RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Nasal meningoencephalocele (encephalocele or cephalocele) is a rare condition with congenital, traumatic, or spontaneous origins. We investigated the clinicopathological characteristics of nasal encephaloceles to improve pathologists' and clinicians' understanding of this disease. METHODS: Sixteen patients with nasal encephaloceles were enrolled in this retrospective study investigating the condition's clinical and morphological features. RESULTS: Patients' average age was 37.8 (±20.8) years. The ratio of men to women was 2.2:1, patients' mean age was 47.4 (±11.8) years, and 10/16 patients had spontaneous encephaloceles. All patients with traumatic and spontaneous encephaloceles presented with cerebrospinal fluid leak. In 9/16 patients, the skull defect site occurred on the lateral wall of the sphenoid sinus. Both congenital patients experienced nasal obstruction. Histopathology, herniated tissues were brain and/or meningeal tissue, and the brain tissue was almost mature glial tissue. CONCLUSION: Nasal meningoencephalocele is a rare condition that can be challenging to diagnose. In patients with recurrent clear nasal discharge or in children with a unilateral nasal mass, a high index of suspicion for encephalocele is essential. In this study, spontaneous cases were most common in adults, and the lateral wall of the sphenoid sinus was the most common location.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo observe the cells of frontal recess region with multi-detector CT muhiplanar reconstruction(MPR).MethodsOne hundred patients without the disease of frontal sinus and frontal recess region underwent axial multi-detector CT scan with axial, coronal and sagittal multiplanar reconstruction.ResultsIn 100 cases(200 sides),the agger nasi cell is present in 186 sides(93.0%),the frontal cells were identified in 88 sides(44.0%),the prevalence of type Ⅰ,type Ⅱ,type Ⅲ and type Ⅳ cells were 51 sides(58.0%),23 sides(26.1%),14 sides(15.9%)and 0 sides, respectively. The suprabullar cells, the frontal bullar cells and the supraorbital ethmoid cells were identified in 130 sides (65.0%),23 sides(11.5%)and 11 sides(5.5%),respectively.The interfrontal septal cells were identified in 36 sides(18.0%).There was no significant difference between males and females,as well as between left and right side(P>0.05).Conclusion With MPR imaging, doctors could better understand the frontal recess region, which is helpful to the endoscopic frontal sinus surgery.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the effect of PBL method in the pathogen and immunology teaching. Methods PBL teaching was practised in trial group, while LBL teaching was practiced in control group. The writers made an analysis of this teaching by way of questionnaire and exam. Results Many students by PBL teaching accept PBL teaching Method, and improve their self-study ability, understanding ability, analyzing ability and so on. Conclusion PBL teaching method is much better than LBL teaching method, and can improve the quality of pathogen and immunology teaching.

RESUMO

4 kinds of lectin receptors (PHA, DBA, PNA, ConA) in the tissues of a variety of lesions of the gastric mucosa are studied with the histochemical method (ABC technique) in 87 cases. The results are follows: the positive rates of 4 kinds of lectin-binding, the distribution of lectin receptors, the intensity of positiveness and the stained patterns are correlated to the histologic types and the grades of various mucosal lesions. The intensity of positive reaction of PHA, PNA and DBA shows a progressive rising, while that of ConA appears a gradual declining tendency with the change from normal gastric mucosa to intestinal metaplasia and cancer. The stained patterns of lectin are: type I is the main pattern for ConA, type I for PNA and type III for PHA and DBA .
