RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: (1) To compare older adults stratified by supraspinatus tendon tear status (STT status)-no tear (Intact), partial-thickness (PT) tear, full-thickness (FT) tear-by 3D Dixon fat fraction (3D-FF); 2D fat fraction (2D-FF); and 2D Goutallier grade (2D-GG) at the Y-shaped view, and 1.4 cm and 2.8 cm medial to the Y-shaped view. Stratified by STT status to determine (2) correlation of 3D-FF with 2D-FF and 2D-GG and (3) inter-rater reliability at and medial to the Y-shaped view. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty-five volunteers ≥ 60 years recruited prospectively received shoulder MRI. 3D-FF and 2D-FF were measured on 6-point-Dixon MRI by three trainees. Goutallier grade was assessed on T1-weighted MRI by three fellowship-trained diagnostic radiologists. Descriptive, reliability, and correlation analyses were performed. RESULTS: Groups showed no difference in age. The FT group showed higher (p < 0.05) mean 3D-FF (14.09% ± 10.99%), mean 2D-FF (1.4 cm medial to Y-shaped view, 14.91% ± 12.11%; 2.8 cm medial to Y-shaped view, 13.32% ± 9.48%), and mean 2D-GG (Y-shaped view, 1.71 ± 0.78; 1.4 cm medial to Y-shaped view, 1.71 ± 0.69; 2.8 cm medial to Y-shaped view, 1.71 ± 0.72), relative to Intact/PT groups. 3D-FF showed strong correlation with 2D-FF among all groups/all analyses (rho, 0.80-0.98; p < 0.001). 3D-FF showed strong correlation with 2D-GG for all FT group analyses (rho, 0.85-0.91; p < 0.05). 3D-FF showed moderate-to-strong correlation considering all Intact/PT group analyses (rho, 0.51-0.79; p < 0.50). Dixon fat fraction showed excellent reliability for all groups (≥ 0.884, intraclass correlation coefficient). Goutallier grade showed excellent reliability for FT group (0.771, weighted Fleiss's kappa) but poor (0.294) and fair (0.502) for Intact and PT groups, respectively. CONCLUSION: Single slice MR image estimation of 3D supraspinatus intramuscular fatty infiltration has merit for continued use in clinical populations requiring potential rotator-cuff-repair surgery. However, Dixon fat fraction should be prioritized for use in research over Goutallier grade due to superior reliability.

RESUMO

Arthroplasty-related pseudotumors are nonneoplastic and noninfectious inflammatory masses that are typically associated with adverse reaction to metal debris. Pseudotumors most commonly occur in the setting of metal-on-metal joint replacements at the hip. However, the presentation of pseudotumor at the shoulder is exceedingly rare. In this article, we reported a case of arthroplasty-related pseudotumor of the scapula. Clinical history, radiologic signs, and tissue analysis are described. Knowledge of this rare diagnosis will support clinical decision making for teams of radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, and orthopaedic surgeons who provide care for patients presenting with suspicious shoulder masses.

RESUMO

MAIN CONCLUSION: The comparison of the changes of the lipid content in plant cell boundary membranes demonstrates a substantial role of the vacuolar membrane in response to hyperosmotic stress. Comparison of variations in the lipid content of plant cell boundary membranes (vacuolar and plasma membranes) isolated from beet root tissues (Beta vulgaris L.) was conducted after the effect of hyperosmotic stress. Both types of membranes participate in the formation of protective mechanisms, but the role of the vacuolar membrane was considered as more essential. This conclusion was connected with more significant adaptive variations in the content and composition of sterols and fatty acids in the vacuolar membrane (although some of the adaptive variations, especially, in the composition of phospholipids and glycoglycerolipids were similar for both types of membranes). In the plasma membrane under hyperosmotic stress, the increase in the content of sphingolipids was noted that was not observed in the tonoplast.

RESUMO

The investigation of the lipid-protein microdomains of the plasmalemma isolated with the aid of the non-detergent technique in the zones of the sucrose density gradient after high-speed centrifugation from the tissue pieces of beet roots, which underwent oxidative stress, was conducted. The microdomains, whose lipid composition - according to the definition - allowed us to classify them as rafts, were studied. After the exposure to oxidative stress (100 mM hydrogen peroxide), the variations in the composition of membrane lipids bound up mainly with the elevations of the content of raft-forming lipids (sterols, sterol esters). Oxidative stress provoked redistribution in the composition of sterols, which led to an elevation in the content of campesterol and in the ratio of stigmasterol/sitosterol. Furthermore, the variations were registered in the content of phospholipids and phosphoglycerolipids, which are capable of stabilizing the lamellar structure of membranes. The results obtained allow one to assume that under the oxidative stress, variations in the composition of lipids in microdomains of the plasma membrane can take place. These variations may influence the functioning of the membranes, and the membranes may participate in the protection of the plant cell.

