[The analysis of cadmium and lead levels in the umbilical blood and first urine in newborn infants]. / Badanie stezenia kadmu i olowiu we krwi pepowinowej i w pierwszym moczu noworodków.

Umbilical blood Cd and Pb concentration determined by AAS (PE Zeeman 3030) equaled 0.15 micrograms/dl and 4.09 micrograms/dl, respectively. The Cd level in the first urine equaled 0.02 micrograms/dl, that of Pb, 0.78 micrograms/dl.

Motilin in umbilical blood.

The level of motilin in umbilical plasma was studied in a group of 25 newborns--16 prematurely born and 9 term-born. No statistically significant changes were noted in either studied groups. The results indicate intensive maturation processes of the gastrointestinal tract of the fetus, which prepare for enteral feeding in case of premature birth.
