RESUMO

Bacterial Leaf Blight (Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae) and blast (Magnaporthe oryzae) are the major biotic stresses around the rice-growing zones of the world. The development of resistant varieties through Marker Assisted Backcross Breeding is the utmost economical and eco-friendly method for achieving stable yield. Amongst the resistance genes recognized, Xa21 and Pi54 possess broad-spectrum resistance to many Xoo and blast strains around the world. In the present study, we have effectively introgressed a Bacterial Blight resistance gene (Xa21) and a blast resistance gene (Pi54) into susceptible variety ADT43 from RP-Bio-Patho-2 coupled with phenotypic selection for agronomic, cooking quality and grain traits through MABC. MABC was sustained till BC2F2 generation with specific markers pTA248 for Xa21 and Pi54MAS for Pi54 resistance genes. A set of SSR markers for parental polymorphism were utilized for maximum regaining of recurrent parent genome in each backcrossing. "Positive plants" from BC2F1 were selfed to generate BC2F2 and the homozygous lines for bacterial leaf blight and blast resistance genes were identified for further assessment.

Intracranial chondrosarcomas are rare malignant lesions. Both skull base and dural-based extraosseous chondrosarcomas have been reported to occur intracranially. Dural-based chondrosarcomas arising from the falx cerebri are rare lesions with only 19 cases reported till date. Although conventional, mesenchymal, and myxoid variants of chondrosarcomas have been reported intracranially, myxoid variant are the rarest with only 17 cases reported till date, among which only 2 were falcine. We are reporting the third case of falcine myxoid chondrosarcoma in a 32-year-old man who presented with seizures and subtle lower limb weakness. Radiological findings were suggestive of an atypical meningioma in the falcine region. Macroscopically total resection of the tumor was done. Histopathological examination confirmed myxoid chondrosarcoma, grade 1. Postoperative period was uneventful, and the patient remains asymptomatic 34 months after the surgery without the application of any adjuvant therapy. Falcine myxoid chondrosarcomas are extremely rare lesions with variable aggressiveness as suggested by the three cases reported till now including the present case.

KEY MESSAGE: Underpinned natural variations and key genes associated with yield under different water regimes, and identified genomic signatures of genetic gain in the Indian wheat breeding program. A novel KASP marker for TKW under water stress was developed and validated. A comprehensive genome-wide association study was conducted on 300 spring wheat genotypes to elucidate the natural variations associated with grain yield and its eleven contributing traits under fully irrigated, restricted water, and simulated no water conditions. Utilizing the 35K Wheat Breeders' Array, we identified 1155 quantitative trait nucleotides (QTNs), with 207 QTNs exhibiting stability across diverse conditions. These QTNs were further delimited into 539 genomic regions using a genome-wide LD value of 3.0 Mbp, revealing pleiotropic control across traits and conditions. Sub-genome A was significantly associated with traits under irrigated conditions, while sub-genome B showed more QTNs under water stressed conditions. Favourable alleles with significantly associated QTNs were delineated, with a notable pyramiding effect for enhancing trait performance. Additionally, allele of only 921 QTNs significantly affected the population mean. Allele profiling highlighted C-306 as a most potential source of drought tolerance. Moreover, 762 genes overlapping significant QTNs were identified, narrowing down to 27 putative candidate genes overlapping 29 novel and functional SNPs expressing (≥ 0.5 tpm) relevance across various growth conditions. A new KASP assay was developed, targeting a gene TraesCS2A03G1123700 regulating thousand kernel weight under severe drought condition. Genomic selection models (GBLUP, BayesB, MxE, and R-Norm) demonstrated an average prediction accuracy of 0.06-0.58 across environments, indicating potential for trait selection. Retrospective analysis of the Indian wheat breeding program supported a genetic gain in GY at the rate of ca. 0.56% per breeding cycle, since 1960, supporting the identification of genomic signatures driving trait selection and genetic gain. These findings offer insight into improving the rate of genetic gain in wheat breeding programs globally.

