RESUMO

Multisource optical remote sensing (RS) image classification has obtained extensive research interest with demonstrated superiority. Existing approaches mainly improve classification performance by exploiting complementary information from multisource data. However, these approaches are insufficient in effectively extracting data features and utilizing correlations of multisource optical RS images. For this purpose, this article proposes a generalized spatial-spectral relation-guided fusion network ( S2 RGF-Net) for multisource optical RS image classification. First, we elaborate on spatial-and spectral-domain-specific feature encoders based on data characteristics to explore the rich feature information of optical RS data deeply. Subsequently, two relation-guided fusion strategies are proposed at the dual-level (intradomain and interdomain) to integrate multisource image information effectively. In the intradomain feature fusion, an adaptive de-redundancy fusion module (ADRF) is introduced to eliminate redundancy so that the spatial and spectral features are complete and compact, respectively. In interdomain feature fusion, we construct a spatial-spectral joint attention module (SSJA) based on interdomain relationships to sufficiently enhance the complementary features, so as to facilitate later fusion. Experiments on various multisource optical RS datasets demonstrate that S2 RGF-Net outperforms other state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods.

RESUMO

The purpose of the present study was to estimate the factors linked to the prognosis of children with provisional tic disorder (PTD). We conducted a prospective cohort study enrolled children with PTD who were subsequently followed-up at three-month intervals for 1 year post-enrolment. A total of 259 PTD patients were included in the final analysis. At the end of the follow-up period, 77 (30%) of the patients had achieved clinical remission. Result of the LASSO logistic regression analysis revealed that a disease duration >3 months (OR=4.20, 95% CI 1.20-14.73), moderate/severe tic severity (OR=5.57, 95% CI 2.26-13.76), and comorbid behavioral problems (OR=2.78, 95% CI 1.15-6.69) were significant factors linked to remission in the PTD patients. The path analysis model showed that comorbid behavioral problems and recurrence partially mediated the association between tic severity and remission, with a mediating effect of 37%. Conclusions: We have identified several significant factors linked to prognosis in children with PTD, including comorbid behavioral problems and recurrence, which were found to be important mediators. These findings provide new insights for the clinical management of patients with PTD.

RESUMO

Syzygium buxifolium. Hook. Et Arn.1833 is a member of the Myrtaceae family. This species is used in traditional Chinese medicines. It possesses numerous synonyms, reflecting the ambiguity in its taxonomy. The chloroplast genome has been widely used for species identification and phylogenetic analysis. Regrettably, there is a lack of information regarding the chloroplast genome of S. buxifolium. Here, we intend to obtain the chloroplast genome of S. buxifolium to resolve its classification problems. In particular, we utilized Illumina sequencing technology to sequence, GetOrganelle to assemble, and CPGAVAS2 to characterize the chloroplast genome of S. buxifolium. The chloroplast genome of S. buxifolium had a length of 158,581 bp and consisted of 111 unique genes, comprising 78 protein-coding genes, 29 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and four ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes. In addition, we identified 86 Simple Sequence Repeats, 345 tandem repetitive sequences, and 34 dispersed repetitive sequences using modules implemented in CPGAVAS2. Lastly, we carried out phylogenetic analysis using Phylosuite. The results indicated a close relationship between S. buxifolium and S. grijsii. This study offers novel genetic data for the molecular identification and subsequent phylogenetic analysis of the Syzygium genus.

RESUMO

Objectives: To demonstrate a novel digital technique that enables real-time visualisation of occlusal transfer and adjustment of condyle position, to (1) improve the repeatability of occlusal transfer and the accuracy of condyle position adjustment and (2) be clinically effective in helping to restore the disc-condyle relationship. Materials and methods: Three participants were included in the study and underwent facebow transfers using two different methods. The digital method used patient-related three-dimensional imaging data matched with digital dental casts for occlusal transfer. The conventional method used anatomical facebows. The condylar position was adjusted based on occlusal transfer results. The results were evaluated and compared in three dimensions. In addition, clinical application data from 36 patients were analysed before and after condylar position adjustment. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: Differences in the spatial positions of the three anatomical structures reproduced by both methods were statistically significant (p = 0.000). After adjusting the rotation of the condylar position, the positional deviation of the condylar point along the X- and Z-axes was significantly lower in the digital group (p < 0.05). After adjustment for translation (X and Z), the positional deviation showed no difference along the X- and Z-axes (p > 0.05) but a significant difference along the Y-axis (p < 0.001). Conclusion: A novel digital technique for occlusal transfer and condylar position adjustment was presented. This technique simplifies clinical practice, improves the accuracy of results, and can help restore a normal disc-condyle relationship.

