RESUMO

A series of indazole analogs, derived from the B,C-ring-truncated scaffold of deguelin, were designed to function as C-terminal inhibitors of heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) and investigated as novel antitumor agents against HER2-positive breast cancer. Among the synthesized compounds, compound 12d exhibited substantial inhibitory effects in trastuzumab-sensitive (BT474) and trastuzumab-resistant (JIMT-1) breast cancer cells, with IC50 values of 6.86 and 4.42 µM, respectively. Notably, compound 12d exhibited no cytotoxicity in normal cells. Compound 12d markedly downregulated the expression of the major HSP90 client proteins in both cell types, attributing its cytotoxicity to the destabilization and inactivation of HSP90 client proteins. Molecular docking studies using the homology model of an HSP90 homodimer demonstrated that inhibitor 12d fit nicely into the C-terminal domain, boasting a higher electrostatic complementary score than ATP. In vivo pharmacokinetic study indicated the high oral bioavailability of compound 12 d at F = 66.9 %, while toxicological studies indicated its negligible impact on hERG channels and CYP isozymes. Genotoxicity tests further confirmed its safety profile. The findings collectively position compound 12d as a promising candidate for further development as an antitumor agent against HER2-positive breast cancer.

BACKGROUND: This cadaveric study aimed to analyze injectate spread to target nerves during a single-injection, ultrasound-guided intertransverse process block. METHODS: An ultrasound-guided intertransverse process block with three different injectate volumes was administered to 12 cadavers. Each hemithorax was subjected to computer-generated random allocation of 10, 15, or 20 mL ultrasound-guided, single-injection intertransverse process block at the T2 vertebral level. Latex dye solution was injected into each hemithorax in accordance with the allocated volume. The presence of dye at the nerve root in the sympathetic chain and intercostal nerves at various injection levels was examined via dissection. RESULTS: Injectate spread into the dorsal rami was observed in seven of eight (87.5%), seven of eight (87.5%), and all eight (100%) of the 10, 15, and 20 mL specimens, respectively. In all 20 mL specimens, consistent staining of the dorsal rami, spinal nerve, and dorsal root ganglion was observed. CONCLUSIONS: An injectate volume of 20 mL was required for consistent staining of the dorsal rami, spinal nerve, and dorsal root ganglion in an intertransverse process block. Although an augmented injectate volume was associated with an increased likelihood of target nerve staining, consistent staining of the sympathetic ganglion, rami communicans, and ventral ramus was not observed, even at a volume of 20 mL. The current study presents initial findings suggesting that as opposed to a sympathetic ganglion block, a 20 mL intertransverse process block may act as a feasible substitute for dorsal root ganglion, spinal nerve, and medial branch blocks within a clinical context.

Xanthorhodopsin (XR), a retinal-binding 7-transmembrane protein isolated from the eubacterium Salinibacter ruber, utilizes two chromophores (retinal and salinixanthin (SAL)) as an outward proton pump and energy-donating carotenoid. However, research on XR has been impeded owing to limitations in achieving heterogeneous expression of stable forms and high production levels of both wild-type and mutants. We successfully expressed wild-type and mutant XRs in Escherichia coli in the presence of K+. Achieving XR expression requires significant K+ and a low inducer concentration. In particular, we highlight the significance of Ser-159 in helix E located near Gly-156 (a carotenoid-binding position) as a critical site for XR expression. Our findings indicate that replacing Ser-159 with a smaller amino acid, alanine, can enhance XR expression in a manner comparable to K+, implying that Ser-159 poses a steric hindrance for pigment formation in XR. In the presence of K+, the proton pumping and photocycle of the wild-type and mutants were characterized and compared; the wild-type result suggests similar properties to the first reported XR isolation from the S. ruber membrane fraction. We propose that the K+ gradient across the cell membrane of S. ruber serves to uphold the membrane potential of the organism and plays a role in the expression of proteins, such as XR, as demonstrated in our study. Our findings deepen the understanding of adaptive protein expression, particularly in halophilic organisms. We highlight salt selection as a promising strategy for improving protein yield and functionality.

