RESUMO

Reaction of a transiently formed terminal phosphinidene complex with triethylamine resulted in the formation of an sp3 C-H insertion product, as revealed by 31P NMR spectroscopy, which was isolated as semi-solid compound. However, if the reaction was continued for 24 h, a primary phosphane complex was obtained eventually. The compounds were characterised by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Formation of the final products is explained by a mechanistic proposal based on DFT calculations.

RESUMO

The coronavirus outbreak dramatically changed the work culture in the software industry. Most software practitioners began working remotely, which significantly revolutionized the traditional software processes landscape. Software development organizations have begun thinking about automating software processes to cope with the challenges raised by remote work. This special issue presents papers describing soft computing solutions for improving traditional software processes and capabilities. This editorial introduces the accepted papers and reflects on their contributions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Venous outflow reconstruction is very important especially in right lobe living donor liver transplantation without middle hepatic vein. Various interposition (venous or synthetic) grafts have been recommended for reconstruction of anterior sector tributaries. METHODS: We aimed to describe our surgical technique and analyze anterior sector venous reconstruction using expanded polytetrafluroethylene graft. Retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data for 760 primary right lobe living donor liver transplantations performed at our institute between December 2011 and June 2018. Reconstruction of anterior sector: expanded polytetrafluroethylene (group A, n = 705) and autologous vein (group B, n = 55). RESULTS: Pretransplant characteristics were comparable among both groups. Group A has significantly lower cold ischemia time (68.7 ± .3.5 minutes vs 127.8 ± 7.2 minutes; P < .001) and anhepatic time (116.3 ± 5.5 minutes vs 190.81 ± 9.35 minutes; P < .001) compared with group B. There was no difference in recovery pattern of liver functions, morbidity, and mortality between the 2 groups. One- and 6-month patency rates of interposition grafts were 97.6% and 84.4% (group A) and 96.4% and 78.1% (group B), respectively. CONCLUSION: In centers with limited access to homologous or autologous vascular grafts, use of expanded polytetrafluroethylene graft for anterior sector venous outflow reconstruction in right lobe living donor liver transplantation is a viable option with excellent patency and patient outcomes.

RESUMO

The transiently generated electrophilic terminal phosphinidene complex [(CO)5WPCH(SiMe3)2] reacted with allyl halides (X = F, Cl, Br) in toluene resulting in the formation of stable C-X insertion products 3a-c and diastereomeric phosphirane complexes 4a,a',b,b' as well as methylenephosphirane complex 5 as observed by 31P{1H} NMR spectroscopy. DFT calculations revealed that a novel rearrangement of transient phosphirane complexes is responsible involving C → P X atom transfer.

RESUMO

Biliary complications are a significant cause of morbidity after living donor liver transplant (LDLT). Bile leak may occur from bile duct (anastomotic site in recipient and repaired bile duct stump in donor), cystic duct stump, cut surface pedicles or from divided caudate ducts. The first three sites are amenable to post-operative endoscopic stenting as they are in continuation with biliary ductal system. However, leaks from divided isolated caudate ducts can be stubborn. To minimize caudate duct bile leaks, it is important to understand the anatomy of hilum with attention to the caudate lobe biliary drainage. This single-centre prospective study of 500 consecutive LDLTs between December 2011 and December 2016 aims to define the biliary anatomy of the caudate lobe in liver donors based on intraoperative cholangiograms (IOCs) with special attention to crossover caudate ducts and to study their implications in LDLT. Caudate ducts were identified in 468 of the 500 IOCs. Incidence of left-to-right crossover drainage was 61.37% and right to left was 21.45%. Incidence of bile leak in donors was 0.8% and in recipients was 2.2%. Proper intraoperative identification and closure of divided isolated caudate ducts can prevent bile leak in donors as well as recipients.

RESUMO

Sweet sorghum bagasse with leaf residue (SSBLR) based complete diets with high or low protein and high- or low-energy levels were evaluated in a 60-day growth trial using growing sheep. Twenty-eight Deccani ram lambs were divided into four groups (16.0 ± 0.59 kg) of seven each and fed low-protein high-/low-energy and high-protein high-/low-energy diets ad lib. Average daily gain (g; P < 0.05) and feed efficiency (P < 0.01) were significantly higher in lambs fed high energy than those with low-energy diets, and cost per kg gain ($) was significantly lower (P < 0.05) in low protein than high-protein diets. Dry matter intake (DMI) (g/day) was not significantly affected either by protein or energy level in the diet, but dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), protein, and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) digestibilities were higher significantly (P < 0.01) in high protein/energy diets than low protein/energy diets. Crude protein (CP) intake (g/day) was significantly (P < 0.001) higher in lambs fed high protein than low-protein diets. However, N balance (g/day) was significantly (P < 0.001) higher in lambs fed low protein than high-protein diets. It is concluded that feeding of SSBLR-based diet with low protein (CP 12.9 %) and high energy (9.4 MJ metabolizable energy (ME)/kg DM) was recommended for better performance, nitrogen retention, and returns from growing Deccani ram lambs.

RESUMO

Terminalia belerica seeds, collected from Indian forests, were explored as an alternate bioresource for biodiesel synthesis. The oil yield of T. belerica seed is about 31% (dry weight basis). The fatty acid profile of T. belerica seed oil shows predominance of oleic acid (C(18:1)) glycerides (61.5%) along with linoleic (18.5%) and palmitic (11.6%) glycerides. Oil was extracted and evaluated for physico-chemical properties vis-a-vis jatropha, sunflower, soybean and rapeseed oil. T. belerica oil was transesterified with methanol in the presence of sodium methoxide catalyst. The physico-chemical properties of synthesized methyl ester were compared to jatropha, sunflower, soybean and rapeseed methyl esters as per ASTM D-6751 specification of biodiesel. Synthesized T. belerica methyl ester was also blended in diesel at 5-20% ratios and evaluated for key physico-chemical properties as per IS 1460 specification and found to meet in properties evaluated as per specific standards. The study revealed the possibility of T. belerica seed oil as potential resource of biodiesel.

RESUMO

Guizotia abyssinica seeds, a common bird feedstock, have been explored for the potential of biodiesel synthesis. The oil was extracted from the seeds by solvent extraction and composition of G. abyssinica oil was examined. The reaction parameters for biodiesel synthesis have been optimized. Temperature, oil: methanol ratio, catalyst type and catalyst concentration were found to have significant role on ester conversion. According to this study, the maximum yield of ester (98.7%) can be obtained with optimized sodium methoxide catalyst dosage (0.6%) at an operational temperature of 65 degrees C. Methyl ester of G. abyssinica oil was also studied for its oxidation stability and low temperature properties. Further, the synthesized product was blended in diesel at 5-20% ratios and evaluated for physico-chemical properties.

RESUMO

Comparative studies on the reactivity of a transiently formed terminal phosphinidene complex towards various organobromide derivatives show that carbon-bromine bond insertion is preferred with benzyl bromide, whereas formal HBr-insertion resulted with 2-bromopyridine and a surprising selectivity enhancement (of the phosphinidene complex) was observed with bromobenzene; all new products were established by elemental analyses, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies.
