RESUMO

The serum lipoprotein profile was determined in 37 patients with chronic ischemic heart disease (IHD) and 100 practically healthy subjects, aged from 18 to 45. HLP was found in 59.5 per cent of the patients examined, 50 per cent in males and 100 per cent in females. Type IV has the highest incidence (54.5%), followed by type IIB(36.4%) and type IIa (9.1 per cent). In 27 per cent of the patients with no HLP determined, less significant changes in LDLP and VLDLP were found, admitted to be dyslipoproteinemia (DLP). HLP and DLP were confirmed in 86.5 per cent of the patients examined. In all patients serum concentration of HDLP-Chol was decreased (mostly in DLP and type IV HLP), whereas the level of HDLP-Tg was increased in most of the cases. As a result, the intralipoprotein index 1(2)(=HDLP-Chol/HDLP-Tg) was decreased, reaching the lowest values in IIa and type IV HLP. The only index of all studied, being changed (elevated) with a statistical significance in all groups of patients with IHD, in those with normolipoproteinemia (NLP) including, was the lipoprotein index II(=LDLP-Chol and VLDLP-Chol/HDLP-Chol). With the morbid process progressing, assessed by ECG data, the functional stage of stenocardia, the degree of the constriction and the number of the pathologically altered coronary arteries, the incidence of NLP, DLP and type IV HLP distinctly decreased, whereas IIa and IIB type HLP increased.

RESUMO

Plasma prolactin level was studied in 92 practically healthy subjects, distributed into three age groups--20-44, 60-74 and 75-90 as well as in 25 patients with hypertonic disease (HD) aged over 60 and 30 subjects with hyperlipoproteinemia. Plasma prolactin was determined radioimmunologically. The results obtained show that plasma prolactin level is not essentially changed with age advancing. A tendency of plasma prolactin reduction in elderly and aged people is observed but the difference versus the control group is statistically insignificant. The females from the young age group, show significantly higher values of prolactin versus the males. In the elderly and aged people, the differences according to sex in prolactin level disappears, most likely due to dying out of ovarian function of the females and reduction of the stimulating effect of estrogens upon prolactin secretion. The patients with hypertonic disease over 60 and the males with hyperlipoproteinemia show a significant elevation of plasma prolactin as compared with the subjects from the control group.

RESUMO

The authors examined in 125 young sexually mature and in 50 young sexually immature male rabbits of a New Zealand improved Bulgarian breed the following serum lipid indices: total lipids, total and free cholesterol triglycerides, phospholipids, cholesterol and triglyceride content of VLDL (very low density lipoproteins), LDL (high density lipoproteins), HDL (high density lipoproteins) and the percentage concentration of serum lipopropteins, examined electrophoretically. The concentrations of the examined lipid and lipoprotein fractions in the sera of both age groups of rabbits showed asymetrical distribution. The hystograms of the total lipids and total cholesterol in younger animals was excluded. The logarithnictrandsformation of asymetricaly distributed concentrations of the examined fractions normalized their distribution in a part of them. The authors determined the ranges of the norm with the help of the percentile analysis in the remaining indices with asymetric distribution. Serum lipid and lipoprotein profile revealed substantial differnces in both age groups of animals. Serum lipids and lipoproteins in young sexually mature male rabbits differed from those of a man not only by their absolute concentrations, but also by their structural characteristics.