Speckle noise in ultrasound images (UIs) significantly reduces the accuracy of disease diagnosis. The aim of this study was to quantitatively evaluate its feasibility in salivary gland ultrasound imaging by modeling the adaptive non-local means (NLM) algorithm. UIs were obtained using an open-source device provided by SonoSkills and FUJIFILM Healthcare Europe. The adaptive NLM algorithm automates optimization by modeling the isotropic search window, eliminating the need for manual configuration in conventional NLM methods. The coefficient of variation (COV), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), and edge rise distance (ERD) were used as quantitative evaluation parameters. UIs of the salivary glands revealed evident visualization of the internal echo shape of the malignant tumor and calcification line using the adaptive NLM algorithm. Improved COV and CNR results (approximately 4.62 and 2.15 times, respectively) compared with noisy images were achieved. Additionally, when the adaptive NLM algorithm was applied to the UIs of patients with salivary gland sialolithiasis, the noisy images and ERD values were calculated almost similarly. In conclusion, this study demonstrated the applicability of the adaptive NLM algorithm in optimizing search window parameters for salivary gland UIs.

Gastric cancer (GC) survivors may be more likely to develop osteoporosis. However, few studies on the relationship between GC and osteoporosis have been conducted on large patient populations. We aimed to determine the incidence of osteoporosis and identify related factors by comparing patients with GC and matched controls using the Korean National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort (KNHIS-NSC). This study included 9078 patients with GC and 36,312 controls (1:4 propensity score-matched for sex, age, residence, and income). The hazard ratio (HR) for osteoporosis was significantly greater for GC patients than for controls according to Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) score-adjusted models (adjusted HR = 1.13). Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed that the cumulative incidence of osteoporosis during the follow-up period commencing from the index date was significantly greater in GC patients than in the controls (p = 0.0087). A positive correlation of osteoporosis with GC was detected for those aged < 65 years, males, and those with CCI scores = 0. In conclusion, the study findings suggest that men with GC aged < 65 years may be at an increased risk for osteoporosis. Research into additional risk factors and the optimal timing of interventions are needed to prevent fractures and minimize bone loss in GC survivors.

BACKGROUND: This multicenter retrospective study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of the CA-125 elimination rate constant K (KELIM) in EOC patients who received platinum-based chemotherapy followed by PARP inhibitors, in either upfront or interval treatment settings. METHODS: Between July 2019 and November 2022, we identified stage III-IV EOC patients who underwent primary or interval cytoreductive surgery and received olaparib or niraparib. Individual KELIM values were assessed based on validated kinetics and classified into favorable and unfavorable cohorts. RESULTS: In a study of 252 patients undergoing frontline maintenance therapy with olaparib or niraparib, favorable KELIM (≥1) scores were associated with a higher PFS benefit in the primary cytoreductive surgery (PCS) cohort (hazard ratio (HR) for disease progression or death 3.51, 95% confidence interval (CI); 1.37-8.97, p = 0.009). Additionally, within the interval cytoreductive surgery (ICS) cohort, a favorable KELIM score (≥1) significantly increased the likelihood of achieving complete resection following cytoreductive surgery, with 59.4% in the favorable KELIM group compared to 37.8% in those with unfavorable KELIM. CONCLUSIONS: A favorable KELIM score was associated with improved PFS in patients with advanced EOC undergoing PCS. Furthermore, in the ICS cohort, a favorable KELIM score increased the probability of complete cytoreduction.

Background/Objectives: Artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) diagnostic tools have shown excellent performance in diagnosing gastric mesenchymal tumors. This study aimed to assess whether incorporating clinical and endoscopic factors into AI-assisted EUS classification models based on digital image analysis could improve the diagnostic performance of AI-assisted EUS diagnostic tools. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 464 patients who underwent both EUS and surgical resection of gastric mesenchymal tumors, including 294 gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), 52 leiomyomas, and 41 schwannomas. AI-assisted classification models for GISTs and non-GIST tumors were developed utilizing clinical and endoscopic factors and digital EUS image analysis. Results: Regarding the baseline EUS classification models, the area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUC) values of the logistic regression, decision tree, random forest, K-nearest neighbor (KNN), and support vector machine (SVM) models were 0.805, 0.673, 0.781, 0.740, and 0.791, respectively. Using the new classification models incorporating clinical and endoscopic factors into the baseline classification models, the AUC values of the logistic regression, decision tree, random forest, KNN, and SVM models increased to 0.853, 0.715, 0.896, 0.825, and 0.794, respectively. In particular, the random forest and KNN models exhibited significant improvement in performance in Delong's test (both p < 0.001). Conclusion: The diagnostic performance of the AI-assisted EUS classification models improved when clinical and endoscopic factors were incorporated. Our results provided direction for developing new AI-assisted EUS models for gastric mesenchymal tumors.