RESUMO

Rhombohedral-stacked transition-metal dichalcogenides (3R-TMDs), which are distinct from their hexagonal counterparts, exhibit higher carrier mobility, sliding ferroelectricity, and coherently enhanced nonlinear optical responses. However, surface epitaxial growth of large multilayer 3R-TMD single crystals is difficult. We report an interfacial epitaxy methodology for their growth of several compositions, including molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), molybdenum diselenide, tungsten disulfide, tungsten diselenide, niobium disulfide, niobium diselenide, and molybdenum sulfoselenide. Feeding of metals and chalcogens continuously to the interface between a single-crystal Ni substrate and grown layers ensured consistent 3R stacking sequence and controlled thickness from a few to 15,000 layers. Comprehensive characterizations confirmed the large-scale uniformity, high crystallinity, and phase purity of these films. The as-grown 3R-MoS2 exhibited room-temperature mobilities up to 155 and 190 square centimeters per volt second for bi- and trilayers, respectively. Optical difference frequency generation with thick 3R-MoS2 showed markedly enhanced nonlinear response under a quasi-phase matching condition (five orders of magnitude greater than monolayers).

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: To investigate the autoinflammatory effect and biological behaviour of simvastatin (SIM) on adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma (ACP) cells. METHODS: Craniopharyngiomas imaging, intraoperative observations, and tumour histopathology were employed to investigate the correlation between esters and craniopharyngiomas. Filipin III fluorescent probe verified the validity of SIM on the alternations of synthesized cholesterol in craniopharyngioma cells. The cell counting kit-8 (CCK8) assay detected the impacts of SIM on cell proliferation and determined the IC50 value of tumour cells. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) measured the expression of inflammatory factors. Flow cytometry technique detected the cell cycle and apoptosis, and cell scratch assay judged the cell migration. Meanwhile, Western blot was adopted to determine the expression of proteins related to inflammation, proliferation, and apoptosis signalling pathways. RESULTS: In the ACP tumour parenchyma, many cholesterol crystalline clefts were observed, and the deposition of esters was closely associated with craniopharyngioma inflammation. After simvastatin intervention, a reduction in cholesterol synthesis within ACP was noted. RT-PCR analysis revealed SIM inhibited the transcription of inflammatory factors in ACP cells. Western blot analysis demonstrated SIM inhibited nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) p65 activation expression while promoted the expressions of Cl-caspase-3 and P38 MAPK. CCK8 assay indicated a decrease in ACP cell activity upon SIM treatment. Scratch assay signified that SIM hindered ACP cell migration. Flow cytometry results suggested that the drug promoted ACP cell apoptosis. CONCLUSION: SIM suppressed the inflammatory response to craniopharyngiomas by inhibiting craniopharyngioma cholesterol synthesis, inhibited proliferation of ACP cells, and promoted their apoptosis.

RESUMO

Rothia dentocariosa is a conditionally pathogenic bacterium that may cause infective endocarditis (IE) in selected patients and give rise to a variety of clinical complications, albeit it is not a common IE pathogen. We present the case of a patient diagnosed with Rothia dentocariosa-associated IE secondary to influenza B and thrombocytopenic purpura. The blood culture revealed Rochebacterium caries, cardiac ultrasound detected vegetation, while brain and spleen abscesses manifested and progressively deteriorated. Despite a suboptimal response to anti-infective therapy, the patient ultimately underwent aortic valve replacement. Discharge from the hospital was achieved upon control of the brain abscess and spleen abscess.

