhibited mice while inhibit the gastric emptying in any condition tested,and its promoting effect on the gut may be related to the M cholinergic receptor.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to investigate the absorption kinetics of aconitine, mesaconitine and hypaconitine in rats after oral administration of Sini Tang powder. With cannulate portal and jugular veins cannulated (double-cannulate), conscious moving rats were orally administered Sini Tang. Then samples of portal and systemic blood were collected at the designated periods of time and analyzed for aconitine, mesaconitine and hypaconitine by HPLC. Apparent absorption coefficient of aconitine, mesaconitine and hypaconitine was caculated respectively. The results indicated that the apparent absorption coefficient of aconitine, mesaconitine and hypaconitine come from Sini Tang were 0. 336, 0. 090, 0. 176, respectively, which had some differences among them. It was also suggested that double-cannulated rat was useful for estimating the absorption kinetics of aconitine, mesaconitine and hypaconitine after orally administered Sini Tang by determining the AUC values for drugs in portal and systemic blood samples. The three alkaloids could all be detected in blood, but the absorption differences were existed among the three alkaloids.

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To develop a lung cancer diagnosis system.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A retrospective analysis was conducted in 1883 patients with primary lung cancer or benign pulmonary diseases (pneumonia, tuberculosis, or pneumonia pseudotumor). SPSS11.5 software was used for data processing. For the relevant factors, a non-factor Logistic regression analysis was used followed by establishment of the regression model. Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 system development platform and VB.Net corresponding language were used to develop the lung cancer diagnosis system.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The non-factor multi-factor regression model showed a goodness-of-fit (R2) of the model of 0.806, with a diagnostic accuracy for benign lung diseases of 92.8%, a diagnostic accuracy for lung cancer of 89.0%, and an overall accuracy of 90.8%.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The model system for early clinical diagnosis of lung cancer has been established.</p>
