RESUMO

Due to traumatic injuries, including those from surgical procedures, adhesions occur in over 50% of cases, necessitating exclusive surgical intervention for treatment. However, preventive measures can be implemented during abdominal organ surgeries. These measures involve creating a barrier around internal organs to forestall adhesion formation in the postoperative phase. Yet, the effectiveness of the artificial barrier relies on considerations of its biocompatibility and the avoidance of adverse effects on the body. This study explores the biocompatibility aspects, encompassing hemocompatibility, cytotoxicity, and antibacterial and antioxidant activities, as well as the adhesion of blood serum proteins and macrophages to the surface of new composite film materials. The materials, derived from the sodium salt of carboxymethylcellulose modified by glycoluril and allantoin, were investigated. The research reveals that film materials with a heterocyclic fragment exhibit biocompatibility comparable to commercially used samples in surgery. Notably, film samples developed with glycoluril outperform the effects of commercial samples in certain aspects.

RESUMO

This work presents the synthesis of a new compound, 1-[aryl-(diphenylphosphono)methyl]-3,4,6-trimethylglycolurils, via the interaction of benzaldehyde and its mononitro- and monohydroxyderivatives with 1,3,4-trimethylglycoluril and triphenylphosphite. By varying the reaction conditions and the catalysts, the obtained product yields ranged from satisfactory to good. The diastereomers formed during the reaction were separated by semipreparative HPLC on the C18 stationary phase. The isolated diastereomers were characterized by 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR, and the structures of the diastereomers were confirmed using a single-crystal X-ray crystal structure analysis and quantum chemical calculations.

The manuscript describes the phase composition, microstructure, some physical and mechanical properties of the Ti-Al system with addition of 2 at. % Dy (TAD) and Ho (TAH) obtained by "hydride technology". Phase diagrams for Ti-Al-Dy and Ti-Al-Ho at a temperature of 1150 °C and basic properties for ternary phases Dy6Ti4Al43 and Ho6Ti4Al43 were calculated. A crystallographic database of stable and quasistable structures of the known elemental composition was created in the USPEX-SIESTA software by means of an evolutionary code. The calculations show that adding REM leads to a significant stabilizing effect in each Ti-Al-Me (Me = Dy, Ho) system without exception. It has been established that the lattice energies of AlTi3Ho and AlTi3Dy are, respectively, equal to: EAl4Ti12Dy3 = -32,877.825 eV and EAl4Ti12Dy3 = -31,227.561 eV. In the synthesized Ti49Al49Ho2 compound, the main phases include Al-Ti, Al3Ti3 and Al4Ti12Ho3 and the contributions to the theoretical intensity are equal to 44.83, 44.43 and 5.55%, respectively. Ti49Al49Dy2 is dominated by the Al-Ti, Al3Ti3 and Al4Ti12Dy phases, whose contributions are equal to 65.04, 16.88 and 11.2%, respectively. The microhardness of TAD and TAN specimens is 1.61 ± 0.08 and 1.47 ± 0.07 GPa, respectively.

The Nicotiana tabacum AINTEGUMENTA-like gene (NtANTL), encoding one of AP2/ERF transcription factors, is a putative ortholog of the AtANT gene from Arabidopsis thaliana. In wild-type tobacco plants, the NtANTL gene was expressed in the actively dividing young flowers, shoot apices, and calluses, while the level of its mRNA increased considerably after treatment with exogenous 6-benzylaminopurine, indoleacetic acid and 24-epibrassinolide. We found a positive correlation among the expression levels of NtANTL, cyclin NtCYCD3;1 and cyclin-dependent kinase NtCDKB1-1 genes, suggesting possible molecular links between AINTEGUMENTA and cell cycle regulators in tobacco plants. However, no correlation was observed between NtANTL, NtCYCD3;1 and NtCDKB1-1 expression levels in response to NaCl and ABA. These observations indicate that the transcription factor NtANTL was not involved in the regulation of the cellular response to salinity nor did it affect the expression of NtCYCD3;1 and NtCDKB1-1 when tobacco plants were exposed to salt stress and ABA. In addition, we generated transgenic tobacco plants with both up-regulated and down-regulated expression of the NtANTL gene. Constitutive expression of the NtANTL gene contributed to an increase in the size of leaves and corolla of transgenic plants. Transgenic plants with reduced expression of the NtANTL gene had smaller leaves, flowers and stems, but showed a compensatory increase in the cell size of leaves and flowers. The results show the significance of the NtANTL gene for the control of organ growth by both cell division and expansion in tobacco plants.