RESUMO

Angiogenesis serves as the determinate element of pulp regeneration. Dental pulp stem cell (DPSC) implantation can promote the regeneration of dental pulp tissue. Herein, the role of m6A methyltransferase methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) in regulating DPSCs-induced angiogenesis during pulp regeneration therapy was investigated. Cell DPSC viability, HUVEC migration, and angiogenesis ability were analyzed by CCK-8 assay, wound healing, Transwell assay, and tube formation assay. The global and EST1 mRNA m6A levels were detected by m6A dot blot and Me-RIP. The interactions between E26 transformation-specific proto-oncogene 1(ETS1), human antigen R(HuR), and METTL3 were analyzed by RIP assay. The relationship between METTL3 and the m6A site of ETS1 was performed by dual-luciferase reporter assay. ETS1 mRNA stability was examined with actinomycin D. Herein, our results revealed that human immature DPSCs (hIDPSCs) showed stronger ability to induce angiogenesis than human mature DPSCs (hMDPSCs), which might be related to ETS1 upregulation. ETS1 knockdown inhibited DPSCs-induced angiogenesis. Our mechanistic experiments demonstrated that METTL3 increased ETS1 mRNA stability and expression level on DPSCs in an m6A-HuR-dependent manner. ETS1 upregulation abolished sh-METTL3's inhibition on DPSCs-induced angiogenesis. METTL3 upregulation promoted DPSCs-induced angiogenesis by enhancing ETS1 mRNA stability in an m6A-HuR-dependent manner. This study reveals a new mechanism by which m6A methylation regulates angiogenesis in DPSCs, providing new insights for stem cell-based tissue engineering.

RESUMO

The changing climate poses a growing challenge to the population health. The objective of this study was to assess the association between ambient temperature and cause-specific mortality in Suzhou. Based on the non-accidental mortality data collected during 2008-2022 in Suzhou, China, this study utilized an individual-level case-crossover design to evaluate the associations of temperature with cause-specific mortality. We applied a distributed lag nonlinear model with a maximum lag of 14 days to account for lag effects. Mortality risk due to extreme cold (<2.5th percentile) and extreme heat (>97.5th percentile) was analyzed. A total of 634,530 non-accidental deaths were analyzed in this study. An inverse J-shaped exposure-response relationship was observed between ambient temperature and non-accidental mortality, with the minimum mortality temperature (MMT) at 29.1℃. The relative risk (RR) of mortality associated with extreme cold (2.5th percentile) was 1.37 [95 % confidence interval (CI): 1.30, 1.44], higher than estimate of 1.09 (95 %CI: 1.07, 1.11) for extreme heat (97.5th percentile) relative to the MMT. Heat effect lasted for 2-3 days, while cold effect could persist for almost 14 days. Higher mortality risk estimates were observed for cardiorespiratory deaths compared to total deaths, with statistically significant between-group differences. Consequently, this study provides first-hand evidence on the associations between ambient temperatures and mortality risks from various causes, which could help local government and policy-makers in designing targeted strategies and public health measures against the menace of climate change.

RESUMO

Background: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) patients require comprehensive disease education and mutual support to cope with various challenges. Social media platforms provide opportunities for DKD patients to access information and interact with peers. However, qualitative analysis of DKD patients' real-world concerns and needs on social media is lacking. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted to analyze DKD patients' posts on Facebook and Baidu DKD-specific forums from June 2013 to June 2023. Posts were retrieved, and the forum with the most DKD-related posts from each platform was selected using stratified random sampling. Thematic analysis was performed to identify common themes, which were categorized and quantified. Results: In total, 746 DKD-related posts were analyzed, generating 203 keyword categories with 954 tags. Three main themes emerged: Diagnosis and Comorbidities (50.2%), Treatment and Prevention (29.7%), and Lifestyle and Psychology (20.1%). Patients were most concerned about DKD diagnosis, staging, comorbidities, and interpreting diagnostic indicators. They also sought information on treatment advancements, medications, renal replacement therapies, and traditional Chinese medicine. Diet, exercise, work-life balance, family planning, and mental well-being were key lifestyle and psychological concerns. Conclusion: This study reveals DKD patients' primary needs and concerns on social media, which can guide healthcare professionals in providing targeted education and support. Meeting patients' needs through comprehensive education and counseling can improve treatment adherence and prognosis, though challenges remain in addressing all issues in real-world practice.