Background: This study investigated the potential link between blood pressure variability (BPV) and the incidence of aortic stenosis (AS) using Korean National Health Insurance Service data from 2002 to 2019. Methods: We collected annual systolic blood pressure variability (SBPV) measurements consisting of three consecutive blood pressure readings each year over three years. The obtained SBPV data was divided into five quantiles, with the highest quintile representing a high fluctuation of blood pressure. Results: Analyzing 9,341,629 individuals with a mean age of 40.7 years, the study found 3981 new AS diagnoses during an average 8.66-year follow-up. Independent predictors for AS included higher blood pressure levels and elevated systolic blood pressure variability (SBPV). The hazard ratios (HR) for different SBPV quintiles compared to the reference (1st quintile) were as follows: 2nd quintile HR 1.09 (p = 0.18), 3rd quintile HR 1.13 (p = 0.04), 4th quintile HR 1.13 (p = 0.04), and 5th quintile HR 1.39 (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that both hypertension and high fluctuations in SBP during consecutive visits are associated with an increased risk of incident AS. These results emphasize the importance of blood pressure management and stability in the prevention of AS.

Background: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is one of the most common side effects of chemotherapy, and effective treatments for CIPN are still lacking. For this reason, there is a growing interest in complementary and alternative medicine as a potential source of nonsurgical treatments for CIPN symptoms alongside pregabalin. One such option being explored is Chuna manual therapy (CMT), a traditional Korean manual therapy. Methods: This study compares the effectiveness and safety of using only pregabalin (PG) as a conventional method of treating breast and colorectal cancer patients with CIPN symptoms with a combination of both PG and electroacupuncture (EA) or CMT, while also assessing the feasibility of future large-scale clinical studies. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 74 CIPN patients were recruited to this study. Twenty-five were assigned to the PG group, 26 to the PG + EA group, and 22 to the PG + CMT group for a five-week treatment and a four-week follow-up study. Results: For the primary outcome, we evaluated the mean differences in Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy/Gynecologic Oncology Group-Neurotoxicity (FACT/GOG-Ntx) compared to the baseline at week 5 (visit 4). Although we found that the PG + CMT group showed the biggest difference (-16.64 [95% CI: -25.16, -8.11]) compared to the PG group (-8.60 [95% CI: -14.93, -2.27]) and the PG + EA group (-6.73 [95% CI: -12.34, -1.13]), this finding lacked statistical significance (p = 0.2075). In terms of safety, two patients in the PG + CMT group reported side effects: one bruise and one headache. Conclusions: The low attrition and high adherence rates of all the groups, and the similar rates of side effects among them, support the feasibility of larger-scale follow-up studies.

This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic potential of Citrullus mucosospermus extract (CME) in counteracting adipogenesis and its associated metabolic disturbances in murine models. In vitro experiments utilizing 3T3-L1 preadipocytes revealed that CME potently inhibited adipocyte differentiation, as evidenced by a dose-dependent reduction in lipid droplet formation. Remarkably, CME also attenuated glucose uptake and intracellular triglyceride accumulation in fully differentiated adipocytes, suggesting its ability to modulate metabolic pathways in mature adipose cells. Translating these findings to an in vivo setting, we evaluated the effects of CME in C57BL/6N mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for 10 weeks. CME administration, concomitantly with the HFD, resulted in a significant attenuation of body weight gain compared to the HFD control group. Furthermore, CME treatment led to substantial reductions in liver weight, total fat mass, and deposits of visceral and retroperitoneal adipose tissue, underscoring its targeted impact on adipose expansion. Histological analyses revealed the remarkable effects of CME on hepatic steatosis. While the HFD group exhibited severe lipid accumulation within liver lobules, CME dose-dependently mitigated this pathology, with the highest dose virtually abolishing hepatic fat deposition. An examination of adipose tissue revealed a progressive reduction in adipocyte hypertrophy upon CME treatment, culminating in a near-normalization of adipocyte morphology at the highest dose. Notably, CME exhibited potent anti-inflammatory properties, significantly attenuating the upregulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines' mRNA levels (TNF-α, IL-1ß and IL-6) in the livers of HFD-fed mice. This suggests a potential mechanism through which CME may exert protective effects against inflammation associated with obesity and fatty liver disease.

