[Comparison between colposcopic and cytologic findings in relation to clinical and histologic diagnoses in carcinoma in situ]. / Vergleich kolposkopischer und zytologischer Befunde im Verhältnis zur klinischen und histologischen Diagnose beim Carcinoma in situ.

From 1977 to 1979 95 cases of carcinoma in situ had been detected at the Gynaecological Department of the Medical Academy of Erfurt. In 81 of these women there was a cytological examination before treatment. The accuracy of cytology and colposcopy was opposed the histological diagnosis in these selected cases. An agreement of colposcopy, cytology and histological findings could be found in 70 cases. In 6 cases colposcopy and in 4 cases cytology was wrong. Only in one case both examination methods failed.

[Cervix carcinoma in pregnancy]. / Das Zervixkarzinom in der Schwangerschaft.

42 cases with the combination of cervical carcinoma and pregnancy are reported which are observed at the Department of Gynaecology of the Medical Academy of Erfurt from 1951 to 1981. Reference is made to the possibility of an early diagnosis by means of an exactly organized prenatal care. The exactly performed postoperative classification of all these cases refers to the very difficult judgement of the pre-operative staging. A 5-year survival rate of 69% could be achieved by Wertheim's hysterectomy and individualized post-operative radiation, in comparison with international literature a satisfactory result. A better prognosis of this cancer during pregnancy may be supposed.

[Cryotherapy of condylomata acuminata]. / Die Kryotherapie spitzer Kondylome.

Between 1972 and 1982, 162 women between the ages of 15 and 66 were treated with cryosurgery at the Gynaecological Department of the Medical Academy Erfurt. 43 of these patients were pregnant between the twelfth and the thirty-second gestational week. - Until 24 months after the first cryosurgery we found one to four recurrences of condylomata acuminata in 14 patients which were treated cryosurgically again. Report is given about one case of condylomata acuminata gigantea, treated by cryosurgery, too. Contrary to electroresection and surgical resection after chlorethyl-freezing we think cryosurgery has an advantage in quickly necrosing, sequestering without further surgical measurements and healing without scars. - Therefore we consider cryosurgery as the most efficient method in the treatment of condylomata acuminata, also during pregnancy.

[Course of pregnancy following cryotherapeutic treatment of the cervix uteri]. / Schwangerschaftsverlauf nach kryotherapeutischer Behandlung der Cervix uteri.

Course of pregnancy of 26 women is reported in this paper. All of them had undergone cryosurgical treatment during or prior to one of their pragnancies. The results obtained from such surgical treatment are compared to those recorded from traditional operations on the uterine cervix. Scarless healing of the portio and full retention of its elasticity are points made to claim good functional results of cryotherapy. Suggestions are made for use of cryosurgery during pregnancy.

[Deliveries by caesarean section--variation of indications (author's transl)]. / Ergebnisse der Geburtsbeendigung durch Kaiserschnitt aus dem Blickwinkel der veränderten Indikationsstellung.

Reported are 657 cases of caesarean section performed in selected periods over the past two decades. An account is given of change in indications and the results accordingly achieved. Particular reference is made to higher risk of infection due to antepartum and intrapartum intensive care. Indications should continue to be based on most stringent criteria.

[New technique for use of low temperatures in uterine cavity (author's transl)]. / Eine neue Technik zur Anwendung tiefer Temperaturen im Cavum uteri.

Cases of repetitive or extremely secondary anaemia in the wake of therapy-resistant genital bleeding so far had been tackled by radium treatment, which led to radiological castration. Such approach was based on hysterosalpingography and established absence of malignancy, and it used to be applied also to younger patients with reduced or lost operability. The author have devised and tested a simple cryo-intrauterine applicator by which lasting or strong recurrent uterine bleeding can be readily controlled. Complete removal of the endometrium is now possible without any impairment of ovarian function. Foundations and methods are described in detail, with clinical conclusions being drawn.
