RESUMO

Deformation control of deep roadways is a major challenge for mine safety production. Taking a deep roadway with a burial depth of 965 m in a mine in North China as the engineering background, on-site investigation found that significant creep deformation occurred in the surrounding rock of the roadway. The original supporting U-shaped steel support failed due to insufficient supporting strength. The rock mass near the roadway experienced a transition from triaxial stress conditions to biaxial and even uniaxial stress states as a result of excavation and unloading, leading to a gradient stress distribution in the surrounding rock. From the perspective of the roadway's deviatoric stress field distribution, we investigated the gradient failure mechanism of the roadway and validated it through theoretical analysis and numerical simulations. The study found that the ratio of horizontal principal stress and vertical principal stress determines the distribution shape of the surrounding rock deviatoric stress field. The gradient distribution of the stress field in the roadway will cause time-related deformation of the roadway, which will lead to large deformation and failure of the roadway. Based on this, the control mechanism of roadway gradient failure was studied, and then a combined support technology of CFST supports with high bearing capacity was proposed.

Protein phosphorylation is an important link in a variety of signaling pathways, and most of the important life processes in cells involve protein phosphorylation. Based on the amino acid residues of phosphorylated proteins, protein kinases can be categorized into the following families: serine/threonine protein kinases, tyrosine-specific protein kinases, histidine-specific protein kinases, tryptophan kinases, and aspartate/glutamyl protein kinases. Of all the protein kinases, most are serine/threonine kinases, where serine/threonine protein kinases are protein kinases that catalyze the phosphorylation of serine or threonine residues on target proteins using ATP as a phosphate donor. The current socially accepted classification of serine/threonine kinases is to divide them into seven major groups: protein kinase A, G, C (AGC), CMGC, Calmodulin-dependent protein kinase (CAMK), Casein kinase (CK1), STE, Tyrosine kinase (TKL) and others. After decades of research, a preliminary understanding of the specific classification and respective functions of serine/threonine kinases has entered a new period of exploration. In this paper, we review the literature of the previous years and introduce the specific signaling pathways and related therapeutic modalities played by each of the small protein kinases in the serine/threonine protein kinase family, respectively, in some common cardiovascular system diseases such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and diabetic cardiomyopathy. To a certain extent, the current research results, including molecular mechanisms and therapeutic methods, are fully summarized and a systematic report is made for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in the future.

INTRODUCTION: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is often misclassified in electronic health records (EHRs) when relying solely on diagnosis codes. This study aimed to develop a more accurate, computable phenotype (CP) for identifying AD patients using structured and unstructured EHR data. METHODS: We used EHRs from the University of Florida Health (UFHealth) system and created rule-based CPs iteratively through manual chart reviews. The CPs were then validated using data from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and the University of Minnesota (UMN). RESULTS: Our best-performing CP was "patient has at least 2 AD diagnoses and AD-related keywords in AD encounters," with an F1-score of 0.817 at UF, 0.961 at UTHealth, and 0.623 at UMN, respectively. DISCUSSION: We developed and validated rule-based CPs for AD identification with good performance, which will be crucial for studies that aim to use real-world data like EHRs. Highlights: Developed a computable phenotype (CP) to identify Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients using EHR data.Utilized both structured and unstructured EHR data to enhance CP accuracy.Achieved a high F1-score of 0.817 at UFHealth, and 0.961 and 0.623 at UTHealth and UMN.Validated the CP across different demographics, ensuring robustness and fairness.

Hepatic fibrosis is a compensatory response to chronic liver injury and inflammation, and dietary intervention is recommended as one of the fundamental prevention strategies. Raspberry ketone (RK) is an aromatic compound first isolated from raspberry and widely used to prepare food flavors. The current study investigated the hepatoprotection and potential mechanism of RK against hepatic fibrosis. In vitro, hepatic stellate cell (HSC) activation was stimulated with TGF-ß and cultured with RK, farnesoid X receptor (FXR), or peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha (PGC-1α) agonist or inhibitor, respectively. In vivo, C57BL/6 mice were injected intraperitoneally with thioacetamide (TAA) at 100/200 mg/kg from the first to the fifth week. Mice were intragastrically administrated with RK or Cur once a day from the second to the fifth week. In activated HSCs, RK inhibited extracellular matrix (ECM) accumulation, inflammation, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process. RK both activated FXR/PGC-1α and regulated their crosstalk, which were verified by their inhibitors and agonists. Deficiency of FXR or PGC-1α also attenuated the effect of RK on the reverse of activated HSCs. RK also decreased serum ALT/AST levels, liver histopathological change, ECM accumulation, inflammation, and EMT in mice caused by TAA. Double activation of FXR/PGC-1α might be the key targets for RK against hepatic fibrosis. Above all, these discoveries supported the potential of RK as a novel candidate for the dietary intervention of hepatic fibrosis.

