RESUMO

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment with sinusoidal modulated currents on lipid metabolism in the patients presenting with chronic cholecystitis in the state of remission. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The study included 25 patients with chronic non-calculosis cholecystitis in phase of remission and 20 healthy subjects (controls). We studied the serum lipid spectrum as well as the fatty acid composition of plasma and blood erythrocytes before and after therapy with sinusoidal modulated currents applied to the right-sided hypochondrium region. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The treatment of the patients with chronic cholecystitis in remission with the use of sinusoidal modulated currents produced moderate lipid-modulatory and membranotropic effects mediated through the activation of the processes of lipid metabolism that may result in the depletion of the pool of essential polyunsaturated fatty acids. CONCLUSION: The results of this study give evidence that it is advisable to treat the patients presenting with chronic cholecystitis by sinusoidal modulated currents in the combination with the oral intake of exogenous polyunsaturated fatty acids.

RESUMO

We undertook a structural and functional study of blood cell mitochondria in 25 patients with controlled mild bronchial asthma (BA) including evaluation of blood saturation with oxygen, carboxyhemoglobin level in blood and carbon monoxide content in the exhaled air. Membrane potential of leukocyte mitochondria was determined based on the results of flow cytofluorimetry and fatty acid (FA) composition in platelet mitochondrial membranes measured by GLC. It was shown that the absence of clinical symptoms of BA during remission was associated with a reduction of membrane potential and a change of FA composition resulting in the depletion of the basal pool of saturated (12:0, 14:0, 18:0) and polyunsaturated (20:4n-6, 20:5n-3, 22:5n-3, 22:4n-6) FA. These changes in the structural and functional state of blood cell mitochondria in patients with BA are signs of disordered energy-producing activity, membrane permeability and transmembrane transport suggesting the development of mitochondrial dysfunction and cellular hypoxia. A deeper insight into the role of the structural and functional state of blood cell mitochondria in the formation of respiratory disorders will facilitate early detection of the risk and complications of bronchial obstruction.

RESUMO

The results of application of hitamine, enterosorbent of marine origin, by the patients with chronic noncalculous cholecystitis in the remission phase are cited. It has been established that dietotheraphy in complex with hitamine renders the antiinflammatory and lipidcorrected action, favours the increase of remission terms.

RESUMO

Hydrocarbonate mineral water balneotherapy in chronic gastritis should be conducted individually, i.e. allowing for the state of the system lipid peroxidation-antioxidant defense and disturbances of lipid metabolism. In impairment of peroxide homeostasis balneocomplex must include antioxidants, in parallel changes of blood lipid spectrum sorption medication must be used.

RESUMO

An experimental model of gastroduodenitis combined with hyperlipidemia was used to study the effects of the product Zolotoi rog (Golden Horn) which is a composition of biologically active substances of marine organisms and honey. It was found that a course administration of Zolotoi rog in a dose 2.5 mg/kg b.w. improves histomorphology of gastric mucosa, acts hypolipidemically, raises reserves of the antioxidant system of the body and suppresses intensity of lipid peroxidation.

RESUMO

We made experiments to study effects of effervescent hydrocarbonate mangesium-calcium-sodium boronic mineral water on lipid peroxidation and factors of antioxidant defense in gastric tissue in gastroduodenitis. A course treatment with mineral water improves histomorphology of the gastric mucosa, stabilizes enzymes of the antioxidant defense system and down-regulates intensity of lipid peroxidation.

RESUMO

We elaborated a model of gastroduodenitis combined with hyperlipidemia in rats. This model is based on alimentary lipid disturbances and morphological changes in the gastroduodenal mucosa caused by exogenous damaging factors. Morphological assay revealed gastroduodenitis; biochemical studies of the blood and liver demonstrated hyperlipidemia. This model holds much promise for evaluating pathogenetic mechanisms of combined gastroduodenal and heart diseases.

RESUMO

Balneological and experimental examinations were made of physiological properties of carbonate iron mineral waters of the Primorskiy Territory. The waters were found perspective as a source of ecologically healthy water, to prevent diseases, to raise nonspecific resistance of the body.

RESUMO

At an experimental model of alimentary hyperlipoproteinemia the medical effect of specialized product "Zolotoi Rog", a composition of biologically active substances, antioxidants and honey, isolated from marine organisms, was analysed. The hypolipidemic effect of this product was defined at violations of lipid metabolism of blood and liver of animals. Deterioration of the processes of lipids peroxidation and raising activity of antioxidant system of an organism, were revealed.