Objectives: Electroacupuncture (EA) has been demonstrated to aid stroke recovery. However, few investigations have focused on identifying the potent molecular targets of EA by comparing EA stimulation between naïve and disease models. Therefore, this study was undertaken to identify the potent molecular therapeutic mechanisms underlying EA stimulation in ischemic stroke through a comparison of mRNA sequencing data obtained from EA-treated naïve control and ischemic stroke mouse models. Methods: Using both naïve control and middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) mouse models, EA stimulation was administered at two acupoints, Baihui (GV20) and Dazhui (GV14), at a frequency of 2 Hz. Comprehensive assessments were conducted, including behavioral evaluations, RNA sequencing to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs), functional enrichment analysis, protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis, and quantitative real-time PCR. Results: EA stimulation ameliorated the ischemic insult-induced motor dysfunction in mice with ischemic stroke. Comparative analysis between control vs. MCAO, control vs. control + EA, and MCAO vs. MCAO + EA revealed 4,407, 101, and 82 DEGs, respectively. Of these, 30, 7, and 1 were common across the respective groups. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analyses revealed upregulated DEGs associated with the regulation of inflammatory immune response in the MCAO vs. MCAO + EA comparison. Conversely, downregulated DEGs in the control vs. control + EA comparison were linked to neuronal development. PPI analysis revealed major clustering related to the regulation of cytokines, such as Cxcl9, Pcp2, Ccl11, and Cxcl13, in the common DEGs of MCAO vs. MCAO + EA, with Esp8l1 identified as the only common downregulated DEG in both EA-treated naïve and ischemic models. Conclusion: These findings underscore the diverse potent mechanisms of EA stimulation between naïve and ischemic stroke mice, albeit with few overlaps. However, the potent mechanisms underlying EA treatment in ischemic stroke models were associated with the regulation of inflammatory processes involving cytokines.

Flunixin is a veterinary nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent whose residues have been investigated in their original form within tissues such as muscle and liver. However, flunixin remains in milk as a metabolite, and 5-hydroxy flunixin has been used as the primary marker for its surveillance. This study aimed to develop a quantitative method for detecting flunixin and 5-hydroxy flunixin in milk and to strengthen the monitoring system by applying to other livestock and fishery products. Two different methods were compared, and the target compounds were extracted from milk using an organic solvent, purified with C18, concentrated, and reconstituted using a methanol-based solvent. Following filtering, the final sample was analyzed using liquid chromatography- tandem mass spectrometry. Method 1 is environmentally friendly due to the low use of reagents and is based on a multi-residue, multi-class analysis method approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The accuracy and precision of both methods were 84.6%-115% and 0.7%-9.3%, respectively. Owing to the low matrix effect in milk and its convenience, Method 1 was evaluated for other matrices (beef, chicken, egg, flatfish, and shrimp) and its recovery and coefficient of variation are sufficient according to the Codex criteria (CAC/GL 71-2009). The limits of detection and quantification were 2-8 and 5-27 µg/kg for flunixin and 2-10 and 6-33 µg/kg for 5-hydroxy flunixin, respectively. This study can be used as a monitoring method for a positive list system that regulates veterinary drug residues for all livestock and fisheries products.

