RESUMO

To evaluate the analgesic effects of intravenous magnesium in patients undergoing thoracic surgery. Randomised clinical trials (RCTs) were systematically identified from MEDLINE, EMBASE, Google Scholar and the Cochrane Library from inception to May 1st, 2023. The primary outcome was the effect of intravenous magnesium on the severity of postoperative pain at 24 hours following surgery, while the secondary outcomes included association between intravenous magnesium and pain severity at other time points, morphine consumption, and haemodynamic changes. Meta-analysis of seven RCTs published between 2007 and 2019, involving 549 adults, showed no correlation between magnesium and pain scores at 1-4 (standardized mean difference [SMD]=-0.06; p=0.58), 8-12 (SMD=-0.09; p=0.58), 24 (SMD=-0.16; p=0.42), and 48 (SMD=-0.27; p=0.09) hours post-surgery. Perioperative magnesium resulted in lower equivalent morphine consumption at 24 hours post-surgery (mean difference [MD]=-25.22 mg; p=0.04) and no effect at 48 hours (MD=-4.46 mg; p=0.19). Magnesium decreased heart rate (MD = -5.31 beats/min; p=0.0002) after tracheal intubation or after surgery, but had no effect on postoperative blood pressure (MD=-6.25 mmHg; p=0.11). There was a significantly higher concentration of magnesium in the magnesium group compared with that in the placebo group (MD = 0.91 mg/dL; p<0.00001). This meta-analysis provides evidence supporting perioperative magnesium as an analgesic adjuvant at 24 hours following thoracic surgery, but no opioid-sparing effect at 48 hours post-surgery. The severity of postoperative pain did not significantly differ between any of the postoperative time points, irrespective of magnesium. Further research on perioperative magnesium in various surgical settings is needed.

BACKGROUND: Nipah virus is a zoonotic paramyxovirus responsible for disease outbreaks with high fatality rates in south and southeast Asia. However, knowledge of the potential geographical extent and risk patterns of the virus is poor. We aimed to establish an integrated spatiotemporal and phylogenetic database of Nipah virus infections in humans and animals across south and southeast Asia. METHODS: In this geospatial modelling analysis, we developed an integrated database containing information on the distribution of Nipah virus infections in humans and animals from 1998 to 2021. We conducted phylodynamic analysis to examine the evolution and migration pathways of the virus and meta-analyses to estimate the adjusted case-fatality rate. We used two boosted regression tree models to identify the potential ecological drivers of Nipah virus occurrences in spillover events and endemic areas, and mapped potential risk areas for Nipah virus endemicity. FINDINGS: 749 people and eight bat species across nine countries were documented as being infected with Nipah virus. On the basis of 66 complete genomes of the virus, we identified two clades-the Bangladesh clade and the Malaysia clade-with the time of the most recent common ancestor estimated to be 1863. Adjusted case-fatality rates varied widely between countries and were higher for the Bangladesh clade than for the Malaysia clade. Multivariable meta-regression analysis revealed significant relationships between case-fatality rate estimates and viral clade (p=0·0021), source country (p=0·016), proportion of male patients (p=0·036), and travel time to health-care facilities (p=0·036). Temperature-related bioclimate variables and the probability of occurrence of Pteropus medius were important contributors to both the spillover and the endemic infection models. INTERPRETATION: The suitable niches for Nipah virus are more extensive than previously reported. Future surveillance efforts should focus on high-risk areas informed by updated projections. Specifically, intensifying zoonotic surveillance efforts, enhancing laboratory testing capacity, and implementing public health education in projected high-risk areas where no human cases have been reported to date will be crucial. Additionally, strengthening wildlife surveillance and investigating potential modes of transmission in regions with documented human cases is needed. BACKGROUND: Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a chronic interstitial lung disease characterized by fibroblast proliferation and extracellular matrix formation, causing structural damage and lung failure. Stem cell therapy and mesenchymal stem cells-extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs) offer new hope for PF treatment. AIM: To investigate the therapeutic potential of MSC-EVs in alleviating fibrosis, oxidative stress, and immune inflammation in A549 cells and bleomycin (BLM)-induced mouse model. METHODS: The effect of MSC-EVs on A549 cells was assessed by fibrosis markers [collagen I and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), oxidative stress regulators [nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), and inflammatory regulators [nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB) p65, interleukin (IL)-1ß, and IL-2]. Similarly, they were assessed in the lungs of mice where PF was induced by BLM after MSC-EV transfection. MSC-EVs ion PF mice were detected by pathological staining and western blot. Single-cell RNA sequencing was performed to investigate the effects of the MSC-EVs on gene expression profiles of macrophages after modeling in mice. RESULTS: Transforming growth factor (TGF)-ß1 enhanced fibrosis in A549 cells, significantly increasing collagen I and α-SMA levels. Notably, treatment with MSC-EVs demonstrated a remarkable alleviation of these effects. Similarly, the expression of oxidative stress regulators, such as Nrf2 and HO-1, along with inflammatory regulators, including NF-κB p65 and IL-1ß, were mitigated by MSC-EV treatment. Furthermore, in a parallel manner, MSC-EVs exhibited a downregulatory impact on collagen deposition, oxidative stress injuries, and inflammatory-related cytokines in the lungs of mice with PF. Additionally, the mRNA sequencing results suggested that BLM may induce PF in mice by upregulating pulmonary collagen fiber deposition and triggering an immune inflammatory response. The findings collectively highlight the potential therapeutic efficacy of MSC-EVs in ameliorating fibrotic processes, oxidative stress, and inflammatory responses associated with PF. CONCLUSION: MSC-EVs could ameliorate fibrosis in vitro and in vivo by downregulating collagen deposition, oxidative stress, and immune-inflammatory responses.

