RESUMO
Whether insect growth regulators, such as methoprene, telflubenzuron and flufenoxuron, can be used to suppress the populations of the house dust mites D. pteronyssinus and D. farinae has been studied in the laboratory setting. The most potent agent has been found to be methoprene used in concentrations of 0.05 = 0.1%, in particular. Flufenoxuron at a concentration of < 0.1% has been shown to stimulate the reproduction of house dust mites.

Alcystine, inhibitor of moult and chitinization, was studied for its biological activity in all phases of house fly development. Drug highest efficacy was recorded when preimaginal stages were introduced into the treated substrate and during the intestinal treatment of the imago. Ovicidal effect was observed in fresh egg mass. Alcystine could be regarded as a promising preparation when used for housefly attractants and in the treatment of housefly breeding places.

Paper presents the results of the study of biological effect of precozen I--preparation with antijuvenile type of action on flies and mosquitoes. Parenteral administration resulted in reduced rate of imago hatching, alterations in female reproductive system, hereditary sterility. Treatment of flies' as well as mosquitoes' larvae caused various moult alterations: prologation of development stages, reduced chitinization. Multiple effects of precozen I on insects, characteristic both of hormonal preparations and chemosterilants, were observed.

The effect of alcistine on pre-imago stages of mosquito development is studied. High ovicidal and larvicidal effect as well as the types of alterations during the moult are determined. The author established the periods of effective and residual action of the chemical. In situ tests proved the feasibility of using alcistine against mosquitos' larva in natural water basins.
