RESUMO

It has been found that neuroblastoma cells retract their neurites under the influence of ether in dose 1 ml in 15 ml of the cultural medium. Application of ether for two hours increases the ratio of the number of cells to the number of neurites from 9.94 +/- 2.12 in the initial state to 19.66 +/- 1.93 (P less than 0.002). An essential alteration of the cell shape and a decrease of their volume are observed as well. The reaction is typical of cells at different stages of morphological differentiation. The data obtained can be helpful for investigation of pharmacological preparations which prevent destruction of neurons under narcosis.

RESUMO

The mechanism of intoxication, produced with strophanthin (10 mg/kg) has been studied in myocardium of white rats. Area, perimeter and factor of form in mitochondria, ratio of the mitochondrial surface area with injured external membranes to the whole mitochondrial area, agranular sarcoplasmic network and T-system area, changes in myofilaments, Z-lines, length of sarcomeres have been estimated. Changes in succinate dehydrogenase, lactate dehydrogenase and in reduced forms of nicotinamide coenzymes activity has been investigated histochemically. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) prevents appearance of ultrastructural and histochemical disturbances, produced with strophanthin. However, the protective effect of ATP is not sufficient. Adenosine monophosphate, penetrating across the cell membrane, is supposed to produce a greater curative effect.

RESUMO

Recently a glycoprotein capable to induce tetrodotoxin-sensitive sodium permeability being incorporated to liposomes was purified from the cytoplasm of the bovine brain. It is shown that a monoclonal antibody derived against this protein binds intact murine neuroblastoma cells. Veratrine, neurotoxin referred to modulate the activity of voltage-gated sodium channels, is shown to compete with the antibody for the neuroblastoma surface epitope. It is postulated that molecular moiety bound with the antibody is either identical or spatially related to veratrine (veratridine) binding site.

RESUMO

In acute experiments with cats the dynamics of changes in the evoked activity of spinal neurons was determined during low-intensity laser irradiation of the cord. With histological preparations, in conditions of automatic processing of the morphometrical information, the data were obtained indicating the decrease in the post-impulse synaptic depression accompanied by the intensification of the nuclear plasmic exchange of the exposed neurons.

RESUMO

Structural parameters of neurons of normal and low-intensity Ge-Ne laser irradiated cat spinal cords were investigated by the morphometrical technique. Observed statistical alterations of the soma volume and nuclear surface values as well as cellular nuclear space relations were associated with the evoked changes in the cell metabolism.

RESUMO

The automatized morphometric technique was used to estimate the degree of injury to spinal nervous cells of rats exposed to 360 Gy radiation. It was shown that the compression coefficient and the volume of neuron nuclei considerably diminished as the CNS-syndrome developed, and the geometrical dimensions of the nervous cells themselves underwent phase changes.

RESUMO

A comparative study of interneuronal dimensions in segments C1, C4, C7 was performed for the cat cervical spinal cord. It is shown that in three groups of interneurons the mean values of the two somatic axes, the correlation coefficients of these values and the mean volumes of the cell somata are the greatest in the C7 segment and the smallest in the C6 segment.