Periodontitis and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) are prevalent oral diseases with distinct etiologies, yet they share certain molecular and biological characteristics. Gene expression datasets from the gene expression omnibus (GEO) repository (GSE30784 for OSCC and GSE10334 for periodontitis) were analyzed. Data preprocessing and differential gene expression analysis using GEO2R identified common differentially expressed genes (DEGs), and FunRich software facilitated the construction of a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network on the STRING database. Cytoscape, coupled with the CytoHubba plugin, identified Cluster of Differentiation 19 (CD19) and Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) as the top hub genes, with Complement C3 (C3) also highly ranked. Functional enrichment analysis highlighted pathways such as the B-cell receptor signaling pathway, complement and coagulation cascades, and hematopoietic cell lineage. Additionally, miRNet analysis identified key miRNAs, including hsa-mir-26a-5p, hsa-mir-129-2-3p, and hsa-mir-27a-3p, associated with these pathways. These findings suggested an association of molecular mechanisms between periodontitis and OSCC, with identified hub genes and miRNAs potentially serving as therapeutic targets.

Background: Apical microleakage is considered to be a common reason for the clinical failure of endodontic therapy. Three dimensional sealing of the root canal is one of the main goals of endodontic treatment and is essential for preventing reinfection of the canal and for preserving the health of the periapical tissues, Recently Epoxy resin sealers have been used because of their reduced solubility apical seal and micro-retention to root dentine. Aim and Objective: This in vitro study was done to evaluate and compare the apical sealability of AH Plus and RealSeal SE using 5.25% sodium hypochlorite with 17% EDTA and 10% citric acid as irrigants. Materials and methods: 44 single-rooted premolars were selected and the teeth are randomly divided into 4 groups (n=10) and 2 control groups (n=2). The extent of dye penetration, from the apical to the coronal part of the root canal, was assessed using a stereomicroscope at 10x magnification for all groups.One-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests were performed to compare statistically significant differences among the groups, using SPSS software version 10.0. Results: Group IV (Citric acid + RealSeal SE) showed a statistically lower mean microleakage when compared to all other groups. Conclusion: From, the present study, it was concluded that, RealSeal SE sealer with 10% citric acid as irrigant (group IV) showed better apical sealability followed by RealSeal SE sealer with 17% EDTA as irrigant (group III), when compared to AH Plus groups which showed least sealability.

INTRODUCTION: Zinner Syndrome (ZS), a rare congenital malformation of the mesonephric duct, combines seminal vesicle cyst (SVC) with ipsilateral upper urinary tract abnormalities. Typically asymptomatic in childhood, ZS manifests between 2nd to 4th decades with bladder symptoms, perineal pain and infertility. Diagnostic confirmation with additional imaging is needed when either renal or seminal abnormalities are identified. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective study spanning 22 years identified 20 pediatric ZS cases through clinical analytics. Demographic, clinical, and radiological data were analyzed, including presenting complaints, imaging modalities (ultrasound, CT, MRI), and surgical findings. The study was HIPAA-compliant and IRB-approved. RESULTS: Among 20 cases (mean age: 7.3 years), clinical presentations included asymptomatic cases, urinary symptoms, and abdominal pain. Imaging revealed renal anomalies (agenesis, multicystic dysplastic kidney) and seminal vesicle abnormalities. Surgical interventions (n = 12) addressed symptomatic cases, often involving robotic or laparoscopic procedures. DISCUSSION: ZS, though rare, presents with varied clinical features, necessitating a multidisciplinary approach. Early diagnosis is facilitated by prenatal identification of renal abnormalities. Surgical intervention is reserved for symptomatic cases, with techniques such as vesiculectomy and resection of remnant structures employed. CONCLUSION: This study highlights ZS's diverse clinical and radiological spectrum, emphasizing the need for vigilance in detecting overlapping entities. Timely identification, utilizing advanced imaging techniques, is crucial for accurate diagnosis and appropriate management of Zinner Syndrome in the pediatric population.

Achieving and maintaining optimal glycemic targets is the fundamental goal of the management of diabetes. However, failure of oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs) to sustain the targeted glycemic levels in individuals with progressing disease often requires initiation of insulin therapy. This article consolidates the expert opinions of 377 doctors who participated in 34 advisory board meetings held digitally (n=23) and in person (n=11) across India. The present report underscores the need for readily available alternatives, such as biosimilar insulins, in the Indian healthcare market to make insulin accessible to every patient with diabetes. The introduction of biosimilar insulins in the Indian healthcare market is the key to making insulin accessible to every patient with diabetes. Biosimilars are biologic products that closely resemble reference/originator biologics and demonstrate no clinically meaningful differences in safety and effectiveness. The concept of interchangeability serves as a pivotal differentiator for biosimilars, underlining their reliability and safety, and plays a significant role in their broader acceptance and integration into healthcare systems. The 'interchangeability' designation by the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) elevates the biosimilar concept, promoting faster and broader adoption of insulin biosimilars, especially benefiting patients prone to non-adherence to insulin therapy. Healthcare providers are encouraged to consider the option of initiating or transitioning to biosimilar insulin glargine to address the insulin accessibility challenges.