Bone pain is a presenting feature of bone cancers such as osteosarcoma (OS), relayed by skeletal-innervating peripheral afferent neurons. Potential functions of tumor-associated sensory neurons in bone cancers beyond pain sensation are unknown. To uncover neural regulatory functions, a chemical-genetic approach in mice with a knock-in allele for TrkA was used to functionally perturb sensory nerve innervation during OS growth and disease progression. TrkA inhibition in transgenic mice led to significant reductions in sarcoma-associated sensory innervation and vascularization, tumor growth and metastasis, and prolonged overall survival. Single-cell transcriptomics revealed that sarcoma denervation was associated with phenotypic alterations in both OS tumor cells and cells within the tumor microenvironment, and with reduced calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling. Multimodal and multi-omics analyses of human OS bone samples and human dorsal root ganglia neurons further implicated peripheral innervation and neurotrophin signaling in OS tumor biology. In order to curb tumor-associated axonal ingrowth, we next leveraged FDA-approved bupivacaine liposomes leading to significant reductions in sarcoma growth, vascularity, as well as alleviation of pain. In sum, TrkA-expressing peripheral neurons positively regulate key aspects of OS progression and sensory neural inhibition appears to disrupt calcitonin receptor signaling (CALCR) and VEGF signaling within the sarcoma microenvironment leading to significantly reduced tumor growth and improved survival. These data suggest that interventions to prevent pathological innervation of osteosarcoma represent a novel adjunctive therapy to improve clinical outcomes and survival.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the clinical phenotype and genetic deficiencies present in Chinese aniridia families with PAX6 haplotype deficiency. METHODS: A comprehensive questionnaire and ophthalmological assessments were administered to both affected patients and unaffected relatives. The clinical feature analysis included the evaluation of visual acuity, intraocular pressure, slit-lamp anterior segment examination, fundus photography, and spectral domain optical coherence tomography. To identify the mutation responsible for aniridia, targeted next-generation sequencing was used as a beneficial technique. RESULTS: A total of 4 mutations were identified, consisting of two novel frameshift mutations (c.314delA, p.K105Sfs*33 and c.838_845dup AACACACC, p.S283Tfs*85), along with two recurring nonsense mutations (c.307C>T, p.R103X and c.619A>T, p.K207*). Complete iris absence, macular foveal hypoplasia, and nystagmus were consistent in these PAX6 haplotype-deficient Chinese aniridia families, while corneal lesions, cataracts, and glaucoma exhibited heterogeneity both among the families and within the same family. CONCLUSION: In our study, two novel PAX6 mutations associated with aniridia were identified in Chinese families, which expanded the phenotypic and genotypic spectrum of PAX6 mutations. We also analyzed the clinical characteristics of PAX6 haplotype deficiency in Chinese aniridia families.