INTRODUCTION: Zastaprazan is a potent potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) developed to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of zastaprazan compared to esomeprazole in patient with erosive esophagitis (EE). METHODS: A phase III, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, non-inferiority clinical study was conducted with 300 subjects with confirmed EE. Subjects were randomized to receive zastaprazan 20 mg or esomeprazole 40 mg once daily up to 8 weeks. The primary endpoint was the cumulative proportion of subject with healed EE confirmed by endoscopy at week 8. The secondary endpoints included the healing rate at week 4, symptom response and quality of life assessment. Safety profiles and serum gastrin levels were also assessed. RESULTS: In the full analysis set, the cumulative healing rate at week 8 were 97.92% (141/144) for zastaprazan and 94.93% (131/138) (P = 0.178) for esomeprazole. The healing rate at week 4 in the zastaprazan group was higher than esomeprazole group (95.14% (137/144) vs. 87.68% (121/138); P = 0.026). There was no significant difference between groups in healing rates (the per-protocol set) at week 8 and week 4, symptom responses, quality of life assessments and safety profiles. In addition, serum gastrin levels increased during treatment in both groups, with a significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.047), but both decreased after treatment. DISCUSSION: An 8-week therapy of zastaprazan 20 mg is non-inferior to esomeprazole 40 mg in subjects with predominantly low-grade EE. The healing rate at week 4 appears to be higher for zastaprazan than esomeprazole.

Vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) can help assess otolithic neural pathway in the brainstem that may also participate in cardiovascular autonomic function. Parkinson's disease (PD) is associated with altered VEMP responses; however, the association between VEMP abnormalities and multiple system atrophy (MSA) remains unknown. Therefore, we compared the extent of otolith dysfunction using ocular (oVEMP) and cervical VEMP (cVEMP) between MSA and PD. We analyzed the clinical features and VEMP and head-up tilt table test (HUT) findings using the Finometer in 24 patients with MSA and 52 with de-novo PD, who had undergone neurotologic evaluation in a referral-based university hospital in South Korea from January 2021 to March 2023. MSA was associated with bilateral oVEMP abnormality (odds ratio [95% confidence interval] = 9.19 [1.77-47.76], p=0.008). n1-p1 amplitude was negatively correlated with Unified Multiple System Atrophy Rating Scale I-II scores in patients with MSA (r=-0.571, p=0.033), whereas it did not correlate with Movement Disorder Society-Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale-III scores in patients with PD (r=-0.051, p=0.687). n1 latency was negatively correlated with maximum changes in systolic blood pressure within 15 s during HUT in patients with PD (r=-0.335, p=0.040) but not in those with MSA (r=0.277, p=0.299). In conclusion, bilaterally abnormal oVEMP responses may indicate the extent of brainstem dysfunction in MSA. oVEMP reflects the integrity of otolith-autonomic interplay, reliably assists in differentiating between MSA and PD, and helps infer clinical decline.