Background: Troponin (Tn) is of an important biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of myocardial injury and for evaluating the severity of cardiac involvement due to other systemic diseases in children. Unfortunately, high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I (hs-cTnI) specific reference intervals (RIs) are extremely limited. This study aimed to establish a preliminary pediatric hs-cTnI RI for newborns, children, and adolescents in Wuhan, China. Methods: A total of 1,355 healthy participants (1 day to 19 years) were recruited from a cross-sectional study implemented in Wuhan Children's Hospital from September 2022 to August 2023. Serum hs-cTnI levels were detected via the Mindray automated chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer (CL-6000i). Specific serum hs-cTnI RIs were established according to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines. The RIs were defined by the nonparametric median (P50), and 2.5th, 97.5th [P50 (P2.5-P97.5)] intervals. Results: Of the 1,355 pediatric participants, serum hs-cTnI concentrations of 1,332 children were measured. The serum overall P50 and 95% interval range (P2.5-P97.5) of serum hs-cTnI was 0.41 (0.00, 44.31) ng/L. This was higher in males of 0.47 (0.00, 44.90) ng/L than in females of 0.36 (0.00, 44.17) ng/L (P<0.01). Age- and sex-specific differences in hs-cTnI levels were observed. The levels were highly variable in children under 1 year of age (especially in newborns), deriving a P50 (P2.5-P97.5) of 22.06 (1.04, 154.22) ng/L, and gradually narrowed and decreased with increasing age, with a markedly lower established P50 (P2.5-P97.5) of 0.36 (0.00, 2.16) ng/L. However, the levels began to increase slightly at the age of 9-12 years and reached a small peak at the age range of 15 to 18 years in males with 0.71 (0.03, 3.29) ng/L, while females were less affected by puberty. Sex- and age-specific RIs for hs-cTnI were established: 5 age-specific RIs in males, 1 day-1 month: 30.16 (8.67, 171.81) ng/L; >1-12 months: 13.20 (0.63, 61.91) ng/L; >1-15 years: 0.36 (0.00, 1.86) ng/L; >15-18 years: 0.71 (0.03, 3.29) ng/L; >18-19 years: 0.52 (0.00, 1.92) ng/L; and 4 age-specific RIs in females, 1 day-1 month: 43.93 (18.82, 146.38) ng/L; >1-12 months: 5.22 (0.92, 42.54) ng/L; >1-6 years: 0.54 (0.00, 2.74) ng/L; >6-19 years: 0.23 (0.00, 1.56) ng/L. Conclusions: This study preliminarily established age- and sex-specific serum hs-cTnI RIs using the Mindray CL-6000i system in healthy children in Wuhan, China.