A male patient in his late twenties presented with ambiguous genitalia to our tertiary specialist unit with complaints of short stature and inadequate copulation. There was no history of consanguinity, and a physical examination raised concerns about possible disorders of sexual development (DSD). Karyotyping and fluorescence in situ hybridization results were consistent with the presence of two X chromosomes, revealing the patient to be a genotypic female. Sanger sequencing showed a heterozygous pathogenic mutation in the CYP21A2 gene known to be associated with 21-hydroxylase deficiency, thus confirming the diagnosis of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), Prader stage V. DSD with CAH is distressing for the patient and their families, and the management needs a multidimensional approach involving diverse medical, genetic, and psychological considerations. Cytogenetic and molecular genetic studies play an essential role in diagnosis and decision-making and should be made affordable in developing countries for better patient care.

This study examined the potential effect of ball milling on maize starch (MS), pink potato starch (PPS), and their blends in various ratios (90:10, 80:20, and 70:30) on the pasting and rheological properties. Ball-milling led to changes in the particle size, ranging from 652.9 to 6488 nm, and a decrease in relative crystallinity (RC), as confirmed by XRD. Ball-milling increased amylose concentration in blend with the ratio of 90:10 up to 32.53 %, indicating structural alterations and molecular interactions. FESEM analysis confirms significant changes in the surface and particle sizes and starch gels with honeycomb structures. FTIR and Raman spectroscopy revealed a decrease in the intensity of the 1044 cm-1 and 480 cm-1 bands, respectively, signifying structural changes. Pasting parameters like peak viscosity and gelatinization behavior varied with PPS incorporation. The 80:20 blend had the highest viscosity, demonstrating PPS's capacity for high-viscosity starch paste. Rheological measurements of starch blends exhibited shear-thinning behavior, whereas the viscoelastic properties of the blends are influenced by particle size and the ratio of pink potato starch. Ball-milling treatment affects the granules and causes molecular-level interactions between the particles. This results in unique rheological properties of the starch blends, making them suitable for various applications.

The reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen (N2) to value-added products is a substantial area of research in the fields of sustainable chemistry and renewable energy that aims at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the production of alternative fuels and chemicals. The current work deals with the synthesis of pyrochlore-type europium stannate (Eu2Sn2O7: EuSnO), tungsten disulfide (WS2:WS), and novel EuSnO/WS heterostructure by a simple and facile co-precipitation-aided hydrothermal method. Using different methods, the morphological and structural analyses of the prepared samples were characterized. It was confirmed that a heterostructure was formed between the cubic EuSnO and the layered WS. Synthesized materials were used for photocatalytic CO2 and N2 reduction under UV and visible light. The amount of CO and CH4 evolved due to CO2 reduction is high in EuSnO/WS (CO = 104, CH4 = 64 µmol h-1 g-1) compared to pure EuSnO (CO = 36, CH4 = 70 µmol h-1 g-1) and WS (CO = 22, CH4 = 1.8 µmol h-1 g-1) under visible light. The same trend was observed even in the N2 fixation reaction under visible light, and the amount of NH4+ produced was found to be 13, 26, and 41 µmol h-1 g-1 in the presence of WS, EuSnO and EuSnO/WS, respectively. Enhanced light-driven activity towards CO2 and N2 reduction reactions in EuSnO/WS is due to the efficient charge separation through the formation of type-II heterostructure, which is in part associated with photocurrent response, photoluminescence, and electrochemical impedence spectroscopic (EIS) results. The EuSnO/WS heterostructure's exceptional stability and reusability may pique the attention of pyrochlore-based composite materials in photocatalytic energy and environmental applications.

