[Application of sorbilact for treatment of postoperative paralytic ileus in cancer of the esophagus and stomach]. / Primenenie preparata sorbilakt dlia lecheniia posleoperatsionnoi paraliticheskoi neprokhodimosti kishechnika pri rake pishchevoda i zheludka, raspostraniaiushchemsia na pishchevod.

For prophylaxis and treatment of ileus in 12 patients after performance of radical operation for esophageal and gastroesophageal carcinoma, since the end of the first day during subsequent 4 days postoperatively sorbilact was infused intravenously twice a day. Terms of the intestinal peristalsis restoration, passage of flatus, spontaneous defecation restoration were shorter, than after application of generally accreted treatment.

[The application of combined antibacterial preparation Unazin for the prophylaxis of purulent postop complications at the clinic of thoracic oncology]. / Primenenie kombinirovannogo antibakterial'nogo preparata unazin dlia profilaktiki gnoinykh posleoperatsionnykh oslozhnenii v onkotorakal'noi klinike.

Antimicrobal preparation Unazin, combining sodium sulbactam and sodium ampicillin, characterized by broad antibacterial spectrum and potency to overcome the microorganisms stability, was applied in 15 patients in the early postoperative period after operations for pulmonary, esophageal, cardial cancers and mediastinal tumor. In these patients purulent-septic complications were not noted. According to the retrospective analysis data, of 846 patients, operated earlier, the complications have occurred in 131 (13.2%).

[Use of bilateral transthoracic approach in surgery of tumors of the thoracic esophagus]. / Primenenie bilateral'nogo transtorakal'nogo dostupa pri vypolnenii operatsii po povodu opukholi grudnoi chasti pishchevoda.

Bilateral transthoracic access for the thoracic esophagus excision was proposed. The right-sided, then--the left-sided thoracotomy were done step by step, permitting to mobilize the tumor's right and the left half-circumferences from surrounding vitally-important organs securely and under vision control.

[The use of copper sulfate in the treatment of esophageal cancer]. / Primenenie sul'fata medi v lechenii raka pishchevoda.

The authors have developed and approbated a methodology involving the use of copper sulphate as a radio sensitizer. The methods permit the enhancement of the immediate efficiency of treatment up to the level comparative with the best results of radiosensibilization at the expense of cytostatic agents. The incidence of complete regression of the tumor came up to 43.3%, partial one to 53.3%, stabilization to 3.3%. The advantages of the use of copper sulphate include low toxicity, practical availability, and exceptional cheapness, which facts suggest superiority of the proposed methods to other methodologies.

[An individualized approach to the treatment of recurrences of cancer of the stomach]. / Individualizirovannyi podkhod k lecheniiu retsidov raka zheludka.

The observations on 54 patients with a gastric cancer recurrence and 121 patients with the gastric cancer recurrence passing to the esophagus are presented. The time of the onset, clinical manifestations, histologic structure, location of recurrences were analysed. The results of surgical, combined and conservative (with the use of local SHF-hyperthermia and artificial hyperglycemia) treatment are presented. The effectiveness of the therapy performed is shown.