BACKGROUND: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) infertility has attracted great attention from researchers due to its high incidence. Numerous studies have shown that Chinese medicine is effective in treating this disease, but there is a wide variety of Chinese medicine therapies available, and there is a lack of comparative evaluation of the efficacy of various Chinese medicine combination therapies in the clinic, which requires further in-depth exploration. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of a combined traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapy for the treatment of infertility with PCOS using network meta-analysis (NMA). METHODS: In PubMed, web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, China Knowledge Network, Wanfang Data, VIP Database, China Biomedical Literature Database (SinoMed) databases, searchs were conducted for information about the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of combined TCM therapy for the treatment of infertility with PCOS. Quality evaluation was performed using the Cochrane 5.3 risk of bias assessment tool, and NMA using Stata 16.0. RESULTS: This study comprised 28 RCTs using 8 combined TCM therapies in total. The results of the NMA showed that moxibustion + herbal, fire acupuncture + herbal, acupuncture + herbal, electroacupuncture + herbal, and acupoint application + herbal improved the clinical pregnancy rate better than acupuncture, herbal, and western medicines monotherapy (P < .05). Additionally, ear point pressure + herbal enema + herbal, acupuncture and moxibustion + herbal, fire acupuncture + herbal, and acupuncture + herbal improved the ovulation rate better than acupuncture, herbal, and western medicines monotherapy (P < .05). Moxibustion + herbal, fire acupuncture + herbal, and acupuncture + herbal are the 3 most effective therapies for improving the clinical pregnancy rate. Fire acupuncture + herbal, acupuncture + herbal, and ear point pressure + herbal enema + herbal are the 3 most effective therapies for improving the ovulation rate. CONCLUSION: The combined TCM therapy demonstrated better efficacy for the treatment of infertility with PCOS compared to acupuncture, herbal, and western medicines monotherapy. However, the optimal treatment therapy varied depending on the outcome indicators. Further large sample, high-quality, and standardized RCTs are needed to verify these findings.

Background: OTUB1, an essential deubiquitinating enzyme, is upregulated in various types of cancer. Previous studies have shown that OTUB1 may be an oncogene in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), but its specific regulatory mechanism remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the mechanism by which OTUB1 and the JAK2/STAT1 signaling pathway co-regulate the growth of GBM. Methods: Using bioinformatics, GBM tissues, and cells, we evaluated the expression and clinical significance of OTUB1 in GBM. Subsequently, we explored the regulatory mechanisms of OTUB1 on malignant behaviors in GBM in vitro and in vivo. In addition, we added the JAK2 inhibitor AZD1480 to explore the regulation of OTUB1 for JAK2/STAT1 pathway in GBM. Results: We found that OTUB1 expression was upregulated in GBM. Silencing OTUB1 promotes apoptosis and cell cycle arrest at G1 phase, inhibiting cell proliferation. Moreover, OTUB1 knockdown effectively inhibited the invasion and migration of GBM cells, and the opposite phenomenon occurred with overexpression. In vivo experiments revealed that OTUB1 knockdown inhibited tumor growth, further emphasizing its crucial role in GBM progression. Mechanistically, we found that OTUB1 was negatively correlated with the JAK2/STAT1 pathway in GBM. The addition of the JAK2 inhibitor AZD1480 significantly reversed the effects of silencing OTUB1 on GBM. Conclusion: Our study reveals a novel mechanism by which OTUB1 inhibits the JAK2/STAT1 signaling pathway. This contributes to a better understanding of OTUB1's role in GBM and provides a potential avenue for targeted therapeutic intervention.

Plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) are among the most damaging pathogens to host plants. Plants can modulate their associated bacteria to cope with nematode infections. The tritrophic plant-nematode-microbe interactions are highly taxa-dependent, resulting in the effectiveness of nematode agents being variable among different host plants. Ficus tikoua is a versatile plant with high application potential for fruits or medicines. In recent years, a few farmers have attempted to cultivate this species in Sichuan, China, where parasitic nematodes are present. We used 16S rRNA genes to explore the effects of nematode parasitism on root-associated bacteria in this species. Our results revealed that nematode infection had effects on both endophytic bacterial communities and rhizosphere communities in F. tikoua roots, but on different levels. The species richness increased in the rhizosphere bacterial communities of infected individuals, but the community composition remained similar as compared with that of healthy individuals. Nematode infection induces a deterministic assembly process in the endophytic bacterial communities of parasitized organs. Significant taxonomic and functional changes were observed in the endophytic communities of root knots. These changes were characterized by the enrichment of nitrogen-fixing bacteria, including Bradyrhizobium, Allorhizobium-Neorhizobium-Pararhizobium-Rhizobium, and nematode-antagonistic bacteria, such as Pseudonocardia, Pseudomonas, Steroidobacter, Rhizobacter, and Ferrovibrio. Our results would help the understanding of the tritrophic plant-nematode-bacterium interactions in host plants other than dominant crops and vegetables and would provide essential information for successful nematode management when F. tikoua were cultivated on large scales.

BACKGROUND: Neuropathic pain (NP) is a challenging health condition owing to its complex nature and associated multiple etiologies. The occurrence of NP involves the abnormal activity of neurons mediated by oxidative stress (OS). Previous research has demonstrated that m6A methylation plays a role in the regulatory pathway of NP. This study aimed to investigate the specific molecular pathways through which m6A methylation modifiers alleviate NP. METHODS: For this purpose, an NO rat model was developed via spared nerve injury (SNI), followed by quantifying the animal's pain assessment via paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) and paw withdrawal latency (PWL). The OS in SNI rats was evaluated by measuring reactive oxygen species, superoxide dismutase, and catalase (CAT) in spinal cord tissues. Moreover, quantitative-real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis were employed for detecting fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) and GPR177 levels, while m6A levels of GPR117 were analyzed via MeRIP. RESULTS: The results indicated an enhanced OS with highly expressed FTO in spinal cord tissue samples, where knocking down Fto effectively relieved NP and OS in SNI rats. Mechanistic investigations revealed that Fto-mediated reduction of Grp177 m6A modification was involved in the WNT5a/TRPV1 axis-mediated OS remission of NP. Moreover, in vitro experiment results indicated that YTHDF2 was an important m6A methylated reading protein for this process. CONCLUSIONS: Fto silencing leads to increased m6A methylation of Grp177 through a YTHDF2-dependent mechanism, resulting in decreased Grp177 stability and ultimately reducing NP in rats by OS suppression.

A Gram-staining-negative, facultative aerobic, motile strain, designated strain ZSDE20T, was isolated from the surface seawater of Qingdao offshore. Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene of strain ZSDE20T, affiliated it to the genus Photobacterium. It was closely related to Photobacterium lutimaris DF-42 T (98.92% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity). Growth occurred at 4-28ºC (optimum 28ºC), pH 1.0-7.0 (optimum 7.0) and in the presence of 1-7% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 3%). The dominant fatty acids were summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c or/and C16:1 ω6c, 34.23%), summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω7c and C18:1 ω6c, 10.36%) and C16:0 (20.05%). The polar lipids of strain ZSDE20T comprised phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, lyso-phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol dimannoside, phosphatidylinositol mannosides and two unknown lipids. The major respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-8 (Q-8). The DNA G + C content of strain ZSDE20T was 45.6 mol%. Average nucleotide identity (ANI) values between ZSDE20T and its reference species were lower than the threshold for species delineation (95-96%); in silico DNA-DNA hybridization further showed that strain ZSDE20T had less than 70% similarity to its relatives. Based on the polyphasic evidences, strain ZSDE20T is proposed as representing a novel species of the genus Photobacterium, for which the name Photobacterium pectinilyticum sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is ZSDE20T (= MCCC 1K06283T = KCTC 82885 T).

