RESUMO

AIM: Repeated occupational exposure and increased stress and fatigue levels contribute to a high risk of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection among frontline nurses. This study aimed to explore the relationships among teamwork, work environment and resources, work-life balance, stress perception and burnout among nurses working at a dedicated infectious disease control hospital. METHODS: The participants were 389 nurses at a dedicated infectious disease control hospital in Taipei City, Taiwan. This study adopted survey design with a questionnaire using the Safety Attitude Questionnaire. RESULTS: The work-life balance among nurses at the dedicated hospital significantly mediated the effects of teamwork and work environment and resources on burnout. In addition, stress perception had interaction effects on work-life balance and burnout. CONCLUSION: This study's results provide important recommendations for managing teamwork, work environment and resources, work-life balance, stress perception and burnout prevention in nurses to help them better prepare and cope with emergencies. Findings can serve as a reference for developing relevant hospital management policies.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: How to help workers establish a safe and healthy working environment is the primary purpose of promoting workplace health psychology. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between interpersonal resources and job performance (work performance, organizational citizen behavior). Besides, this study tries to clarify the psychological mechanisms of vitality and emotional attachment, and further considers the moderating role of group harmony. METHODS: Questionnaires were used. Two samples included 267 and 285 questionnaires were collected in study 1. A total of 151 valid and matched surveys were collected in study 2. RESULTS: Study 1 tested the psychometric properties of the interpersonal resources scale, and then, established three constructs of interpersonal resources: "interpersonal caring", "interpersonal inclusion", and "interpersonal connection". Study 2 results showed positive correlations between interpersonal resources and job performance. Vitality has the mediating effect between interpersonal resources and work performance, and emotional attachment has the mediating effect between interpersonal resources and organizational citizen behaviors. In addition, the moderating effects of group harmony were supported. CONCLUSION: This research covered two studies to clarify the construct of interpersonal resources and develop an interpersonal resources scale with reliability and validity. Furthermore, this research further discussed the theoretical meaning and practical application and explained the future research direction. This research not only responds to experts' calls but also considers the influence of cultural values to examine the model of interpersonal resources.

METHODS: Questionnaire was used to collect data form 401 employees in the transport service industry in Taiwan. RESULTS: (1) Workload was positively related with need for recovery after work; (2) group interaction quality was negatively related with need for recovery after work; (3) need for recovery after work was positively related with fatigue; (4) fatigue was positively related with job accidents. CONCLUSIONS: The findings highlight the importance for organizations to provide adequate work design and build a supportive working environment, which may ultimately contribute to decreased psychological strain and fewer job accidents.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study explored whether perceived usefulness and perceived ease-of-use generate mediating effects between personal involvement and attitudes toward paying for usage, and further examining the moderating effects of social influence and company type. METHODS: Questionnaires were used. A total of 365 employees, 218 from the private sector and 147 from the municipal government in Taipei City were collected. RESULTS: Perceived ease-of-use mediates between personal involvement and attitude toward paying for usage. The social influences of different types of public and private employment differ significantly in terms of their moderating effects on personal involvement and perceived ease-of-use. CONCLUSION: Due to the different workplace characteristics of private sector and government employees, they have different attitudes toward paying for technology-based health management applications in the future, and social influence is also an important moderating factor.
