RESUMO

From the chiral Schiff base tridentate ligand LPh, unusual acetonitrile-bridged dinuclear palladium complex 1 and organopalladium complex 1' were synthesized selectively by using acetonitrile and ethanol, respectively. The chiral tridentate Schiff base ligand was bound to the palladium metal center with different chelation modes ([ONO] for 1 and [CNO] for 1'). Complex 1 constitutes the first example of dinuclear metal complexes connected only by a bridging acetonitrile, in which an exceptionally short C≡N bond distance [0.945(12) Å] of bridged acetonitrile was observed. To study the influence of a phenyl group attached to an imine, the phenyl-free ligand LH was prepared and used. In that case, an acetonitrile bridge was not observed. Theoretical calculation studies supporting the formation of 1 and 1' are favored.

RESUMO

Silicon is an attractive anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) because of its natural abundance and excellent theoretical energy density. However, Si-based electrodes are difficult to commercialize because of their significant volume changes during lithiation that can result in mechanical damage. To overcome this limitation, we synthesized an eco-friendly water-soluble polyimide (W-PI) precursor, poly(amic acid) salt (W-PAmAS), as a binder for Si anodes via a simple one-step process using water as a solvent. Using the W-PAmAS binder, a composite Si electrode was achieved by low-temperature processing at 150 °C. The adhesion between the electrode components was further enhanced by introducing 3,5-diaminobenzoic acid, which contains free carboxylic acid (-COOH) groups in the W-PAmAS backbone. The -COOH of the W-PI binder chemically interacts with the surface of Si nanoparticles (SiNPs) by forming ester bonds, which efficiently bond the SiNPs, even during severe volume changes. The Si anode with W-PI binder showed improved electrochemical performance with a high capacity of 2061 mAh g-1 and excellent cyclability of 1883 mAh g-1 after 200 cycles at 1200 mA g-1. Therefore, W-PI can be used as a highly effective polymeric binder in Si-based high-capacity LIBs.

RESUMO

The conventional Phillips ethylene trimerization catalyst prepared by reacting Cr(EH)3 (EH = 2-ethylhexanoate), 2,5-dimethylpyrrole (Me2C4H2NH), Et3Al, and Et2AlCl in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent was improved to obtain a congener composed of a new chromium precursor (EH)2CrOH, (Me2C4H2N)AlEt2, and Et3Al·ClAlEt2. Reaction of CrCl3 with 3 equiv. Na(EH) in water did not generate Cr(EH)3, but unexpectedly produced (EH)2CrOH. In comparison with the erratic catalytic performance of the original Phillips system, due to the ill-defined nature of the Cr(EH)3 source (16 or 6.8 × 10(6) g per mol-Cr h depending on the source), the improved system exhibited consistently high activity (54 × 10(6) g per mol-Cr h). Reaction of (EH)2CrOH with (Me2C4H2N)AlMe2·OEt2 afforded the dimeric Cr(II)-complex (6) coordinated by (η(5)-Me2C4H2N)AlMe2(NC4H2Me2) and µ2-κ(1):η(2)-Me2C4H2N ligands. 6 provided highly active species when activated with Et3Al·ClAlEt2.

RESUMO

Post-metallocenes were constructed for olefin polymerization using 1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10-octahydro[1,10]phenanthroline and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro[1,10]phenanthroline derivatives. A series of zirconium complexes - LZrCl2(NHMe2)2 [L = 2,9-H2-C12H12N2 (4), 2,9-Me2-C12H12N2 (5), 2,9-nBu2-C12H12N2 (6), and 2,9-iPr2-C12H12N2 (7)] - and hafnium complexes - LHfCl2(NHMe2)2 [L = 2,9-H2-C12H12N2 (8), 2,9-Me2-C12H12N2 (9), 2,9-nBu2-C12H12N2 (10), and 2,9-iPr2-C12H12N2 (11)] - were synthesized via the reaction of octahydro[1,10]phenanthrolines (2,9-R2-C12H12(NH)2) with (Me2N)2MCl2 (DME). The reaction of 2,9-R2-C12H12(NH)2 with (PhCH2)2ZrCl2 in the presence of a small amount of THF afforded a series of THF adduct analogs, i.e., LZrCl2(THF)2 [L = 2,9-H2-C12H12N2 (12), 2,9-Me2-C12H12N2 (13), 2,9-nBu2-C12H12N2 (14), and 2,9-iPr2-C12H12N2 (15)]. The treatment of 12 and 13 with excess Me3Al resulted in the formation of unexpected complexes, i.e., (η(4)-LAlMe2)ZrCl2(Me) [L = 2,9-H2-C12H12N2 (16) and 2,9-Me2-C12H12N2 (17)], in which the Me2Al unit forms a five-membered ring through binding with the two nitrogen donors and the MeCl2Zr unit slips to an η(4)-binding mode containing the N-C-C-N fragment. The treatment of tetrahydro[1,10]phenanthrolines [2,9-R2-C12NH9(NH)] with M(CH2Ph)4 afforded tribenzyl zirconium complexes LZr(CH2Ph)3 - [L = 2,9-Me2-C12NH9N (18) and 2,9-nBu2-C12NH9N (19)] - and hafnium complexes - LHf(CH2Ph)3 [L = 2,9-Me2-C12NH9N (20), 2,9-nBu2-C12NH9N (21), and 2,9-iPr2-C12NH9N (22)]. The structures of 4, 5, 12, 17, and 22 were elucidated by X-ray crystallography. The newly prepared complexes were screened for ethylene/1-octene copolymerization activity: 12 and 16 were potent catalysts (activities of 74 × 10(6) g mol-Zr h(-1) at ∼120 °C under 30 bar ethylene) for the production of wax-like low-molecular weight polyethylene (Mn: ∼5000), which is widely used in industry.