RESUMO

Background: The purpose of this work is to study the prospects of using charity lotteries as a marketing tool for involving consumers and employees in charitable activities. Methods: The research methodology is based on the principles of the theory of planned behavior by Ajzen. Results: The study confirmed that behavioral intention is correlated with actual behavior. Subjective norms factors have the most significant influence on behavioral intention. Conclusions: Correlation analysis allowed us to establish a weak effect of socio-demographic characteristics (Age, Gender, Capital Status, Ownership of Home, Educational Qualification, Employment, Annual Income) on behavior. The experience of participating in the lottery in the past also turned out to be insignificant. There is reason to believe that Russian consumers' decision to participate in the charity lottery is impulsive or due to pressure from their surroundings.

RESUMO

Background: Some firms with good growth opportunities and additional funds could have difficulties accessing external finance. One possible way to enhance their financial inclusion could be an exciting approach to planning the money reserve collected on a firm's account. Methods: This article aims to disclose the introduction of financial logistics as the new theoretical field of management science. The authors present, in this paper, the key findings on the development of logistical models of an optimum money reserve calculation taking into account digital transformation and industry 4.0 technologies and optimization methods. Results: The monetary reserve models are analogies of models of storekeeping in supply chains. The specific area of the theoretical research of logistics is shown in this paper, which could be disclosed as the subject of financial logistics as a science. The authors consider the term "Financial Logistics" based on logistics theory and money demand. Conclusions: Authors suggest the methodology of studying the nature of both financial and material flows of resources by comparing the relevant formulas. From the researchers' points of view, financial logistics could be defined as the theory of managing the cash flows based on the logistical models for calculating a corporation's cash reserve. The authors find it interesting to expand the conditions for calculating financial flows since the uncertainty of external market conditions always influences actual commercial activity.

RESUMO

The development of conceptual models of a digital city poses numerous challenges for developers. The public sector concept model has become one of the most difficult models to use. When developing algorithms to find a solution, the multidirectional interests of businesses and public institutions are combined. This type of model reflects the most acute and urgent problems faced by megapolises with regard to combining numerous localized services provided to the community in a limited territory. The administrations of both cities and regions (the scale of the smart territories) must make decisions concerning overcoming the barriers existing between the profits of commercial structures, the negative externalities generated by their activities, and the social benefits to the population in the territory under their control. It is necessary to solve this problem to achieve the effective management of enterprises belonging to the segment of long-term participants in various business activities, interacting with the surrounding social and business environment in a complex. This study takes into account the complex structures of the economic processes characteristic of megacities. The periodicity of economic processes is also taken into account. When choosing an optimization criterion, functions reflecting the level of internalization of responsibility for external effects were considered. The authors propose a mathematical model that can be used as part of the management decision support systems software, aiming at taking into account the externalities of a wide range of national, institutional, business, and social activities.

RESUMO

MAIN CONCLUSION: Variations in the content of tonoplast microdomains, isolated with the aid of a non-detergent technique, are induced by osmotic stress and may take part in plant cell adaptive mechanisms. Investigation of tonoplast microdomain lipids isolated with the aid of the non-detergent technique from beetroots (Beta vulgaris L.) subjected to either hyperosmotic or hypoosmotic stress was conducted. Earlier, an important role of tonoplast lipids in the protection of plant cells from stress was demonstrated (Ozolina et al. 2020a). In the present paper, we have put forward a hypothesis that lipids of microdomains of raft nature present in the tonoplast are responsible for this protective function. The variations in the content of lipids of the studied nondetergent-isolated microdomains (NIMs) under hyperosmotic and hypoosmotic stresses were different. Under hyperosmotic stress, in the scrutinized microdomains, some variations in the content of lipids were registered, which were characteristic of the already known protective anti-stress mechanisms. These variations were represented by an increase in sterols and polar lipids capable of stabilizing the bilayer structure of the membranes. The found variations in the content of sterols may be bound up with some intensification of the autophagy process under stress because sterols foster the formation of new membrane contacts necessary for this process. Under hypoosmotic stress, the pattern of redistribution of the lipids in the scrutinized membrane structures was different: the largest part of the lipids appeared to be represented by hydrocarbons, which fulfilled mainly a protective function in plants and could prevent the excess water influx into the vacuole. The results obtained not only demonstrate the possible functions of the vacuolar membrane microdomains but also put forward an assumption on the role of any membrane microdomain in the protection mechanisms of the plant cell.

RESUMO

Leptogorgins A-C (1-3), new humulane sesquiterpenoids, and leptogorgoid A (4), a new dihydroxyketosteroid, were isolated from the gorgonian Leptogorgia sp. collected from the South China Sea. The structures were established using MS and NMR data. The absolute configuration of 1 was confirmed by a modification of Mosher's method. Configurations of double bonds followed from NMR data, including NOE correlations. This is the first report of humulane-type sesquiterpenoids from marine invertebrates. Sesquiterpenoids leptogorgins A (1) and B (2) exhibited a moderate cytotoxicity and some selectivity against human drug-resistant prostate cancer cells 22Rv1.

RESUMO

Three new sulfated meroterpenoids containing sesquiterpene and hydroquinone moieties, namely siphonodictyal A sulfate (1), akadisulfate A (2) and akadisulfate B (3), along with the known siphonodictyal B3 and bis(sulfato)-cyclosiphonodictyol A were isolated from the sponge Aka coralliphaga. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data. Akadisulfate B and siphonodictyal B3 showed a radical-scavenging activity comparable with that of the known lipophylic antioxidant BHT.
