RESUMO

Backgrounds: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought an unprecedented healthy crisis to people worldwide. It is crucial to assess the psychological status of non-frontline nurses. More attention to the mental and physical health of non-frontline nurses during a public health emergency is necessary for a full understanding of the implications. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the factors that influence the acute stress reaction of non-frontline pediatric nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This study aimed to explore factors associated with acute stress reactions of non-frontline pediatric nurses in Hunan province during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a cross-sectional design. Five hundred eighteen pediatric nurses from Hunan province, China, completed the Stanford Acute Stress Reaction Questionnaire (SASRQ), Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21 (DASS-21), and Job Withdrawal Behavior Scales (JWB). Multiple linear regression analyses and Pearson's correlation were used to analyze the results. Results: The mean scores of DASS-21, JWB, SASRQ were 1.443 ± 0.500, 1.601 ± 0.544, and 1.858 ± 0.805, respectively. Stress, anxiety, depression (three sub-dimensions of DASS-21), JWB, monthly income and department were the major predictive factors for SASRQ (Adjusted R2 = 0.579, p < 0.001). Pearson's correlation showed that the mean score of SASRQ was positively correlated with JWB, DASS-21, and all its dimensions (p < 0.01). Conclusion: The study indicated that the SASRQ was greater with higher levels of DASS-21 and JWB. It revealed an acute stress reaction in non-frontline pediatric nurses and recommends more focus on the factors influencing the SASRQ.

RESUMO

Objective:To explore application effect of early respiratory training schemes based on 4E mode (Engage, Educate, Execute, Evaluate) in children with bronchiolitis obliterans (BO) and provide evidence for the clinical implementation of early respiratory rehabilitation in children with BO.Methods:This was a quasi-experimental study. The children with BO who were admitted to 2 wards of the Department of Respiratory Medicine of Hunan Children's Hospital from January 1 to December 31, 2021 were selected as the research objects. They were randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group, with 23 cases in each group. The control group received routine treatment, nursing and rehabilitation guidance. The experimental group established a multidisciplinary team based on the control group, and used the early respiratory training program based on the 4E model to implement intervention. The clinical symptom severity scale was used to evaluate the improvement of the clinical symptoms of the children within 24 hours of being diagnosed as BO, the day of discharge, and 1 and 3 months after discharge for re-examination, and the hospitalization time of the children and the incidence of adverse events related to respiratory training were counted by using medical records and questionnaires. Results:The clinical symptom severity scores of the experimental group within 24 hours of admission diagnosis and the day of discharge were (20.00 ± 2.51) and (11.30 ± 2.46)points respectively, while those of the control group were (20.57 ± 2.21) and (11.70 ± 2.42) points respectively, with no statistically significant difference ( t=0.81, 0.54, both P>0.05). The clinical symptom severity scores of the experimental group were(10.52 ± 2.31) and (8.55 ± 1.06) points, lower than (12.32 ± 1.39) and (12.45 ± 2.19) points of the control group when they returned to the hospital for re-examination 1 and 3 months after discharge, with a statistically significant difference ( t=3.14, 7.25, both P<0.05). The experimental group was hospitalized for (11.78 ± 1.17) days, which was showter than (13.74 ± 1.63) days in the control group, with a statistically significant difference ( t=4.68, P<0.05). No respiratory training-related adverse events occurred in both groups of children during hospitalization. During home respiratory training after discharge, 1 and 2 respiratory training-related adverse events occurred in the experimental group 1 and 3 months after discharge, respectively, compared with 6 and 9 in the control group. The difference was statistically significant ( χ2=4.64, 5.94, both P<0.05). Conclusions:Early respiratory training solutions based on the 4E mode can improve the clinical symptoms of BO children, shorten the hospitalization time, reduce the number of adverse events related to respiratory training, and promote the recovery of children.

RESUMO

The empathy of nurses is associated with self-care and self-compassion, which may enhance the quality of the nurse-patient relationship. Yet, research on the empathy of nursing staff has mostly used cross-sectional designs, which cannot capture the degree of empathy changes over time. To explore changes in empathy among nurses in China from 2009 to 2018. A cross-temporal meta-analysis was used to examine continuous changes in the empathy of nurses. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines were used to conduct this cross-temporal meta-analysis of 57 samples of nurses in China who completed the three subscales (perspective-taking, compassionate care, and walking in the patient's shoes) of the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Health Professionals from 2009 to 2018 (N = 13,825). This meta-analysis was conducted following good scientific practice in every phase, and approval by ethics committees was not required according to the local regulations in China. The findings suggest that the nurses' mean total scores of empathy and perspective-taking on the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Health Professionals declined significantly over time, but the trend in compassionate care and walking in the patient's shoes was not significant. No significant changes were found in the overall empathy or the three dimensions of empathy of the nurses in the Eastern region across time, whereas a significant decline was found on the total empathy and perspective-taking scores of the nurses in other regions (i.e. the Central and Western regions). The mean total score of empathy and walking in the patient's shoes of the nurses who worked in the intensive care units showed a significant decrease over time. Furthermore, these findings indicate that the empathy of Chinese nurses has decreased steadily over the past 10 years. High levels of empathy can effectively reduce healthcare risks, errors, and disputes among nursing staff and enhance patient satisfaction and well-being.

RESUMO

DNA typing of biological samples is an important step in performing individual identification and paternity testing in forensic applications. In practice, the detection of complex biological samples and the identification of complex kinships are challenging current biological technologies. Novel DNA technologies are also introduced into forensic genetics to improve the power of analysis. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has several advantages, such as high-throughput and low cost, and can obtain detailed DNA sequences and relative contents of targeted regions, which will improve the detection of biological samples to help the analysis of forensic cases. The application of NGS in forensic genetics has received extensive attention and reports on the application of NGS in forensic genetics are increasing. In this study, we summarized the progress in the application research of NGS in the forensic genetics including the detection of genetic markers and their analytical methods. This will provide guides for related studies and forensic applications.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the change rules of peak area ratio of STR loci to Amelogenin (AMEL) locus (STR/A M EL ), a sex-determ ining gene in DNA degradation, and to evaluate the application of STR/A MEL value in the estim ation of DNA degradation degree. Methods DNA w as extracted from iliopsoas, and the variations of STR/A MEL value (Penta E/AMEL, Penta D/AMEL, FGA/AMEL) w ere analyzed after the artificial degradation w as m ade by DNaseⅠ, and the changes of these three ratios of the iliopsoas naturally degraded in an outdoor environm ent w ere also analyzed. The regression curves w ere analyzed using the periods of DNA degradation and outside the body as the independent variable (x) and the STR/A MEL value as the dependent variable (y) and three curve equations under tw o conditions w ere established. Results B oth under the conditions of artificial and natural degradation, STR/A MEL value had a negative relationship w ith the degradation tim e. The relationship betw een STR/A MEL and degradation tim e can be w ell sim ulated by the cubic function. R2 w as over 0.99 under controlled degradation condition and over 0.86 under natural degradation condition. Conclusion The STR/A MEL value (Penta E/AMEL, Penta D/AMEL , FGA/AMEL ) is negatively related w ith the DNA degradation degree, w hich follow s m athem atical regression m odels strictly, and it m ight be applied to evaluate the DNA degradation degree.
