RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: to study the clinical and laboratory features of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study involved 87 patients with complaints of difficulty in nasal breathing and 30 healthy volunteers with no pathology ENT and GERD. The diagnosis of CRS met the criteria EPOS 2012. Diagnosis of GERD was performed based on the recommendations of the Montreal consensus. All investigated conducted a survey for the presence of esophageal and extraesophageal manifestations of GERD, fibroesophagogastroduodenoscopy, LOR examination with the use of endoscopes, rhinoscopy, laryngoscopy, computed tomography of the paranasal sinuses, pH-metry mucous secretions of the nose and pharynx using visual test - strips, microbiological examination of discharge from the middle of the nose stroke. Association of CRS with GERD with GERD compared with impaired nasal breathing inflammatory and non-inflammatory genesis in the absence of GERD and healthy volunteers accompanied by a large variety and frequency of symptoms, endoscopic signs of laryngitis back, reducing the pH of the pharynx, the change in quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the microflora of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses.

RESUMO

A two-central randomised single-blind placebo-controlled study was conducted to assess efficacy of intravenous administration of trometamol salt of thioctic (alpha-lipoic) acid (Thioctacid 600, "ASTA Medica", Germany) in 200 ml of physiological solution in 40 non-insulin dependent diabetic patients with symptomatic diabetic neuropathy. 10 patients of the control group received a physiological solution stained with 1% solution of riboflavin mononucleate (B2 vitamin) as placebo. Intravenous infusion was administered once daily during a period of 3 weeks. Diabetic neuropathy score was assessed at the entry as well as on days 7, 14 and 21 of therapy. Indicators of lipid peroxidation (oxidative stress)--malonic dialdehyde levels in plasma and membranes of erythrocytes. Electroneuromyography were performed. Most of the patients (29) noted symptomatic improvement after 7-10 infusions and on day 14 a significant reduction of the diabetic neuropathy score was noted in comparison to a baseline (p < 0.05). The further improvement of clinical picture had been pronounced by day 21 (p < 0.001). Improvement of symptom score was obtained in 39 patients (97.5%). The response rate in the control group was 40%. Parameters of oxidative stress and electroneuromyography improved significantly in the main group of patients, while these in placebo group remained without changes.

RESUMO

GABA, glycine and beta-alanine depolarized motoneurons and primary afferents of the isolated spinal cord of rats of 10-14-day age. The blockade of synaptic transmission in the spinal cord by abundant Mg++ ions turns the depolarization into hyperpolarizing responses. Depolarization of the primary afferents evoked by glycine is antagonized by strychnine, picrotoxin reduces the GABA effects, and both convulsants diminish the beta-alanine effects. Neural amino acids reduce both ventral and dorsal root potentials. Strychnine and picrotoxin increase the amplitude and duration of ventral root potentials. Picrotoxin decreases the amplitude of dorsal root potentials.

RESUMO

Observations over the measles epidemic process in Leningrad showed that the sporadic morbidity level reached in 1974--4.1 per 100 000 residents; however periodic elevation and decline of morbidity and tis seasonal variations persisted. A rise of morbidity in 1972--1973, and by preliminary data--in 1975, occurred on account of the older age groups. There was revealed no dependence of the disease incidence among the persons vaccinated on the time lapse after their vaccination. Individual batches of live measles vaccine issued in 1963--1969 were not up to the standard, this serving as one of the cases of the occurence of group incidence of the infection in some foci.
