[The structure of the hyaline cartilage in the plastic substitution of articular surface defects (an electron microscopic study)]. / Stroenie gialinovogo khriashcha pri plasticheskom zameshchenii defektov sustavnoi poverkhnosti (élektronno-mikroskopicheskoe issledovanie).

Results of the transplantation of the hyaline (articular) cartilage with the subchondral layer were studied in 100 mature rabbits. The transplants were treated by different methods. It was found that the hyaline cartilage of the articular transplants does not take part in reparative processes. It undergoes either partial or complete resolution. The resolution processes in auto- or allotransplantation of fresh transplants proceed longer and are characterized by gradual death of cell elements and by a destruction of the collagen structures. The demineralized osteochondrous transplants preserved in a week solution of formalin with kanamycin are closer to them in their terms and character of transformation. They are the material which should be recommended as most perspective for arthroplasty.

[State and prospects for the development of osteosynthesis in the RSFSR]. / Sostoianie i perspertivy razvitia osteosinteza v RSFSR.

In the article are considered the main problems of osteosynthesis development in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. The most long-term directions of scientific development works in this area are indicated. There is analyzed provision of treatment-and-prophylactic organizations of the Russian Federation with metal constructions, determined the necessity in metal fixing devices. There are formulated propositions on the organization of production of articles for osteosynthesis and creation of educational and production center for training of traumatologists-orthopaedists in modern methods of operative treatment of fractures.

[Use of siloxane films in the treatment of contracture of the knee joint]. / Primenenie siloksanovykh plenok pri lechenii kontraktur kolennogo sustava.

The siloxan film with programmed physiochemical characteristics possessing antimicrobial properties is proposed for the prevention of cicatrization in the knee joint area. Using this film as a pad after mobilizing operations on the knee joint has shown its high efficiency and considerably improved results of treatment.

[Reconstructive surgery in post-traumatic contractures of the knee joint]. / Rekonstruktivnye operatsii pri posttravmaticheskikh kontrakturakh kolennogo sustava.

214 patients with posttraumatic contractures of the knee joint were treated at the Leningrad Research Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 1970-1985. In 67 patients the Thompson-Kaplan operation was performed. Since 1980 an operation worked out at the Institute has been made in 194 patients. Their treatment results were much better, especially in the patients with the most severe contractures of the knee joint which developed after diaphyseal and intraarticular fractures of the femur as well as after preceding osteomyelitis or purulent gonitis.

[Stable fixation of fragments of the femur in unstable fractures]. / Zhestkaia fiksatsiia otlomkov bedrennoi kosti pri nestabil'nykh perelomakh.

The authors make an analysis of treatment of 87 patients with closed unstable fractures of diaphysis of the femoral bone with the application of their two devices for immersional and extrafocal osteosynthesis. In all 87 patients consolidation of the fracture was achieved. Results of the treatment were recognized as good in 84 patients (96.6%) and as satisfactory in 3 patients (3.4%).