BACKGROUND: The correlation between breast cancer and hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains inconclusive. This study aims to explore the serological status of HBV infection and past infection in different age groups of female breast cancer patients, patients with benign breast diseases, and individuals undergoing routine physical examinations. METHODS: Serum data on HBV serological markers were collected and analyzed from 6072 female breast cancer patients first diagnosed from September 2012 to July 2020 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, along with 4019 women with benign breast diseases and 54,740 healthy females undergoing routine physical examinations in the same period. The data were stratified by age for comparison between groups. RESULTS: The prevalence of HBV infection and past infection in the breast cancer group (7.9%, 55.1%) was higher than that in the benign breast disease group (6.5%, 39.1%) and the healthy females group(5.0%, 17.6%);the rate of only HBV surface antibody positivity (HBsAb ( +)) in the breast cancer group (10.3%) was lower than that in the benign breast disease group (26.9%) and the healthy females group (49.2%), with significant differences between the three groups (p < 0.05). Stratified by age, the prevalence of HBV infection in the breast cancer group (8%, 8.9%) and benign breast disease group (7.75%, 8.1%)was higher than that in the healthy females group (4.5%, 6.3%) in the 30-39 and 40-49 age group, respectively. The past infection rate of HBV in the breast cancer group (24.8%, 45.0%) was higher than that in the benign breast disease group (16.1%, 35.4%) in the ≤ 29 and 30-39 age group, respectively.. The past infection rate of HBV in the breast cancer group was higher than that in the healthy females group in all age groups, while the rate of only HBsAb ( +) in the breast cancer group was lower than that in the benign breast disease group and the routine physical examination group in all age groups. CONCLUSIONS: Breast cancer women and women with benign breast diseases have higher rates of hepatitis B virus infection and previous infections, with more significant differences among middle-aged women. Breast cancer women and women with benign breast diseases have lower rates of only HBsAb ( +) for HBV.

BACKGROUND: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a new type of extracorporeal respiratory and circulatory assistance device. It can drain venous blood out of the body and inject it into veins or arteries after being oxygenated by an oxygenator (membrane lung) to replace lung and heart functions in a short time. ECMO can provide tissue blood perfusion and gas exchange almost equivalent to cardiac output and extend the effective treatment time window for patients with acute circulatory failure to restore cardiopulmonary function. CASE SUMMARY: We report a case of an 81-year-old woman who underwent whole cerebral angiography, basilar artery thrombectomy and stent thrombectomy in the posterior artery of the left brain after implantation of ECMO. The patient was admitted to the hospital due to myocardial infarction. Considering that the cause of the patient's disturbance of consciousness was unknown and cerebrovascular accident could not be ruled out after the implantation of ECMO, the department of Radioactive Intervention performed cerebral angiography. And the result of the angiography indicated vascular occlusion. After the basilar artery thrombectomy and stent thrombectomy in the posterior artery of the left brain, the patency of the occlusive vessel was achieved. CONCLUSION: Although the patient eventually died of circulatory failure, the result of this case verifies the feasibility of cerebral angiography and thrombectomy in patients with implanted ECMO in the intubated state.

Platelet-derived growth factor receptor α (PDGFRα) is often considered as a general marker of mesenchymal cells and fibroblasts, but also shows expression in a portion of osteoprogenitor cells. Within the skeleton, Pdgfrα+ mesenchymal cells have been identified in bone marrow and periosteum of long bones, where they play a crucial role in participating in fracture repair. A similar examination of Pdgfrα+ cells in calvarial bone healing has not been examined. Here, we utilize Pdgfrα-CreERTM;mT/mG reporter animals to examine the contribution of Pdgfrα+ mesenchymal cells to calvarial bone repair through histology and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-Seq). Results showed that Pdgfrα+ mesenchymal cells are present in several cell clusters by scRNA-Seq, and by histology a dramatic increase in Pdgfrα+ cells populated the defect site at early timepoints to give rise to healed bone tissue overtime. Notably, diphtheria toxin-mediated ablation of Pdgfrα reporter+ cells resulted in significantly impaired calvarial bone healing. Our findings suggest that Pdgfrα-expressing cells within the calvarial niche play a critical role in the process of calvarial bone repair.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of Barrett's esophagus (BE) in China is lower compared to the Western populations. Hence, studies conducted in the Chinese population has been limited. The current treatment options available for BE treatment includes argon plasma coagulation (APC), radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation, all with varying degrees of success. AIM: To determine the efficacy and safety of HybridAPC in the treatment of BE. METHODS: The study cohort consisted of patients with BE who underwent HybridAPC ablation treatment. These procedures were performed by seven endoscopists from different tertiary hospitals. The duration of the procedure, curative rate, complications and recurrent rate by 1-year follow-up were recorded. RESULTS: Eighty individuals were enrolled for treatment from July 2017 to June 2020, comprising of 39 males and 41 females with a median age of 54 years (range, 30 to 83 years). The technical success rate of HybridAPC was 100% and the overall curative rate was 98.15%. No severe complications occurred during the operation. BE cases were classified as short-segment BE and long-segment BE. Patients with short-segment BE were all considered cured without complications. Thirty-six patients completed the one-year follow-up without recurrence. Twenty-four percent had mild dysplasia which were all resolved with one post-procedural treatment. The mean duration of the procedure was 10.94 ± 6.52 min. CONCLUSION: Treatment of BE with HybridAPC was found to be a simple and quick procedure that is safe and effective during the short-term follow-up, especially in cases of short-segment BE. This technique could be considered as a feasible alternative ablation therapy for BE.

