RESUMO

Studies covered of work conditions for main occupations in asbestos cement production of Ukraine. Studies covered work conditions and occupational features of workers engaged into main occupations in asbestos cement enterprises of Ukraine. Parameters presented characterize ambient air state, microclimate conditions, levels of noise and vibration, work intensity and hardness.

RESUMO

While studying a concurrent exposure to thermal loads and welding aerosols (WA) it has been ascertained that in inhalational exposure of the body to WA under conditions of simultaneous exposure of animals to a high temperature of the air environment the total pathogenic effect tends to be higher and higher. It is suggested that in a concomitant exposure to the above factors WA might lower bodily resistance to the thermal load. The above factors produce summation type harmful effects which have clearly a dose-dependent character. Studies on the occupational environment of workers engaged in welding involving heating suggested to us that it is those WA containing harmful substances of I and II hazard class that is the leading adverse factor of the working environment, and also thermal loads as high as 8000-9000 wt/m2. A concurrent exposure to the above factors lays a stress on the thermoregulatory function of the organism, and is resultant in the development of autoimmune processes and in premature aging of workers.

RESUMO

A study was made of relationship between biologic age of welders and their health status. The results obtained suggest that evolution of occupational abnormalities of bronchipulmonary system may accelerate the welders' rate of aging two-fold. Accumulation of iron in the organism of welders furthers the process of ageing as well. A high specific weight of patients with critically low level of the blood serum content of cholesterol (3.34 mmol/l) was found to be the case among welders with occupational abnormalities of bronchipulmonary system, which fact suggests a high risk for the pulmonary cancer development.

RESUMO

It was established that during cast-iron welding unfavourable factors of this production are welding aerosols, thermal and physical loads, radiation of the optical range. Results of detailed medical screening evidence that 80% of cast-iron welders showed pathology of the internal organs. Diseases of the bronchopulmonary apparatus occupy the leading place and are registered in every second cast-iron welder. The incidence rises with increased length of work and age.

RESUMO

It was established that in welding of cast-iron wares with their preliminary heating, the thermal factor occupies the leading place in overstrain of the physiological reactions of the worker's body. The workers showed an increase of the average values of most indices of the thermal state and cardio-vascular system. Hygienic measures directed to prevent conveying heat to the working zone of the welder are described.
