RESUMO

In order to estimate toxicity of a novel composition, enterosorbent "ultrasorb", its toxic properties were studied in trials on experimental animals (white rats, mice, guinea pigs). Great variety of hematolytic, biochemical and pathohistologic parameters were determined to evaluate homeostasis. As a result of toxicity trials in acute and subacute experiments as well as in embryotoxic, teratogenic and allergic tests we have concluded that enterosorbent "Ultrasorb" is absolutely harmless and can be recommended for further trials in clinics.

RESUMO

The adsorbing activity of granulated carbonic sorbents SKN and KAU, as well as their oxidated forms, containing protogenic carboxylic and phenolic groups with respect to Shigella flexneri, Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa pathogenic strains has been studied. As shown in this study, the process of interaction between microorganisms and carbonic sorbents has two stages. At the first stage the main role is played by long-distance electrostatic forces and at the second stage, by Van der Waals short-distance forces, as well as bonds formed between cell structures and surface groupings of carbonaceous materials. In the mechanism of interaction between microbial cells and carbons the geometry of carbon surface plays an important role. KAU(0)-1 exhibits the highest degree of adhesion with respect to pathogenic bacteria.

RESUMO

To give sorbents the bactericidal action, a modification of the carbonic sorbents by the metals is suggested. Modification of the SKN and KAU sorbents by copper and zinc didn't reduce sorption by them of microorganisms and their toxins. Inhibitory effect of a sorbent was provided by the lower concentrations of the copper and zinc than by those which in the solution of metallic salts had only bacteriostatic effect.

RESUMO

The use of SKN P-1 and SKN P-2 carbonic enterosorbents in the complex treatment of the patients contributed to decrease in pronouncement of cholemic intoxication. A method is easy, noninvasive, its use is recommended in patients, the elderly and senile in particular, with obstructive jaundice.

RESUMO

The investigation of the effect of perfusion through the activated charcoal upon the biochemical and morphological parameters of the donor blood stored with the glucose-cytrate conservant during 14-21 days has shown normalization of the acid-base status, increased oxygen-transport function and energy balance of erythrocytes. So, blood continuously stored and purified with the help of sorbents is quite suitable for massive transfusions.

RESUMO

The paper is concerned with materials characterizing physicochemical properties of haemosorbents of varying grades. Adsorption of different uraemic toxins was studied. The possibility of microembolization of internal organs and tissues with haemosorbent particles was explored in the course of prolonged treatment with the use of haemosorption. Different approaches to connecting the sorption column to the dialyzer were examined to disclose an optimal variant. The authors report the results of applying haemosorption in patients who had received haemodialysis therapy to prevent complications. The blood response to the prolonged haemosorption treatment was analyzed. It is recommended that long-term (6-7 hours) sessions of haemosorption might be performed using carbons having high sorption capacity.
