RESUMO

Some aspects were studied of the occurrence of disseminated sclerosis (DS) in the south of Ukraine (Odessa and Nikolaev Provinces) with special reference to geoclimatic, ecological and ethnic factors over the period 1992-1993, DS incidence was noted to be on the increase in the region, which fact permits classifying the South territories of Ukraine as a zone with moderate DS prevalence. Data are submitted on nonuniformity of distribution of frequency of DS cases on the territory in question. Lineage was traced to the climatic-and-geographic factors of the region, locality one lives in as well as to sex and race.

RESUMO

To potentiate the psycho- and autonomic activity of phenazepam and to decrease its side effects, cranio-cervical electrophoresis of the drug is suggested. The method is realized with the aid of a special electrode helmet which permits localizing electrodes in the frontal and occipital areas and at different levels of the lateral surfaces of the neck. Phenazepam in the amount of 1 ml of 3% solution was administered from the cathode. 194 patients with the psychovegetative syndrome in the clinical structure of neurosis or neurosis-like condition were treated. The dynamics of the psycho-vegetative status was verified with the aid of psychometric and vegetative techniques. Cerebral hemodynamics was investigated by rheoencephalography. The data obtained demonstrate that the treatment suggested improves the patients' functional status, decreases reactive anxiety, raises the tempo of sensomotor reactions and attention activity, ameliorates short-term memory, exerts a sympatholytic action, and makes cerebral hemodynamics return to normal. The method produces fewer side effects as compared to the enteral intake of phenazepam.

RESUMO

Data are reported of a psycho-vegetative examination in 123 sailors in the dynamics of long-term cruises. A correlation was established in the development of psychological and vegetative disadaptation. The initial stages are characterized by hypersthenic processes in the psychic activity and hypersympathicotonus in the vegetative functions. Three months later the adaptogenesis is prevailed by asthenic processes and by parasympathetic trends of vegetative activity.

RESUMO

As many as 177 patients were subjected to a clinical analysis of the course of vegetovascular dystonia within the scope of the nosologic structure of neuroses with different semiologic manifestations. Use was made of the polymodal clinical classification of vegetovascular dystonia with regard to the vegetative background, from, course, character and rate of crises. It has been established that vegetative function in neuroses is determined by different conditions of the vegetative tone, reactivity and vegetative supply of the activity which requires a differentiated approach to the treatment with an adequate selection of the sympathetic and parasympathetic remedies.