Inspiring the creative potential of overqualified employees can facilitate a mutually beneficial outcome for both the company and the employees. However, further investigation is required to ascertain how to stimulate the perceived overqualification of employees to carry out creative deviance. Drawing upon role theory, this study explores the impact mechanism of perceived overqualification on employee creative deviance, with leadership emergence as the mediating variable, and further examines the moderating role of job autonomy. Adopting a two-stage design, 362 valid data samples were collected from various companies, and analysis was conducted using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results indicate a positive correlation between perceived overqualification and creative deviance. Perceived overqualification not only positively influences leadership emergence but it also indirectly affects creative deviance through leadership emergence. Furthermore, when individuals with perceived overqualification and possess a greater level of job autonomy, they are more likely to engage in creative deviant behavior. The findings contribute to understanding the mediating mechanisms and boundary conditions of employees' perceived overqualification influencing creative deviance from a positive perspective, offering valuable managerial insights for organizations.

Environmental pollution, virus infection, allergens, and other factors may cause respiratory disease, which could be improved by dietary therapy. Allium species are common daily food seasoning and have high nutritional and medical value. Diallyl disulfide (DADS) is the major volatile oil compound of Allium species. The present study aims to explore the preventive effect and potential mechanism of DADS on pulmonary fibrosis. C57BL/6J mice were intratracheally injected with bleomycin (BLM) to establish pulmonary fibrosis and then administrated with DADS. Primary lung fibroblasts or A549 were stimulated with BLM, followed by DADS, farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist (GW4064), yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) inhibitor (verteporfin), or silencing of FXR and YAP1. In BLM-stimulated mice, DADS significantly ameliorated histopathological changes and interleukin-1ß levels in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. DADS decreased fibrosis markers, HIF-1α, inflammatory cytokines, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition in pulmonary mice and activated fibroblasts. DADS significantly enhanced FXR expression and inhibited YAP1 activation, which functions as GW4064 and verteporfin. A deficiency of FXR or YAP1 could result in the increase of these two protein expressions, respectively. DADS ameliorated extracellular matrix deposition, hypoxia, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and inflammation in FXR or YAP1 knockdown A549. Taken together, targeting the crosstalk of FXR and YAP1 might be the potential mechanism for DADS against pulmonary fibrosis. DADS can serve as a potential candidate or dietary nutraceutical supplement for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis.

In the field, necrosis area induced by pathogens is usually surrounded by a red circle in apple fruits. However, the underlying molecular mechanism of this phenomenon remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrated that accumulated salicylic acid (SA) induced by fungal infection promoted anthocyanin biosynthesis through MdNPR1-MdTGA2.2 module in apple (Malus domestica). Inoculating apple fruits with Valsa mali or Botryosphaeria dothidea induced a red circle surrounding the necrosis area, which mimicked the phenotype observed in the field. The red circle accumulated a high level of anthocyanins, which was positively correlated with SA accumulation stimulated by fungal invasion. Further analysis showed that SA promoted anthocyanin biosynthesis in a dose-dependent manner in both apple calli and fruits. We next demonstrated that MdNPR1, a master regulator of SA signaling, positively regulated anthocyanin biosynthesis in both apple and Arabidopsis. Moreover, MdNPR1 functioned as a co-activator to interact with and enhance the transactivation activity of MdTGA2.2, which could directly bind to the promoters of anthocyanin biosynthetic and regulatory genes to promote their transcription. Suppressing expression of either MdNPR1 or MdTGA2.2 inhibited coloration of apple fruits, while overexpressing either of them significantly promoted fruit coloration. Finally, we revealed that silencing either MdNPR1 or MdTGA2.2 in apple fruits repressed SA-induced fruit coloration. Therefore, our data determined that fungal-induced SA promoted anthocyanin biosynthesis through MdNPR1-MdTGA2.2 module, resulting in a red circle surrounding the necrosis area in apple fruits.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) has two main histological subtypes: large and small duct-type iCCA, which are characterized by different clinicopathological features. This study was conducted with the purpose of expanding our understanding of their differences in molecular features and immune microenvironment. METHODS: We selected 132 patients who underwent radical surgery at our department between 2015 and 2021 for clinical and survival analyses. Whole-exome sequencing was performed to analyse mutational landscapes. Bulk RNA sequencing and single-cell RNA sequencing data were used for pathway enrichment and immune infiltration analyses based on differentially expressed genes. The function of PPP1R1B was analysed both in vitro and in vivo and the gene mechanism was further investigated. RESULTS: We found that large duct-type iCCA had worse overall survival and recurrence-free survival rates than small duct-type iCCA. Mutations in ARID1A, DOT1L and ELF3 usually occur in large duct-type iCCA, whereas mutations in IDH1 and BAP1 occur in small duct-type iCCA. Among the differentially expressed genes, we found that PPP1R1B was highly expressed in large duct-type iCCA tumour tissues. Expression of PPP1R1B promoted cell proliferation, migration and invasion and indicated a worse prognosis. A combination of USF2 with the promoter of PPP1R1B can enhance gene expression in iCCA, which may further affect the expression of genes such as AHNAK, C4BPA and activating the PI3K/AKT pathway. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings extend our understanding of large and small duct-type iCCA. In addition, PPP1R1B may serve as a potential marker and therapeutic target for large duct-type iCCA.