Secoviruses are single-stranded RNA viruses that infect plants. In the present study, we identified 61 putative novel secoviral genomes in various plant species by mining publicly available plant transcriptome data. These viral sequences represent the genomes of 13 monopartite and 48 bipartite secovirids. The genome sequences of 52 secovirids were coding-complete, and nine were partial. Except for small open reading frames (ORFs) determined in waikaviral genomes and RNA2 of torradoviruses, all of the recovered genomes/genome segments contained a large ORF encoding a polyprotein. Based on genome organization and phylogeny, all but three of the novel secoviruses were assigned to different genera. The genome organization of two identified waika-like viruses resembled that of the recently identified waika-like virus Triticum aestivum secovirus. Phylogenetic analysis revealed a pattern of host-virus co-evolution in a few waika- and waika-like viruses and increased phylogenetic diversity of nepoviruses. The study provides a basis for further investigation of the biological properties of these novel secoviruses.

All pests can be eliminated with the help of pesticides, which can be either natural or synthetic. Because of the excessive use of pesticides, it is harmful to both ecology and people's health. Pesticides are categorised according to several criteria: their chemical composition, method of action, effects, timing of use, source of manufacture, and formulations. Many aquatic animals, birds, and critters live in danger owing to hazardous pesticides. Metaldehyde is available in various forms and causes significant impact even when small amounts are ingested. Metaldehyde can harm wildlife, including dogs, cats, and birds. This review discusses pesticides, their types and potential environmental issues, and metaldehyde's long-term effects. In addition, it examines ways to eliminate metaldehyde from the aquatic ecosystem before concluding by anticipating how pesticides may affect society. The metal-organic framework and other biosorbents have been appropriately synthesized and subsequently represent the amazing removal of pesticides from effluent as an enhanced adsorbent, such as magnetic nano adsorbents. A revision of the risk assessment for metaldehyde residuals in aqueous sources is also attempted.

BACKGROUND: Pulmonary fibrosis is a chronic, progressive lung condition that involves lung tissue scarring and thickening. The effects of home-based pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) in post-covid pulmonary fibrosis (PCPF) and other forms of fibrosis together have not been evaluated. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of home-based pulmonary rehabilitation on pulmonary function, functional capacity, and health-related quality of life in people with pulmonary fibrosis (post-COVID pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis (TB), pulmonary fibrosis secondary to interstitial lung disease (ILD), pulmonary fibrosis secondary to bronchiectasis). METHODS: A single-group pretest-posttest experimental study was performed after recruiting 98 pulmonary fibrosis subjects from K.M.C hospitals. After being screened for the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 45 subjects were analyzed, and 6 subjects were lost to follow-up.  A home-based pulmonary rehabilitation program was carried out for 8 weeks (warm-up, stretching exercises, aerobic exercise, strength training for upper limb and lower limb, breathing exercises mainly involved; others: energy saving techniques, controlled coughing techniques, dyspnea relieving positions). The program was supervised via weekly phone calls. Pulmonary function (Pulmonary function test), exercise capacity (6-minute walk test), dyspnea (modified Borg scale), and health-related quality of life (SF-36) were evaluated before and after the intervention. During the enrollment and after the 6-minute walk test, saturation of peripheral oxygen (SPO2) level was also evaluated pre-intervention and after the 8-weeks program. RESULTS: Pulmonary function [FVC(L) t = -12.52, p<0.05; FEV1(L) t = -2.56, p<0.05; FEV1/FVC t = 7.98, p<0.05 and DLCO (ml/min/mmHg) t = -5.13, p<0.05], 6MWD [MD 88.66; p<0.05] and HRQOL measured by SF-36 scores (p<0.05) were improved significantly. Both the baseline SPO2 level before the 6MWT [MD 1.07, p<0.05] and the SPO2 level after the 6MWT [MD 1.16, p<0.05] showed a significant improvement. The rating of perceived exertion(dyspnea) [MD 1.30, p<0.05] was reduced significantly after the 8-week program. CONCLUSION: Our study shows that home-based pulmonary rehabilitation is an effective option for improving lung function and physical functional capacity by reducing dyspnea perception and improving the saturation of peripheral oxygen (SPO2) level, and enhancing the quality of life in people with pulmonary fibrosis.

