RESUMO
Results of carcinogenic testing of 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole (AT) in chronic experiments is presented. The testing did not reveal carcinogenic properties of this substance in rats but showed carcinogenicity in F1 mice. AT can be characterized as a substance with limited evidence of carcinogenicity.

Phillipsite dust was intrapleurally administered to random-bred rats by 20 mg in 0.5 ml of saline three times with an interval of a month. Higher incidence of hemoblastoses has been experimentally found in exposed animals compared to the control ones. One rat developed pleural mesothelioma, two rats lung adenocarcinoma. It was concluded that phillipsite has weak carcinogenic activity.

Carcinogenic activity of diaphene NN was studied in female mice of line CC57W. Weekly subcutaneous injections of 40 mg of diaphene induced tumors in 65% of mice (leucoses and local sarcomas). Instillations of 40 mg of diaphene per os (3-5 times per week) induced tumors in 39% of mice. In control mice tumors were found in 38% of cases, including 36% of leucoses. It is concluded that diaphene NN shows an insignificant carcinogenic activity.

The first group of non-bred rats was injected intrapleurally 20 mg of benzene extracted chrysotil-asbestos dust in saline; the second group of rats was injected 20 mg of the same dust but with benz(a)pyrene absorbed on it (0.4 mg). Pleural mesotheliomas were observed in 48.57% of cases in the first group and in 41.37% of cases in the second one. The difference was not significant. There was no difference in the percentage of premesotheliomatous lesions. But, in the second group tumors of other organs were found. The role of asbestos pollution by carcinogenic hydrocarbons in the genesis of lung cancer and pleural mesothelioma is discussed.