RESUMO

AIM: The present study was conducted to measure the expression of early growth response factor 3 (Egr3), inflammatory cytokines (IL-1ß, IL-6), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and NF-κB in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) to investigate the relationships of these molecules and Egr3 gene expression. METHODS: We recruited 132 CAD patients and 63 healthy individuals. The expression levels of Egr3, VEGF, p50 and p65 were measured by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction and the levels of Egr3, IL-1ß and IL-6 in patients serum and in human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAECs) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISAs) in CAD patients. HCAECs were treated with ox-LDL to establish an in vitro atherosclerosis model. An oil red O staining assay was used to assess the lipid droplet formation. A colloidal external lumen formed by Matrigel was used to test the migration of HCAECs. The expression of Egr3, VEGF and NF-κB was determined by Western blotting. RESULTS: The levels of serum Egr3 and IL-6 in the severe stenosis group were greater than those in the mild stenosis group and controls (p < 0.05). The level of serum IL-1ß in the severe stenosis group was greater than that in the control group (p < 0.05). Moreover, Egr3 expression was positively associated with IL-6 levels (r= 0.55, p < 0.001), IL-1ß levels (r=0.21, p=0.004) and the Gensini score (r=0.20, p=0.02). We also found that Egr3 expression was significantly greater in CAD patients than that in controls. And its expression was highest in the mild patients. The expression of VEGF, P50 and P65 was also greater in CAD patients. In the in vitro experiment, we found that the inhibition of Egr3 expression significantly reduced the expression levels of p50, p65, IL-6 and CRP. Moreover, the inhibition of Egr3 expression significantly reduced the lipid droplet formation and decreased capability of lumen formation. CONCLUSIONS: In the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, Egr3 gene expression may induce the expression of inflammatory factors and lipid droplet formation and lumen formation, which could promote the atherosclerosis development.

RESUMO

Traditional decomposition integration models decompose the original sequence into subsequences, which are then proportionally divided into training and testing periods for modeling. Decomposition may cause data aliasing, then the decomposed training period may contain part of the test period data. A more effective method of sample construction is sought in order to accurately validate the model prediction accuracy. Semi-stepwise decomposition (SSD), full stepwise decomposition (FSD), single model semi-stepwise decomposition (SMSSD), and single model full stepwise decomposition (SMFSD) techniques were used to create the samples. This study integrates Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD), African Vulture Optimization Algorithm (AVOA), and Least Squares Support Vector Machine (LSSVM) to construct a coupled rainfall prediction model. The influence of different VMD parameters α is examined, and the most suitable stepwise decomposition machine learning coupled model algorithm for various stations in the North China Plain is selected. The results reveal that SMFSD is relatively the most suitable tool for monthly precipitation forecasting in the North China Plain. Among the predictions for the five stations, the best overall performance is observed at Huairou Station (RMSE of 18.37 mm, NSE of 0.86, MRE of 107.2%) and Jingxian Station (RMSE of 24.74 mm, NSE of 0.86, MRE of 51.71%), while Hekou Station exhibits the poorest performance (RMSE of 25.11 mm, NSE of 0.75, MRE of 173.75%).