Medical image denoising has been a subject of extensive research, with various techniques employed to enhance image quality and facilitate more accurate diagnostics. The evolution of denoising methods has highlighted impressive results but struggled to strike equilibrium between noise reduction and edge preservation which limits its applicability in various domains. This paper manifests the novel methodology that integrates an adaptive masking strategy, transformer-based U-Net Prior generator, edge enhancement module, and modified non-local block (MNLB) for denoising brain MRI clinical images. The adaptive masking strategy maintains the vital information through dynamic mask generation while the prior generator by capturing hierarchical features regenerates the high-quality prior MRI images. Finally, these images are fed to the edge enhancement module to boost structural information by maintaining crucial edge details, and the MNLB produces the denoised output by deriving non-local contextual information. The comprehensive experimental assessment is performed by employing two datasets namely the brain tumor MRI dataset and Alzheimer's dataset for diverse metrics and compared with conventional denoising approaches. The proposed denoising methodology achieves a PSNR of 40.965 and SSIM of 0.938 on the Alzheimer's dataset and also achieves a PSNR of 40.002 and SSIM of 0.926 on the brain tumor MRI dataset at a noise level of 50% revealing its supremacy in noise minimization. Furthermore, the impact of different masking ratios on denoising performance is analyzed which reveals that the proposed method showed PSNR of 40.965, SSIM of 0.938, MAE of 5.847, and MSE of 3.672 at the masking ratio of 60%. Moreover, the findings pave the way for the advancement of clinical image processing, facilitating precise detection of tumors in clinical MRI images.

Introduction. The clinical implications of serum anti-PLA2R with glomerular PLA2R deposits in primary membranous nephropathy (PMN) is scarcely reported. Hence the study was designed to demonstrate the prevalence of serum anti-PLA2R levels and PLA2R staining in glomeruli in PMN and the clinical implications of the two parameters. Objectives. Investigate the prevalence of anti PLA2R positivity in PMN. Ascertain correlation between serum anti-PLA2R levels and glomerular staining for PLA2R with clinical and lab parameters in PMN. Patients and Methods. Fifty PMN patients during the period from October 2017 to December 2018 were included. Labs were done and eGFR was calculated as per MDRD 6. Anti-PLA2R titres were done in all patients. Titres more than 20 RU/ml were considered positive. Glomerular staining for PLA2R was graded on fresh frozen tissue by immunofluorescence technique. Results. Anti-PLA2R antibody positivity and glomerular PLA2R deposition was observed in 42% (21/50) and 86% (43/50) patients respectively. 79.3% (23/29) had positive glomerular PLA2R deposition with negative serum anti PLA2R. Positive correlation were observed between serum PLA2R antibody and serum creatinine (p = 0.0001) and urine protein-creatinine ratio levels with tissue PLA2R staining grades (p = 0.04). Negative association was found between serum albumin (p = 0.026) and tissue PLA2R staining grades. Conclusion. Serum anti-PLA2R wasn't a sensitive marker of primary membranous nephropathy in our study group emphasising the need to consider a compendium of serological markers for diagnosis of primary membranous nephropathy and to rely more on glomerular deposition of PLA2R as a better clinical indicator for PMN.

Objectives: Globally, stroke is known to be one of the major health problems, resulting in disability among an aging population. Rehabilitation is a process of re-learning of skills, lost due to brain injury. Many factors influence motor learning post neurological insult and practice is one of the key factors which influence relearning or reacquisition of lost motor skills. Practice can be varied concerning order (blocked or random), scheduling (massed or distributed), or whole and part practice. The study observed the effect of variations in practice schedules on motor and functional recovery. Materials and Methods: Thirty-two acute stroke subjects were recruited and equally divided into two groups (16 in massed and 16 in distributed). Both groups received an accelerated skill acquisition program (ASAP) for six sessions a week for 2 weeks. Pre- and post-outcome measures included stroke rehabilitation assessment of movement (STREAM) for motor recovery, modified Barthel index (MBI) for functional recovery, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) for neuroplasticity. Results: The median scores of participants in the massed practice group before the intervention, of STREAM total, MBI, and BDNF were 23.5, 19, and 0.65, respectively, whereas post values of STREAM total, MBI, and BDNF were 40.5, 60.5, and 0.75, respectively. The median scores of the distributed practice group of the pre-STREAM total, MBI, and BDNF were 23.5, 6.5, and 0.70, respectively, whereas the post-STREAM total, MBI, and BDNF were 41, 45.5, and 0.80, respectively. P-value was reported to be <0.05 while comparing pre- and post-values of STREAM, MBI, and BDNF within both intervention groups. The median change scores of STREAM, MBI, and BDNF reported P ≥ 0.05 when compared between the groups. Conclusion: Both the groups had significant recovery post-intervention designed based on ASAP, about impairment mitigation, pursuing skilled movement leading to significant functional gains. Appropriate timing along with optimal dosage became an active ingredient in functional recovery in acute stroke subjects. The distributed practice might have added effect of spacing, resulting in easier learning and accuracy of skills. The study reveals that distributed practice can be part of regular clinical practice to enhance functional recovery in acute stroke rehabilitation.

