RESUMO

Objective To analyze the research focuses and frontiers of exercise intervention on breast cancer patients. Methods We collected 7134 pieces of literature about exercise intervention on breast cancer in the Web of Science Core Collection database in recent five years, and CiteSpaceⅤ was used to conduct visual knowledge map analysis and generate a visual map including discipline distribution, country or region distribution, keyword co-occurrence or highlighting, keyword timeline maps, etc. Results In recent years, the domain of exercise intervention on breast cancer has achieved rapid development. The disciplines were mainly cardiovascular system and cardiology as well as oncology. Countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Italy ranked in the first places with regard to the number of papers. The body mass index and the quality of life betweeness centrality were respectively 0.81 and 0.52, which played an important role in the knowledge map. The keyword highlighting map and the timeline map showed that cardiac toxicity was a research focus in this domain. Conclusion The research focuses of exercise intervention on breast cancer are mainly cardiovascular and related fields, in a rapid development stage. Future research directions include weight control, quality of life and cardiac toxicity.

RESUMO

BACKGROUNDThe prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) increased recently and there was still not a screening index to predict MetS. The aim of this study was to estimate whether brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), a novel marker for systemic arterial stiffness, could predict MetS in Chinese community population.

METHODSA total of 2 191 participants were recruited and underwent medical examination including 1 455 men and 756 women from June 2011 to January 2012. MetS was diagnosed according to the criteria of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). Multiple Logistic regressions were conducted to explore the risk factors of MetS. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was performed to estimate the ideal diagnostic cutoff point of baPWV to predict MetS.

RESULTSThe mean age was (45.35±8.27) years old. In multiple Logistic regression analysis, the gender, baPWV and smoking status were risk factors to MetS after adjusting age, gender, baPWV, walk time and sleeping time. The prevalence of MetS was 17.48% in 30-year age population in Shanghai. There were significant differences (χ(2) = 96.46, P < 0.05) between male and female participants on MetS prevalence. According to the ROC analyses, the ideal cutoff point of baPWV was 1 358.50 cm/s (AUC = 60.20%) to predict MetS among male group and 1 350.00 cm/s (AUC = 70.90%) among female group.

CONCLUSIONBaPWV may be considered as a screening marker to predict MetS in community Chinese population and the diagnostic value of 1 350.00 cm/s was more significant for the female group.

RESUMO

After vascular angioplasty, vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation causes atherosclerosis and intimal hyperplasia leading to restenosis. Interferon-γ-inducible protein (IP)-10 plays a role in atherogenesis, but the mechanism remains unclear. We evaluated the role of IP-10 in intimal hyperplasia and restenosis. IP-10 expression was determined in arterial specimens from 20 arteriosclerotic obliteration patients and 6 healthy individuals. VSMCs were stimulated in vitro with IFN-γ and transfected with IP-10 siRNA. Silencing was verified with RT-PCR/Western blot; cell proliferation rate was detected by methyl-thiazol-tetrazolium. The carotid artery model of atherosclerosis injury was established with IP-10 siRNA. IP-10 expression was detected at 1 and 4 weeks using RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry. Artery morphology was assessed with hematoxylin-and-eosin staining, and intimal hyperplasia was evaluated by electron microscopy. IP-10 was overexpressed in arteriosclerotic obliteration group compared with control group (P < 0.05). IP-10 expression in transfected group was significantly lower than in untransfected group. The intima-to-media ratio of transfected group at 4 weeks was lower than that of untransfected group (P < 0.01). The transfected group exhibited more regular intimal structure and less hyperplasia under electron microscopy. We, therefore, concluded that IP-10 played an important role in intimal hyperplasia as siRNA-mediated IP-10 silencing inhibited aberrant VSMCs hyperplasia and reduced restenosis.

RESUMO

The antitumor effect and the mechanism of action of ursolic acid in A549 cells(human non-small-cell lung cancer cells) was investigated in this paper. Firstly, MTT assay was performed to test whether ursolic acid could inhibit the growth of A549 cells. Secondly, Western blot was utilized to measure the expression level of COX-2 and the activation of MAPKs. The MTI assay revealed that ursolic acid inhibited the growth of A549 cells. The result of Western blot suggested that ursolic acid inhibited the expression of COX-2 and activation of ERK and ERK specific inhibitor PD98059 suppressed the expression of COX-2 synergistically with ursolic acid. Taken together, our data suggest that ursolic acid can suppress LPS-induced COX-2 expression in A549 cells, which could be due to the inhibition of the activation of ERK.

RESUMO

Hematite, a type of inorganic-sorptive medium, was used for the removal of U (VI) from aqueous solutions. Variables of the batch experiments including solution pH, contact time, initial concentration, temperature, calcium and magnesium ions were studied. The results indicated that the adsorption capacities are strongly affected by the solution pH, contact time and initial concentration. A higher pH favors higher U (VI) removal. The adsorption was also affected by temperature and calcium and magnesium ions, but the effect is very weak. The maximum adsorption capacity (q(m)) only increased from 3.36 mgg(-1) to 3.54 mgg(-1) when the temperature was increased from 293 K to 318 K. A two-stage kinetic behavior was observed in the adsorption of uranium (VI): very rapid initial adsorption in a few minutes, followed by a long period of slower uptake. It was found that an increase in temperature resulted in a higher uranium (VI) loading per unit weight of the sorbent. The adsorption of uranium by hematite had good efficiency, and the equilibrium time of adsorbing uranium (VI) was about 6h. The isothermal data were fitted with both Langmuir and Freundlich equations, but the data fitted the former better than the latter. The pseudo-first-order kinetic model, pseudo-second-order kinetic model and intraparticle diffusion model were used to describe the kinetic data, but the pseudo-second-order kinetic model was the best. The thermodynamic parameter Delta G(0) were calculated, the negative Delta G(0) values of uranium (VI) at different temperatures confirmed the adsorption processes were spontaneous.
