RESUMO

Potassium (rubidium) influx, sodium and potassium contents, as well as size distribution, DNA and protein contents and synthesis have been examined in PHA-activated human lymphocytes within 0.5-72 h. A complex set of ionic events was found to include at least two stages of the increase in potassium and sodium contents per g cell protein and in ouabain-sensitive potassium influx which are preceded by a decrease in potassium content by almost 17% within the first 2-5 h. The kinetics of potassium and sodium changes has own pattern for each of cations, thus indicating definite changes in the ouabain-resistant transport of potassium and sodium during the G0----G1----S progression. The late increase in potassium content per g cell protein was found to correlate with the growth in cell size. This finding confirms the rule which was stated earlier for other animal cells, i. e. cells that prepare to proliferate are to raise their potassium per g cell protein up to the level of 0.8-1.0 mmole (Vereninov. Marakhova, 1986).

RESUMO

Acute experiments on rats were performed to study the influence of water-soluble chemical carcinogens on synaptic transmission via the inferior mesenteric sympathetic ganglion. Synaptic transmission was studied before and after intravenous injection of the enterotropic carcinogen 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH) and N-nitrosomethylurea (NMU) which induces the development of mammary gland tumors. Despite the different chemical structure and specificity of the action of the carcinogens used on one or another target tissue, their influence on synaptic transmission via the sympathetic ganglia was of identical character, manifested by the blocking action on transmission of nerve impulses. Comparison of the action of DMH and NMU on synaptic transmission with the influence of some other pharmacological substances suggests that the mechanism of the inhibitory action of the carcinogens on synaptic transmission via the sympathetic ganglia may be linked both with cholinolytic and adrenomimetic influences of the carcinogens.

RESUMO

The effect of 4-dimethylaminoazobenzole, 4-diethylaminoazobenzole, 1,2-dimethylhydrazine and N-nitrosomethylurea on the synaptic transmission of impulses through the inferior mesenteric sympathetic ganglion is investigated in acute experiments with rats. It is found that irrespective of chemical structure of carcinogens and different specificity of their action on the various tissues-targets all these carcinogens inhibit the cholinergic ganglionic transmission. The inhibitory action of carcinogens may be connected with the excitement of presynaptic alpha-adrenoreceptors in sympathetic ganglia. Pyrroxane, an alpha-adrenoblocker, protects the synaptic transmission from the action of carcinogens.

RESUMO

Acute experiments on rats were made to investigate the synaptic transmission of impulses through the inferior mesenteric sympathetic ganglion in health and in different periods after a single injection of the hepatocarcinogen, 4-dimethyl-aminoazobenzene (DAB). It was found that on the second after carcinogen injection there occurs a considerable disturbance of impulse transmission through the sympathetic ganglia. This manifested in the increased latent period of the appearance of action potentials in the intestinal and hypogastric nerves, in the prolonged process of potential conduction, and in the decreased amplitude and frequency of impulse transmission through the ganglion when stimulating the preganglionic nerve. Injection of the carcinogen leads to functional sympathectomy of organs and tissues, thereby creating the conditions for penetration of its metabolites to the cells followed by their malignancy.

RESUMO

Effects of electrostimulation of the posterior hypothalamus on the neocortical activity of non-anesthetized freely-moving rabbits in the postnatal ontogenesis was studied by means of electroencephalografic method. In rabbits of the first postnatal week the electrostimulation evoked in the neocortex mainly an activation reaction of synchronized character. From the second week of the postnatal age the electrostimulation caused in the EEG of the neocortex a desynchronization reaction. The data obtained show that the posterior hypothalamus may take part in the regulation of the state of sleep and wakefulness in rabbits from the first week of the postnatal age.

RESUMO

The levels of catecholamines (adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine) in gastrointestinal tumors and normal tissue adjacent to malignant tumor were studied. Noradrenaline level in tumor was considerably lower than that in normal tissue. Neither adrenaline nor dopamine level showed any changes. It was established that tumor development occurs against the background of functional desympathization and adverse changes in the ratio of mediator and hormonal links in tissue sympatho-adrenal system.

RESUMO

Studies have been made on the content of adrenalin and noradrenalin in the nervous fibers and ganglia of the sympathetic nervous system of cats and rabbits during a postnatal life. In all the structures investigated, high catecholamine content was found within the first month of life on the animals. On further development, total catecholamine content decreases. Age changes in catecholamine content of preganglionic sympathetic fibers and different sympathetic ganglia indicate an effective adrenergic regulation in early postnatal ontogenesis of cats and rabbits.