PURPOSE: Margin-negative surgery is very important in surgical oncology. Considering margin-negative pancreatectomy is known to be essential for cure of the pancreatic cancer, pancreatoduodenectomy with combined venous vascular or arterial resection can be a potential option for margin-negative resection, especially, in era of neoadjuvant treatment with potent systemic chemotherapy. To the contrary, special attention was not paid on combined colonic resection during PD. In this article, safe surgical technique for PD with combined colonic resection is introduced, under the name of PD with "colon-last" approach. METHODS: At Severance Hospital (Yonsei University College of Medicine, Seoul, Republic of Korea), between 2014 and 2021, a total of six patients underwent PD with "colon-last" approach. The surgical technique and surgical outcome are reviewed. RESULTS: All patients recovered without major complications (Clavien-Dindo classification grade ≥ III) after surgery, and most of them recovered after conservative treatment with postoperative pancreatic fistula biochemical leak. None of the patients were readmitted. Only the first and second cases represent cancer-related mortality, and the other patients are still alive and are being followed up. CONCLUSION: It is hoped that the present technique, PD with colon-last approach, could be helpful enhance the procedural safety in treating advanced cancer requiring PD with combined colon resection. However, its technical safety and oncologic role should be validated by many pancreatic surgeons' collaborative studies in the near future.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a progressive, chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high oxidative stress, which can lead to cardiac damage. Methionine sulfoxylation (MetO) of proteins by excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) can impair the basic functionality of essential cellular proteins, contributing to heart failure. Methionine sulfoxide reductase B2 (MsrB2) can reverse oxidation induced MetO in mitochondrial proteins, so we investigated its role in diabetic cardiomyopathy. We observed that DM-induced heart damage in diabetic mice model is characterized by increased ROS, increased protein MetO with mitochondria structural pathology, and cardiac fibrosis. In addition, MsrB2 was significantly increased in mouse DM cardiomyocytes, supporting the induction of a protective process. Further, MsrB2 directly induces Parkin and LC3 activation (mitophagy markers) in cardiomyocytes. In MsrB2, knockout mice displayed abnormal electrophysiological function, as determined by ECG analysis. Histological analysis confirmed increased cardiac fibrosis and disrupted cardiac tissue in MsrB2 knockout DM mice. We then corroborated our findings in human DM heart samples. Our study demonstrates that increased MsrB2 expression in the heart protects against diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are toxic pollutants generated by artificial activities. Moreover, their hormone-like structure induces disturbances, such as mimicking or blocking metabolic activity. Previous studies on EDCs have focused on the adverse effect of the endocrine system in vertebrates, with limited investigations conducted on ion channels in invertebrates. Thus, in this study, we investigated the potential adverse effects of exposure to bisphenol-A (BPA) and di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) at the molecular level on the ryanodine receptor (RyR), a calcium ion channel receptor in Macrophthalmus japonicus. In the phylogenetic analysis, the RyR amino acid sequences in M. japonicus clustered with those in the Crustacean and formed separated branches for RyR in insects and mammals. When exposed to 1 µg L-1 BPA, a significant increase in RyR mRNA expression was observed in the gills on day 1, although a similar level to the control group was observed from day 4 to day 7. However, the RyR expression due to DEHP exposure decreased on days 1 and 4, although it increased on day 7 following exposure to 10 µg L-1. The RyR expression pattern in the hepatopancreas increased for up to 4 days, depending on the BPA concentration. However, there was a tendency for the expression to decrease gradually after the statistical significance increased during the early stage of DEHP exposure (D1). Hence, the transcriptional alterations in the M. japonicus RyR gene observed in the study suggest that exposure toxicities to EDCs, such as BPA and DEHP, have the potential to disrupt calcium ion channel signaling in the gills and hepatopancreas of M. japonicus crabs.

OBJECTIVE: The effect of body composition change on the risk of dementia is not clear. This study analyzed the associations of changes in predicted lean body mass index (pLBMI), predicted appendicular skeletal muscle mass index (pASMI), and predicted body fat mass index (pBFMI) with the risk of dementia. METHODS: In this nationwide cohort study, data were obtained from the Korean National Health Insurance Service database. The exposure was defined as changes in pLBMI, pASMI, and pBFMI derived from validated prediction equations. The outcome was dementia, defined based on the dementia diagnosis with prescription of anti-dementia medication. Cox proportional hazards regression analyses were performed to obtain the hazard ratio with a 95% confidence interval for risk of dementia according to changes in predicted body composition. RESULTS: A total of 13,215,208 individuals with no prior record of dementia who underwent health screenings twice between 2009-2010 and 2011-2012 were included. A 1-kg/m2 increase in pLBMI and pASMI had an association with reduced risk of dementia (aHR: 0.85, 95% CI 0.84-0.87; aHR: 0.70, 95% CI 0.69-0.72, respectively for men, and aHR: 0.69, 95% CI 0.67-0.71; aHR: 0.59, 95% CI 0.57-0.61, respectively for women). A 1-kg/m2 increase in pBFMI had an association with a raised risk of dementia (aHR: 1.19, 95% CI 1.17-1.21 for men and aHR: 1.53, 95% CI 1.48-1.57 for women). These results remained consistent regardless of sex or weight change. INTERPRETATION: Increase in pLBMI or pASMI, or reduction in pBFMI was linked to lower risk of dementia.

RESUMO

This study comprehensively investigates the phase evolution of silver-carbon composite (Ag/C) layers in anode-less batteries with both liquid and solid electrolytes. The results of in situ X-ray diffraction and cross-sectional electron microscopy analyses reveal that the alloying reaction of Ag and Li is more homogeneous in solid-electrolyte-based cells compared to liquid-electrolyte-based cells. This homogeneity is attributed to diffusional Coble creep across the heterogeneous interfaces of Ag/C layers and solid electrolytes.
