RESUMO

The structural organization and functioning of parasitic systems are considered in the context of the general theory of systems. By using the parasitic system of an epizootic process of plague as an example, the essence of the concepts of the structural organization and functioning of the systems is determined, and a scheme of a relationship of elements in the trinomial parasitic systems is presented. The mechanism of parasite-host interaction at the molecular, cellular, body's, and populational levels is considered on the basis of the theory of immune-specific wave information in an living organism.

RESUMO

The paper deals with the plague epidemiological surveillance in natural foci and with the ways of its improvement. The diversity of methods currently used for surveillance ensures a satisfactory epidemic situation though the problem of plague control among rodents and hares in the natural foci remained unsettled. Therefore the main task of research and practical plague institutions in improving plague epidemiological surveillance in the natural foci is to provide further research evidence for the application of facilities and guidelines to control the carriers and vectors of plague, which can prevent the development of epizootics and reduce a risk for human infection in the enzootic areas.

RESUMO

The paper provides the results of examining the insecticidal activity of the commercial agents oradelt and omait against rodent fleas. The two agents have been ascertained to have a high toxicity for fleas of various species and genera. The field trials have shown that oradelt has a dusticidal effect in the habitats of mountain suslik. The oradelt dust containing 0.05% of the active ingredient should be recommended for controlling fleas in the foci of the suslik-type plague.

RESUMO

Two-month hyperphagia after injury inflicted to the ventromedial hypothalamus in rats led to the development of marked obesity in an essential increase of the content of immunoreactive insulin, glucagon, and C-peptide in the blood. Increase of excessive body weight was attended by gradual diminution of the organisms sensitivity to exogenous insulin given in a dose of 0.03 U/100 g and maintenance of normal sensitivity to 0.1 U/100 g of exogenous insulin. It is most likely, therefore, that despite the increased function of the pancreatic islets and hyperinsulinemia, glucose tolerance decreased significantly due to diminished sensitivity of the peripheral tissues to insulin.

RESUMO

The present paper concerns 4 groups of haemolymph cells of fleas (proleukocytes, leukocytes, trophic cells and oenocytoids), results of observations on their phagocytic activity during parenteral infection of insects with bacteria, bacilli, and cells' response to the infection with Microsporidia.

RESUMO

The present article substantiates the necessity of defining more accurately the notion "epidemic process" and using this term only in reference to anthroponotic diseases. Proceeding from the philosophical concept of the qualitative definiteness of material objects and phenomena, the author proposes to distinguish the epidemic process in anthroponoses from mass spread of zoonotic diseases among humans on the basis of using the systemic qualities of the epidemic process, and in particular the principle of the dual character of the qualitative definiteness of objects and phenomena as the distinctive feature of the epidemic process of anthroponoses. Distinction, based on this principle, between anthroponotic diseases and zoonotic diseases in groups of humans must be reflected in the definitions of these phenomena. The application of the term "epidemic process" only in reference to anthroponotic diseases is proposed, while zoonotic diseases in groups of humans should be considered as epidemic manifestations of zoonotic infections.

RESUMO

The paper presents results of experimental studies of the effect of Allantonematidae on the reproduction of fleas. It has been established that the pairing of non-infected females with males infected with nematodes reduces the fecundity rate while the pairing of non-infected males with females infected with nematodes causes a complete stopping of reproduction of laboratory population. The conclusion was drawn on the role of allantonematides in the regulation of abundance of fleas of rodents in nature.

RESUMO

The signs of obesity and diabetes in 49 adult and 56 aged female Wistar rats were studied following complete and histologically confirms bilateral lesions of ventromedial hypothalamic nuclei. Persistent diabetes was found in 14 out of a total of 56 aged animals, while in a group of 49 adult females only one animal showed definite signs of this disease. In addition, several changes of lipid and glucose metabolism together with increased level of immunoreactive insulin and severe changes in the histological picture of pancreatic islets and beta-cells were observed.

RESUMO

In experiments on albino rats it was found that the partial alloxan elimination of the pancreatic incretory elements followed by the normal diet and long-term adaptation of a healthy organism to excessive readily assimilating food carbohydrates are accompanied by a series of morphofunctional shifts, indicating the development of early diabetes mellitus stages, which are characterized by a recurrent increase in the glycemia level over 100 mg/100 ml, in the presence of sugar curves, changed according to a questionable type, hyperinsulinism and hyperlipemia arising. Some pancreatic islets are hypertrophied, whereas their beta-cell number decreases.
