RESUMO

Reconstruction of the thoracic wall is often necessary after cancer surgery of the breast or irradiation. The resulting large defects often cause an instable thoracic wall. To reconstruct stability, we can use fascia or dura mater. The large defects can be closed either by latissimus flap, or, if the thoracodorsal artery is destroyed, which is often the case by rotating flaps according to the technique of Schrudde or Bohmert, in very rare cases by distant flaps from the neighbouring upper arm.

RESUMO

Preserved allogeneic bone is possibly to repair the permanent shortness in autogeneic bone tissue in clinical practice. Complications as to the incorporation were observed after using lyophilised allogeneic implants. These were attributes to immunologic defense reaction. Demineralised bone caused a more intensive bone regeneration histologically than lyophilised bone. The clinical test of a superficial demineralised lyophilised preserved bone with osteoinductive potency and structural stability is recommended.

RESUMO

UNLABELLED: The immunological compatibility of the pig skin preparation, Xenoderm was tested in an animal model. Firstly an experimental conception was selected which seized the immune degree of Xenoderm on the humoral and cellular level in animal test. Specific immune reactions should be provoked in rabbit after a repeated artificial immunisation by soluble protein extracts respectively by means of recured implantation of Xenoderm tissue pieces and native pig skin. Test period 3-6 months. RESULTS: Native pig skin of the offered configuration induced an intensive humoral and cellular immune reaction in experimental animal. Xenoderm was immunologically inert after application as a soluble protein extract in different concentrations and also as an implant. Xenoderm (desantigenic splitted pig skin preserve) is suitable as a temporary skin replacement for the therapy of skin defects.

RESUMO

Several strains of Rhodotorula were crossed with the strains IFO 0559a and IFO 0880alpha of Rhodotorula glutinis. We found nine new sexual Rhodotorula strains, belongong to the species Rh. glutinis, Rh. aurantiaca and Rh. rubra. 22 combinations, whose physiological and biochemical qualities were found out, followed from crossings of all sexual strains. The cell walls of some selected mycel combinations contained a pore in the center. Resting spores and life cycles of all combinations correspond to Rhodosporidium toruloides Banno. Results and taxonomical problems are being discussed.
