RESUMO

A functional defect of lymphocytes in hamsters with tumours during carcinogenesis induced by monkey adenovirus SA7(C8) was found and estimated by means of the blast transformation reaction. An increased activity of transport ATPases, the disturbance of cyclic nucleotide levels (cAMP, cGMP) and a decrease in both basal and Con A-activated calcium transportation were observed simultaneously with changes in the activation of immunocompetent cells under Con A influence.

RESUMO

The tumour-associated antigen was identified with the aid of antisera obtained from rabbits immunized with 3 M KCl extract of pool human cervical carcinoma cells. The antigen was found in 92.5% specimens of human cervical squamous cell carcinoma, in 4.7% specimens of other localization of the tumours. The antigen was absent from sets of normal human tissues. The tumour-associated antigen was not identical with CEA, alpha-fetoprotein, SP1, EPA and lactoferrin and it was localized in cytoplasm of cervical carcinoma cells.

RESUMO

Infecting of synchronized cells-BNK-21 by herpes simplex virus type 2 in the S period resulted in a secondary rise of the labeled cells index and shortened time of the cell cycle as a whole. While infecting of the cells during the S period some morphological transformation was observed. The infecting of the cells in the periods M, G1, G2 revealed no essential changes in cell DNA synthesis and failed to result in any cell transformation.

RESUMO

In the HEF system in logarythmic and stationary phases of the culture growth the type-2 herpes simplex virus serves as a stimulator of proliferative processes in the cell (there is an increase of the labelled cells index, mitotic index and the intensity of labelling). The capacity of herpes virus not to suppress the cell DNA synthesis, as infestious viruses do, but to stimulate poliferative abilities of the cell indicates a presumable potential oncogenicity of this virus.

RESUMO

Oncogenic adenovirus of type 12 in the culture of rat embryo fibroblasts, in which it induces an abortive infection, and in HEp-2 culture, whereas it shows reproduction and causes lytic infection, in the early stationary phase causes shortening of the mitotic cycle and its separate periods. Reduction of the mitotic cycle duration occurs on account of shortening of the presynthetic stage and DNA synthesis stage. This property of the virus is in agreement with its capacity to stimulate proliferation of infected cells and is likely to be one of the necessary conditions for development of malignant transformation.