BACKGROUND: Out-of-pocket medical expenses are a crucial metric for assessing how well the healthcare system is working toward obtaining universal health coverage in any country. In India, out-of-pocket expenses for health are relatively high compared to other developed countries due to a lack of alternative finance arrangements. The disparity in out-of-pocket medical expenses largely depends upon the public health expenditure, government policies, and level of health insurance coverage. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study used a logit regression model to examine the association of the status of health insurance with socio and demographic variables using National Sample Survey 2018 data. The objective of the study is to analyze the impact of demographic variables on the status of health insurance in India. RESULTS: This research found that education and occupation have a significant impact on the status of health insurance, among other demographic factors. CONCLUSION: These findings underscore the importance of targeted policies and interventions aimed at improving access to health insurance among specific demographic groups. Addressing disparities in health insurance coverage based on educational and occupational factors is essential for achieving equitable healthcare access and improved health outcomes in the country. Increasing awareness of health insurance reduces out-of-pocket medical expenses and subsequently brings down economic poverty.

Herein, MoS2 quantum dots (QDs) with controlled optical, structural, and electronic properties are synthesized using the femtosecond pulsed laser ablation in liquid (fs-PLAL) technique by varying the pulse width, ablation power, and ablation time to harness the potential for next-generation optoelectronics and quantum technology. Furthermore, this work elucidates key aspects of the mechanisms underlying the near-UV and blue emissions the accompanying large Stokes shift, and the consequent change in sample color with laser exposure parameters pertaining to MoS2 QDs. Through spectroscopic analysis, including UV-visible absorption, photoluminescence, and Raman spectroscopy, we successfully unraveled the mechanisms for the change in optoelectronic properties of MoS2 QDs with laser parameters. We realize that the occurrence of a secondary phase, specifically MoO3-x, is responsible for the significant Stokes shift and blue emission observed in this QD system. The primary factor influencing these activities is the electron transfer observed between these two phases, as validated by excitation-dependent photoluminescence and XPS and Raman spectroscopies.

In this "Decade of Healthy Ageing," the integration of resilience into the healthy aging discourse becomes paramount, particularly in the context of indigenous communities grappling with the enduring effects of historical oppression, persistent poverty, and health disparities in their aging journey. Employing a phenomenological lens, this study seeks to derive the resilient characteristics exhibited by the Attappadi indigenous older adults of Kerala, aiming to explore the role of resilience in their pursuit of healthy aging. In-depth phenomenological interviews (n = 34), observation, and document analysis have revealed four key themes: A life course marked by adversities, Embracing the unyielding strength within, Personal resilience catalysts, and Extrinsic resilience catalysts. The participants exhibited a reasonably well-functioning collective, given their persistent adversities in their life course. Narratives illuminated a notable connection between the presence of resilience characteristics and the overall functioning of older adults. From a social work standpoint on resilience, this article underscores the vital interplay between individual agency and environmental factors in addressing adversity. The article advocates culturally sensitive, asset-based strategies to strengthen indigenous older adults' intrinsic and extrinsic resilience to ensure that they are not left behind in the global pursuit of healthy aging.

This article describes the development of a facile and efficient fluorescence sensor for the determination of glutathione (GSH). Presence of the antioxidant glutathione in blood serum is considered as a biomarker for catastrophe like colorectal cancer. Silver nanoclusters with strong fluorescence and good water solubility synthesized from relatively cheaper precursors are one of the species very much explored in fluorescence sensors and bioimaging. Here, Chicken egg derived-lysozyme functionalized silver nanoclusters (Lyz AgNCs) with red fluorescence emission has been synthesized and developed to a turn-off fluorescence sensor for GSH through which colorimetric determination is also possible. Due to the ground state 'Ag-S' interaction between Lyz AgNCs and GSH, the determination of the analyte is possible from 1.00 × 10-5 M to 1.00 × 10-6 M via fluorimetric and from 9.00 × 10-6 to 8.00 × 10-7 M via spectrophotometric techniques with a limit of detection 2.86 × 10-7 M and 4.76 × 10-7 M, respectively. Selectivity of the sensor has been studied and applicability of the sensor in artificial blood serum samples has been demonstrated.