The profound pain accompanying bone fracture is mediated by somatosensory neurons, which also appear to be required to initiate bone regeneration following fracture. Surprisingly, the precise neuroanatomical circuitry mediating skeletal nociception and regeneration remains incompletely understood. Here, we characterized somatosensory dorsal root ganglia (DRG) afferent neurons innervating murine long bones before and after experimental long bone fracture in mice. Retrograde labeling of DRG neurons by an adeno-associated virus with peripheral nerve tropism showed AAV-tdT signal. Single cell transcriptomic profiling of 6,648 DRG neurons showed highest labeling across CGRP+ neuron clusters (6.9-17.2%) belonging to unmyelinated C fibers, thinly myelinated Aδ fibers and Aß-Field LTMR (9.2%). Gene expression profiles of retrograde labeled DRG neurons over multiple timepoints following experimental stress fracture revealed dynamic changes in gene expression corresponding to the acute inflammatory ( S100a8 , S100a9 ) and mechanical force ( Piezo2 ). Reparative phase after fracture included morphogens such as Tgfb1, Fgf9 and Fgf18 . Two methods to surgically or genetically denervate fractured bones were used in combination with scRNA-seq to implicate defective mesenchymal cell proliferation and osteodifferentiation as underlying the poor bone repair capacity in the presence of attenuated innervation. Finally, multi-tissue scRNA-seq and interactome analyses implicated neuron-derived FGF9 as a potent regulator of fracture repair, a finding compatible with in vitro assessments of neuron-to-skeletal mesenchyme interactions.

Beyond the sensation of pain, peripheral nerves have been shown to play crucial roles in tissue regeneration and repair. As a highly innervated organ, bone can recover from injury without scar formation, making it an interesting model in which to study the role of nerves in tissue regeneration. As a comparison, tendon is a musculoskeletal tissue that is hypo-innervated, with repair often resulting in scar formation. Here, we reviewed the significance of innervation in three stages of injury repair (inflammatory, reparative, and remodeling) in two commonly injured musculoskeletal tissues: bone and tendon. Based on this focused review, we conclude that peripheral innervation is essential for phases of proper bone and tendon repair, and that nerves may dynamically regulate the repair process through interactions with the injury microenvironment via a variety of neuropeptides or neurotransmitters. A deeper understanding of neuronal regulation of musculoskeletal repair, and the crosstalk between nerves and the musculoskeletal system, will enable the development of future therapies for tissue healing.


Accumulating evidence has shown that, across organs systems, peripheral nerves regulate the process of tissue repair and regeneration. This is particularly relevant in the context of musculoskeletal injuries such as those affecting the bone and tendon. The question then arises: what is the function of peripheral innervation in the repair of bone and tendon injuries? This review offers an in-depth look at the ways in which nerves regulate the healing of bone and tendon injuries at various stages of recovery. A deeper comprehension of the influence of nerves on the repair of these tissues could pave the way for the development of future therapeutic strategies for tissue healing.