RESUMO

Ecdysis-triggering hormone (ETH) is a neuropeptide hormone characterized by a conserved KxxKxxPRx amide structure widely identified in arthropods. While its involvement in the regulation of molting and reproduction in insects is well-established, its role in crustaceans has been overlooked. This study aimed to de-orphanise a receptor for ETH in the mud crab Scylla paramamosain and explore its potential impact on ovarian development. A 513-amino-acid G protein-coupled receptor for ETH (SpETHR) was identified in S. paramamosain, exhibiting a dose-dependent activation by SpETH with an EC50 value of 75.18 nM. Tissue distribution analysis revealed SpETH was in the cerebral ganglion and thoracic ganglion, while SpETHR was specifically expressed in the ovary, hepatopancreas, and Y-organ of female crabs. In vitro experiments demonstrated that synthetic SpETH (at a concentration of 10-8 M) significantly increased the expression of SpVgR in the ovary and induced ecdysone biosynthesis in the Y-organ. In vivo experiments showed a significant upregulation of SpEcR in the ovary and Disembodied and Shadow in the Y-organ after 12 h of SpETH injection. Furthermore, a 16-day administration of SpETH significantly increased 20E titers in hemolymph, gonadosomatic index (GSI) and oocyte size of S. paramamosain. In conclusion, our findings suggest that SpETH may play stimulatory roles in ovarian development and ecdysone biosynthesis by the Y-organ.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To use T1ρ mapping to assess myocardial fibrosis and to provide a reference for future clinical application, it is necessary to understand the factors influencing T1ρ values. This study explored the influence of different spin-locking frequencies on T1ρ values under a 3.0-T MR system. METHODS: Fifty-seven healthy subjects were prospectively and consecutively included in this study, and T1ρ mapping was performed on them in 3 short-axis slices with three spin-lock frequencies at the amplitude of 300 Hz, 400 Hz, and 500 Hz, then nine T1ρ images were acquired per subject. Four T1ρ-weighted images were acquired using a spin-lock preparation pulse with varying durations (0 msec, 13.3 msec, 26.6 msec, 40 msec). T1ρ relaxation times were quantified for each slice and each myocardial segment. The results were analyzed using Student's t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) methods. RESULTS: Mean T1ρ relaxation times were 43.5 ± 2.8 msec at 300 Hz, 44.9 ± 3.6 msec at 400 Hz, and 46.2 ± 3.1 msec at 500 Hz, showing a significant progressive increase from low to high spin-lock frequency (300 Hz vs. 400 Hz, p = 0.046; 300 Hz vs. 500 Hz, p < 0.001; 400 Hz vs. 500 Hz, p = 0.043). In addition, The T1ρ values of females were significantly higher than those of males (300 Hz, p = 0.049; 400 Hz, p = 0.01; 500 Hz, p = 0.002). CONCLUSION: In this prospective study, myocardial T1ρ values for the specific CMR setting are provided, and we found that gender and spin-lock frequency can affect the T1ρ values. CRITICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: T1ρ mapping could supersede late gadolinium enhancement for detection of myocardial fibrosis. Establishing reference mean values that take key technical elements into account will facilitate interpretation of data in disease states. KEY POINTS: This study established myocardial T1ρ reference values for different spin-lock frequencies. T1ρ values increased with spin-lock frequency, but numerical differences were minimal. Females had higher T1ρ values than males at all frequencies.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Amyloidosis is a rare disorder that can be classified into various types, and the most common type is the systemic light chain type. The prognosis of this disease is extremely poor. In general, amyloidosis mainly affects the kidneys and heart and manifests as abnormal proliferation of clonal plasma cells. Cases in which the liver is the primary organ affected by amyloidosis, as in this report, are less common in clinical practice. CASE SUMMARY: A 62-year-old man was admitted with persistent liver dysfunction of unknown cause and poor treatment outcomes. His condition persisted, and he developed chronic liver failure, with severe cholestasis in the later stage that was gradually accompanied by renal injury. Ultimately, he was diagnosed with hepatic amyloidosis through liver biopsy and pathological examination. CONCLUSION: Hepatic amyloidosis rarely occurs in the clinic, and liver biopsy and pathological examination can assist in the accurate and effective diagnosis of this condition.

