RESUMO

The demand for paper-based packaging materials as an alternative to incumbent disposable petroleum-derived polymers for food packaging applications is ever-growing. However, typical paper-based formats are not suitable for use in unconventional applications due to inherent limitations (e.g., excessive hydrophilicity, lack antimicrobial ability), and accordingly, enabling new capabilities is necessity. Herein, a simple and environmentally friendly strategy was proposed to introduce antimicrobial and hydrophobic functions to cellulose paper through successive chemical grafting of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS) and cinnamaldehyde (CA). The results revealed that cellulose paper not only showed long-term antibacterial effect on different bacteria, but also inhibited a wide range of fungi. Encouragingly, the modified paper, which is fluorine-free, displays a high contact angle of 119.7°. Thus, even in the wet state, the modified paper can still maintain good mechanical strength. Meanwhile, the multifunctional composite papers have excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability. Compared with ordinary cellulose paper, multifunctional composite paper can effectively prolong the shelf life of strawberries. Therefore, the multifunctional composite paper represents good application potential as a fruit packaging material.

RESUMO

Sodium-sulfur (Na-S) batteries hold great promise for cutting-edge fields due to their high specific capacity, high energy density and high efficiency of charge and discharge. However, Na-S batteries operating at different temperatures possess a particular reaction mechanism; scrutinizing the optimized working conditions toward enhanced intrinsic activity is highly desirable while facing daunting challenges. This review will conduct a dialectical comparative analysis of Na-S batteries. Due to its performance, there are challenges in the aspects of expenditure, potential safety hazards, environmental issues, service life and shuttle effect; thus, we seek solutions in the electrolyte system, catalysts, anode and cathode materials at intermediate and low temperatures (T < 300 °C) as well as high temperatures (300 °C < T < 350 °C). Nevertheless, we also analyze the latest research progress of these two situations in connection with the concept of sustainable development. Finally, the development prospects of this field are summarized and discussed to look forward to the future of Na-S batteries.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the application value of infrared thermography (IRT) technique assisted peroneal artery perforator flap in repairing oral and maxillofacial defects. Methods: The clinical data of 20 patients with oral and maxillofacial malignant tumors treated with peroneal artery perforator flap between October 2020 and December 2021 were retrospectively analysed. There were 13 males and 7 females, with an average age of 56.5 years (range, 32-76 years). There were 8 cases of tongue cancer, 5 cases of parotid gland cancer, 4 cases of buccal cancer, and 3 cases of mandibular gingival cancer; and 12 cases of squamous cell carcinoma, 3 cases of adenoid cystic carcinoma, and 5 cases of mucoepidermoid carcinoma. Color Doppler ultrasound (CDU) and IRT technique were performed before operation to locate the peroneal artery perforator and assist in the design of the flap. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of CDU and IRT technique were compared with the actual exploration during operation. The accuracy of CDU and IRT technique in detecting the number of peroneal artery perforator and the most viable perforating points was compared. The patients were followed up regularly to observe the recovery of donor and recipient sites, the occurrence of complications, and the recurrence and metastasis of tumors. Results: The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of peroneal artery perforators detected by IRT technique before operation were 72.22%, 50.00%, 92.86%, and 16.67% respectively, which were higher than those by CDU (64.17%, 33.33%, 84.62%, and 14.29% respectively). Forty-five peroneal artery perforators were found by CDU before operation, and 35 were confirmed during operation, with an accuracy rate of 77.8%; 43 "hot spots" were found by IRT technique, and 32 peroneal artery perforators were confirmed within the "hot spots" range during operation, with an accuracy rate of 74.4%; there was no significant difference between the two methods ( χ²=0.096, P=0.757). The accuracy rates of the most viable perforating points found by CDU and IRT technique were 80.95% (17/21) and 94.74% (18/19), respectively, and there was no significant difference between them ( χ²=0.115, P=0.734). The localization errors of CDU and IRT technique were (5.12±2.10) and (4.23±1.87) mm, respectively, and there was no significant difference between them ( t=1.416, P=0.165). All the perforator flaps survived, and the incisions of donor and recipient sites healed by first intention. All patients were followed up 5-18 months, with an average of 11 months. The skin flap was soft and had good blood supply, and the lower limb scar was concealed and the lower limb had good function. No lower limb swelling, pain, numbness, ankle instability, or other complications occurred, and no tumor recurrence and metastasis were found during the follow-up. Conclusion: Compared with the CDU, using the IRT technique to assist the preoperative peroneal artery perforator flap design to repair the oral and maxillofacial defects has a high clinical application value.

RESUMO

This study investigated new avenues for understanding the association between parental autonomy support and academic engagement among Chinese secondary vocational students based on Self-Determination Theory and Career Construction Theory. We highlighted the mediator role of career adaptability and career decision-making self-efficacy in the relationship between parental autonomy support and academic engagement. Using self-reported data from 1,930 secondary vocational students in a city in Central China, we performed correlation analysis and mediation analysis by using SPSS and Mplus. The results revealed that parental autonomy support was positively associated with students' academic engagement. Moreover, as an adaptability resource and adapting response, career adaptability and career decision-making self-efficacy played mediating roles between parental autonomy support and academic engagement. These findings offered crucial empirical evidence for understanding the association between parental support and academic engagement among Chinese secondary vocational students. Meanwhile, it also validated the application of Career Construction Theory in a sample of secondary vocational students in China and provided constructive insights for implementing diverse support measures to boost their academic and career development.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To follow up the cohort of a certain factory and analyze the death cause of the employees. METHODS: A dynamic cohort was adopted and the study population consisted of all workers stayed at the factory for more than 1 year. The cohort data was mainly from the personnel ministry in the factory, the death data provided by the personnel ministry, the labour union and the hospital. All cause of death of the all employee and the death condition of radiation group and no-radiation group were analyzed and compared. RESULTS: The mortality of the workers in the factory was significantly lower than national population, the SMR of all cause of death in all employee, radiation group and no-radiation group were 0.41 (95% CI: 0.37-0.45), 0.24, 0.75 respectively; all cancer death in the three group was 0.59, 0.40 and 0.92. But the death order was different in radiation group and no-radiation group, the order of liver cancer was list first in radiation group, which was unlike that of the nation order and the no-radiation order. CONCLUSION: There have no excess death in the factory, but the order of liver cancer is precedence.