Electrocatalytic water splitting shows great potential for producing clean and green hydrogen, but it is hindered by slow reaction kinetics. Advanced electrocatalysts are needed to lower the energy barriers. The establishment of built-in electric fields (BIEF) in heterointerfaces has been found to be beneficial for speeding up electron transfer, increasing electrical conductivity, adjusting the local reaction environment, and optimizing the chemisorption energy with intermediates. Engineering and modifying the BIEF in heterojunctions offer significant opportunities to enhance the electronic properties of catalysts, thus improving reaction kinetics. This comprehensive review focuses on the latest advances in BIEF engineering in heterojunction catalysts for efficient water electrolysis. It highlights the fundamentals, engineering, modification, characterization, and application of BIEF in electrocatalytic water splitting. The review also discusses the challenges and future prospects of BIEF engineering. Overall, this review provides a thorough examination of BIEF engineering for the next generation of water electrolysis devices.

BACKGROUND: The gut microbiota plays a critical role in regulating brain function through the microbiome-gut-brain axis (MGBA). Dysbiosis of the gut microbiota is associated with neurological impairment in Traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients. Our previous study found that TBI results in a decrease in the abundance of Prevotella copri (P. copri). P. copri has been shown to have antioxidant effects in various diseases. Meanwhile, guanosine (GUO) is a metabolite of intestinal microbiota that can alleviate oxidative stress after TBI by activating the PI3K/Akt pathway. In this study, we investigated the effect of P. copri transplantation on TBI and its relationship with GUO-PI3K/Akt pathway. METHODS: In this study, a controlled cortical impact (CCI) model was used to induce TBI in adult male C57BL/6J mice. Subsequently, P. copri was transplanted by intragastric gavage for 7 consecutive days. To investigate the effect of the GUO-PI3K/Akt pathway in P. copri transplantation therapy, guanosine (GUO) was administered 2 h after TBI for 7 consecutive days, and PI3K inhibitor (LY294002) was administered 30 min before TBI. Various techniques were used to assess the effects of these interventions, including quantitative PCR, neurological behavior tests, metabolite analysis, ELISA, Western blot analysis, immunofluorescence, Evans blue assays, transmission electron microscopy, FITC-dextran permeability assay, gastrointestinal transit assessment, and 16 S rDNA sequencing. RESULTS: P. copri abundance was significantly reduced after TBI. P. copri transplantation alleviated motor and cognitive deficits tested by the NSS, Morris's water maze and open field test. P. copri transplantation attenuated oxidative stress and blood-brain barrier damage and reduced neuronal apoptosis after TBI. In addition, P. copri transplantation resulted in the reshaping of the intestinal flora, improved gastrointestinal motility and intestinal permeability. Metabolomics and ELISA analysis revealed a significant increase in GUO levels in feces, serum and injured brain after P. copri transplantation. Furthermore, the expression of p-PI3K and p-Akt was found to be increased after P. copri transplantation and GUO treatment. Notably, PI3K inhibitor LY294002 treatment attenuated the observed improvements. CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrate for the first time that P. copri transplantation can improve GI functions and alter gut microbiota dysbiosis after TBI. Additionally, P. copri transplantation can ameliorate neurological deficits, possibly via the GUO-PI3K/Akt signaling pathway after TBI.

Lithium hydride (LiH), a saline hydride with a hydrogen density of 12.6 wt %, is highly thermostable, which hinders its extensive application in hydrogen storage. In this study, we demonstrate a distinct photodecomposition of LiH under ambient conditions. Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) illumination induces hydrogen release and creates surface hydrogen vacancies on LiH. The subsequent H- migration enables hydrogen desorption and the accumulation of vacancies at the subsurface, resulting in the generation of metallic Li clusters. Rehydrogenation, on the contrary, can be charged under UV-vis illumination in 1 bar H2. Such phenomena show that the thermodynamic and kinetic limits in the re/dehydrogenation of LiH can be broken under illumination, which allows hydrogen storage over the LiH surface at temperatures ∼600 K lower than those of the corresponding thermal process. This work provides new insights into the interaction of semiconducting hydrides and photons and opens an avenue for the development and optimization of materials for hydrogen storage and related photodriven reactions.