RESUMO

Current-use pesticides (CUPs), including insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides, are extensively employed in agriculture to manage pests, diseases, and weeds. Nonetheless, their widespread application raises significant concerns regarding potential impacts on human health, particularly with reproductive health. This study focuses on exploring the landscape of CUP exposure among pre-pregnancy women. Based on a cohort study comprising 354 pre-pregnancy women of reproductive age in Beijing, China, we measured the concentrations of 94 CUPs in serum and conducted an in-depth analysis of exposure profiles, health risks, and contributing factors. The results revealed that the serum of pre-pregnancy women was contaminated with CUPs, of which the median concentrations ranged from 0.114 (fenamiphos-sulfone) to 61.2 ng/L (mefenacet). Among the 94 CUPs, 54 exhibited detection rates higher than 50 %, including 26 insecticides, 14 fungicides, and 14 herbicides. The exposure concentration profile highlighted that the insecticides contributed 56 % to the total CUP concentration percentages, with organophosphate insecticides being the primary contributors within this category (63.0 %). The average daily intake (ADI) of CUPs ranged from 2.23 to 16,432.28 ng/kg, while diflubenzuron had the highest ADI. Health risk assessments showed that exposure to a combination of total insecticides or herbicides poses a moderate risk for 15.8 % and 30.2 % of women, with mefenacet being the most significant, which showed moderate hazard in 29.4 % of participants. The overlap analysis showed that methiocarb-sulfone, diflubenzuron, and mefenacet were the dominant pesticides. In addition, maternal age, annual income level, smoking, and vitamin B12 supplementation were associated with serum CUP concentrations. Our study contributes a novel and comprehensive exposure profile of CUPs in pre-pregnancy women in northern China, providing valuable insights for evaluating the potential consequences of pre-pregnancy exposure on reproductive health. SYNOPSIS: We provided a comprehensive exposure landscape, health effects, and influential factors of 94 current-use pesticides among pre-pregnancy women in China.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIM: The impact of low platelet count on outcomes in patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) undergoing Mechanical Thrombectomy (MT) is still unclear. In this study we have further explored the effect of thrombocytopenia on the safety and efficacy of MT in patients with anterior circulation Large Vessel Occlusion (LVO) stroke. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients with AIS who underwent MT at our center between June 2015 and November 2021 were examined. Based on the platelet count recorded on admission patients were divided into two groups: those with thrombocytopenia (<150 × 109/L) and those without thrombocytopenia (≥ 150 × 109/L). Symptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage (sICH) was the primary safety outcome. The efficacy outcome was functional independence defined as a 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 0-2. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to determine the risk factors for post-procedure sICH and 90-day functional outcomes. RESULTS: Among 302 patients included in the study, thrombocytopenia was detected in 111 (36.8%) cases. Univariate analysis showed age, the proportion of atrial fibrillation, the rates of sICH, 90-day poor outcomes, and mortality to be higher in patients with thrombocytopenia (all p < 0.05). Multivariable analysis showed thrombocytopenia to be independently associated with a higher rate of sICH (OR 2.022, 95% CI 1.074-3.807, p =0.029) however, thrombocytopenia did not affect the 90-day functional outcomes (OR 1.045, 95%CI 0.490-2.230, p =0.909) and mortality (OR 1.389, 95% CI 0.467- 4.130 p = 0.554). CONCLUSION: Thrombocytopenia may increase the risk of sICH but not affect the 90-day functional outcomes and mortality in patients with AIS treated with MT.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: We aimed to establish a prognostic predictive model based on machine learning (ML) methods to predict the 28-day mortality of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients, and to evaluate treatment effectiveness. METHODS: ACLF patients from six tertiary hospitals were included for analysis. Features for ML models' development were selected by LASSO regression. Models' performance was evaluated by area under the curve (AUC) and accuracy. Shapley additive explanation was used to explain the ML model. RESULTS: Of the 736 included patients, 587 were assigned to a training set and 149 to an external validation set. Features selected included age, hepatic encephalopathy, total bilirubin, PTA, and creatinine. The eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGB) model outperformed other ML models in the prognostic prediction of ACLF patients, with the highest AUC and accuracy. Delong's test demonstrated that the XGB model outperformed Child-Pugh score, MELD score, CLIF-SOFA, CLIF-C OF, and CLIF-C ACLF. Sequential assessments at baseline, day 3, day 7, and day 14 improved the predictive performance of the XGB-ML model and can help clinicians evaluate the effectiveness of medical treatment. CONCLUSIONS: We established an XGB-ML model to predict the 28-day mortality of ACLF patients as well as to evaluate the treatment effectiveness.
