RESUMO

When used for the treatment of hypertensive crises enalaprilat produced pronounced lowering of both systolic and diastolic blood pressures. Lowering of blood pressure was accompanied by regression of clinical symptoms. There were no episodes of excessive blood pressure drop. The use of enalaprilat was associated with normalization of parameters of central and cerebral hemodynamics, lessening of degree of strain of regulatory systems of the body. Diminishment of left atrial dilatation and augmentation of left ventricular ejection fraction occurred in patients with initially dilated left atrium.

RESUMO

Parameters of oxidative stress were studied in 44 patients with grade II-III essential hypertension and cerebral variant of hypertensive crisis. All patients received antihypertensive treatment. Mexidol was administered intravenously (300 mg o.d.) for 7 days starting with the second day of a hypertensive crisis. Control group consisted of 27 patients who were not treated with mexidol. The level of lipid peroxidation products and parameters of antioxidative system were used for assessment of the state of oxidative stress. Significant increases of the coefficient of oxidative stress were registered at all study points in patients who were not treated with mexidol. Treatment with antioxidant mexidol was associated with decreased coefficient of oxidative stress throughout the whole study period (up to 14-th day).

RESUMO

The results of studying ATP-ase activity of the actomyosin complex of the esophageal smooth muscles in functional cardiac obstruction (FCO) are discussed. It was established that in advancement of the diseases the ATP-ase activity of the actomyosin complex of the esophageal muscular coat diminishes steadily. Analysis of surgical treatment of 63 patients with FCO showed that in 12 patients with neglected stages of the disease (stages III and IV) its results were poor due to marked reduction of the esophageal tonus, which was linked with diminished activity of the actomyosin complex of the esophageal muscles in stages III and IV of the disease. The study provides evidence of the importance of determining ATP-ase activity of actomyosin in FCO in choice of the methods of nonoperative treatment and the time of surgical management of this pathological condition.
