[A structural-functional assessment of serum albumin in cancerous diseases]. / Strukturno-funktsional'naia otsenka syvorotochnogo al'bumina pri onkologicheskikh zabolevaniiakh.

HSA structure was studied in healthy subjects and cancer patients using infrared spectroscopy. No significant differences were observed although the intensity of valent C-H fluctuation lines in alkyl groups of HSA was slightly increased in cancer patients. Gas-liquid chromatography established changes in the profile of polyunsaturated fatty acids binding to HSA in cancer patients. The data obtained suggest inhibition of omega-6 pathway of fatty acid metabolism and activation of omega-3 pathway. Marked binding of POL products to serum albumin was found nonspecific and was considered evidence of protective function of that protein.

[Serum albumin fucose in cancer patients]. / Soderhzhanie fukozy al'bumina krovi u onkologicheskikh bol'nykh.

The level of blood albumin fucose in healthy subjects and cases of non-tumor pathology and benign tumors of the uterus and ovaries was found to be I nmol of fucose/10 nmol of human serum albumin or lower, whereas in patients with malignant tumors of different localizations it was 4-7 times as high. The highest levels were recorded in patients with primary hepatic cancer and hepatic metastases. The test may be used in differential diagnosis of tumor lesions of different localization as well as for assessment of tumor progression.

[Prevention of asphyxia in tracheomalacia after operations of the thyroid gland]. / Preduprezhdenie asfiktsii pri trakheomaliatsii u bol'nykh posle operatsii na shchitovidnoi zheleze.

A new technique for prevention of asphyxia in tracheomalacia has been developed. The technique consists in suturing the softened portion of the trachea to the dura mater graft which had been previously fixed to its healthy portions. Such a technique allows performing reliable fixation of the tracheomalacia portion in an extended state and thereby to prevent asphyxia, The technique was used in 11 operated patients and gave good results.

[Change in the optical rotatory dispersion characteristics of serum albumin of patients with appendicitis and cholecystitis]. / Izmeneniia kharakteristik dispersii opticheskogo vrascheniia syvorotochnogo al'bumina bol'nykh ostrym appenditsitom i kholetsistitom

The authors studied the optic rotation dispersion of serum albumin in patients suffering from cholecystitis and acute appendicitis. Conforming changes in these forms of pathology characterized by despiralization processes were established. A method of purification of albumin from its modified forms, possibly causing the mentioned changes in the albumin structure is suggested.
