RESUMO

Continuous arterial hypertension which was still present three months after the experiment was achieved by long-term electrostimulation (4 cycles, 12 days each) of the rabbit hypothalamus paraventricular nucleus (PV). Stimulation of the brain subcortical regions was shown to cause excitation in frontal and occipital regions of the cortex and alteration of neurohormonal state, i.e. increase of glucocorticoid content and decrease of both catecholamines, serotonin and histamine blood level in the animals. It is concluded that pathologic functional system resulting in the development of the arterial hypertension is produced on the basis of the generator of pathologically increased excitation (GPIE) in the PV area.

RESUMO

Emotional stress, caused by breaking of behavioural reflex stereotype, was responsible for alterations in arterial blood pressure as well as in content of hormones, neurotransmitters, blood lipids and lipoproteins depending on typological characteristics of the cats.

RESUMO

Hydrocortisone-induced hyperlipemia was inhibited by physical loading in trained dogs and rabbits. Hyperlipemia simultaneously with activation of the kinin system was noted in physically untrained animals after the hormone treatment. At the same time, the patterns of lipid metabolism and of the kinin system components approached to the normal values in the trained animals. Importance of the phenomenon found for genesis of atherosclerosis is discussed.

RESUMO

Experiments on male rats were carried out. Prolonged emotional stress was produced by periodic pain stimulation with a weak electric current. Examination of 11-hydroxycorticosteroids (11-HOCS) in the blood and tissue levels has shown an increase in the concentration of total and free 11-HOCS during the first 30 days. By the 130th day 11-HOCS content abruptly fell in the blood and tissues despite the fact that the reserve potentialities of the adrenal cortex (ACTH test) were within normal. On the contrary, the catecholamine concentration in the animals' urine sharply rose by the end of the experiments.

RESUMO

An automatic electric stimulation elicited a long-term focus in food motivation centers in rabbits, whose food-getting instrumental activity, EEG and some vegetosomatic parameters were studied. The focus induced the epileptiform EEG activity spreading from the hypothalamus up to the cerebral cortex. The food instrumental responses were either abruptly intensified or inhibited depending on the electrode localization. After cessation of the electric stimulation the focus remained without any sign of fading for one month.

RESUMO

The experiments on physically trained and untrained dogs have shown that violent physical exertion (racing up to complete exhaustion) in the presence of emotional stress enhances stress-induced hyperlipemia. The untrained animals developed especially abrupt changes in lipid metabolism. In the trained animals the repeated cycles (stress without complete exhaustion) made the adrenal function and lipid metabolism return to normal and stabilize irrespective of exposures. A decrease in the adrenal function in the untrained animals with hyperlipemia is considered to be the atherogenic factor. The role of physical activity in atherosclerosis control is discussed.

RESUMO

Rabbits kept under conditions of free behavior were exposed to long-term electrostimulation of negative and positive emotiogenic zones of the hypothalamus by means of a special autonomous nutrition system. It is shown that long-term electrostimulation of the negative emotiogenic hypothalamic zones followed by rest causes disorders of lipid metabolism and vascular permeability and the development of atherosclerosis. The development of atherosclerosis intensifies in alternated electrostimulation of the negative and positive emotiogenic zones and rest. Electrostimulation of the positive emotiogenic hypothalamic zones does not induce atherogenic changes in the vessels. It is suggested that the atherogenic lipoproteins infiltrate into the aorta after the cessation of negative emotional stress attended by the development of positive emotional states and rest.

RESUMO

In experiments on freely moving rabbits a focus of hyperactivity in the initiative centers of food motivation was created by means of blocking the inhibitory mechanisms in the lateral hypothalamus (LH) exposed to tetanus toxin (group I) or chronic electric stimulation (group II). The evoked syndromes were marked by intensity of food hypermotivation. The syndrome provoked by injection of tetanus toxin was characterized by an extremely rapid development, pronounced symptomatology of hyperphagia and severe progress. Concurrently, a pronounced epileptiform activity was recorded in LH, thus indicating the formation of a generator of pathologically enhanced excitation in the "pacemakers" of food motivation. The animals showed completely altered mechanisms of an adequate correction on the behaviour, depending on the results obtained. The syndrome provoked by chronic electric stimulation of LH was characterized by a slower formation and favourable course with a relatively weak epileptiform activity recorded in LH. Food hypermotivation was also demonstrated by the rabbits in the late periods after the commencement of electric stimulation; the adaptive pattern of the animals' behaviour remained unchanged. Occurence of the two syndromes of food hypermotivation is related to the formation of the excitation genertors that differ in the intensity of excitation they produce.

RESUMO

Rabbits and dogs exposed to regular physical exercises for 90 days developed an increase of the functional activity of adrenal glands and kinin system of the blood along with steady hyperlipidemia (rabbits--within 50 days, dogs--within 30 days). These unfavourable changes have to be taken into consideration at a single intensive physical exercise for an untrained organism. Prolonged regular exercises lead to adaptation and normalizing of all these parameters.

RESUMO

The role of adrenal cortex hormones in the development of vascular changes was studied in 16 rabbits with alloxan diabetes. Formation of morphological changes in the aorta proved to be partially determined by functional condition of the adrenal cortex at the early periods of alloxan diabetes.

RESUMO

The influence of prolonged electrical stimulation of rabbit hypothalamus on blood lipids and the development of atherosclerosis were studied. The negative emotional state observed during the electrical stimulation was accompanied by blood hyperlipemia and atherosclerosis development in 1/3 noncastrated and 2/3 castrated animals.
