RESUMO

The results obtained in the simultaneous study of the microbiology of different sections of the gastrointestinal tract (the oral cavity, the stomach, the large and small intestines) in chronic enteritis patients, as well as in the study of biopsy mucosa samples from the small intestine of such patients, are presented. This method has been shown to give a complete picture indicating both the severity of dysbiotic disturbances in the patient and the degree of their spread in the alimentary canal, which should be taken into account in clinical practice for the determination of the severity of the disease, the rational course of treatment and the time of the discharge of the patient from the hospital.

RESUMO

The study of quantitative and species composition of intestinal microflora in infants with acute intestinal infection of unknown etiology and in normal infants maintained on mixed feeding has revealed that most often bacteria belonging to the genus Proteus are found. The main difference between these groups consists in the presence of bacteria belonging to the genus Klebsiella, as well as other opportunistic intestinal bacteria, in greater amounts in sick infants than in healthy ones; at the time sick infants show a decrease in bifido- and lactobacteria.

RESUMO

The species and quantitative composition of the normal and conditionally pathogenic microflora of the stomach, the proximal portion of the small intestine, in material obtained by biopsy from the mucosa of this portion, and in feces was studied in 10 patients with non-specific ulcerative colitis. The study was made before and after treatment. Before treatment in most of the patients gastric juice and the proximal portion of the small intestine were found to be greatly contaminated with microflora commonly present in feces, and in fecal microflora sharp dysbiotic changes were observed. As a result of treatment the microflora was essentially normalized (with the exception of Proteus and bifidobacteria).

RESUMO

Two different mutants of Hly 212 plasmide induced by diethyl sulfate were isolated; one of these was characterized by temperature-dependent synthesis, and the other--by temperature-sensitivity of hemolysin produced. In difference from bacteria possessing wild parental plasmide, E. coli K12 bacteria which contained the mutants produced no cytotoxic action on the MK2 cell culture. This correlated with the absence of the hemolytic activity in growing them even at permissible temperature on medium No 199. After crossing the mutant plasmides there were obtained clones with completely restored wild phenotype of the hemolysin production and the cytotoxic activity. The data obtained pointed to the relationship between the cytotoxicity and hemolysin.