The orientation map is one of the most well-studied functional maps of the visual cortex. However, results from the literature are of different qualities. Clear boundaries among different orientation domains and blurred uncertain distinctions were shown in different studies. These unclear imaging results will lead to an inaccuracy in depicting cortical structures, and the lack of consideration in experimental design will also lead to biased depictions of the cortical features. How we accurately define orientation domains will impact the entire field of research. In this study, we test how spatial frequency (SF), stimulus size, location, chromatic, and data processing methods affect the orientation functional maps (including a large area of dorsal V4, and parts of dorsal V1) acquired by intrinsic signal optical imaging. Our results indicate that, for large imaging fields, large grating stimuli with mixed SF components should be considered to acquire the orientation map. A diffusion model image enhancement based on the difference map could further improve the map quality. In addition, the similar outcomes of achromatic and chromatic gratings indicate two alternative types of afferents from LGN, pooling in V1 to generate cue-invariant orientation selectivity.

Gut microbiota-derived extracellular vesicles (mEVs) are reported to regulate inflammatory response by delivering bacterial products into host cells. The complement receptor of the immunoglobulin superfamily macrophages (CRIg+ Mφ) could clear invading bacteria and their derivatives. Here, we investigate the role of CRIg+ Mφ and the mechanism by which mEVs regulate intestinal inflammation. We found that it is exacerbated in IBD patients and colitis mice by mEVs' leakage from disturbed gut microbiota, enriching microbial DNA in the intestinal mucosa. CRIg+ Mφ significantly decrease in IBD patients, allowing the spread of mEVs into the mucosa. The microbial DNA within mEVs is the key trigger for inflammation and barrier function damage. The cGAS/STING pathway is crucial in mEVs-mediated inflammatory injury. Blocking cGAS/STING signaling effectively alleviates inflammation caused by mEVs leakage and CRIg+ Mφ deficiency. Microbial DNA-containing mEVs, along with CRIg+ Mφ deficiency, stimulate inflammation in IBD, with the cGAS/STING pathway playing a crucial role.

Lung cancer is the malignant tumor with the highest incidence and mortality rate worldwide. For lung adenocarcinoma, identifying specific gene mutations, fusions, and giving corresponding targeted drugs can greatly improve the survival time of the patients. Among them, anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) fusion occurs in 3%-7% of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In clinical practice, a variety of detection methods can be used to determine the ALK fusion status, but false negative test results are possible. This paper retrospectively analyzed the diagnosis and treatment of a patient with lung adenocarcinoma, judged the ALK fusion status by various detection methods. Among them, immunohistochemistry (IHC)(Ventana D5F3), RNA based next-generation sequencing (RNA-based NGS) confirmed positive echinoderm microtubule associated protein like 4 (EML4)-ALK fusion, while DNA-based NGS was negative. This paper analyzed the detection methods of ALK fusion, in order to clarify which detection method is the most accurate and simple to choose in different clinical cases and guide the subsequent treatment.

We investigated the risks of post-acute and chronic adverse kidney outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the pediatric population via a retrospective cohort study using data from the RECOVER program. We included 1,864,637 children and adolescents under 21 from 19 children's hospitals and health institutions in the US with at least six months of follow-up time between March 2020 and May 2023. We divided the patients into three strata: patients with pre-existing chronic kidney disease (CKD), patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) during the acute phase (within 28 days) of SARS-CoV-2 infection, and patients without pre-existing CKD or AKI. We defined a set of adverse kidney outcomes for each stratum and examined the outcomes within the post-acute and chronic phases after SARS-CoV-2 infection. In each stratum, compared with the non-infected group, patients with COVID-19 had a higher risk of adverse kidney outcomes. For patients without pre-existing CKD, there were increased risks of CKD stage 2+ (HR 1.20; 95% CI: 1.13-1.28) and CKD stage 3+ (HR 1.35; 95% CI: 1.15-1.59) during the post-acute phase (28 days to 365 days) after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Within the post-acute phase of SARS-CoV-2 infection, children and adolescents with pre-existing CKD and those who experienced AKI were at increased risk of progression to a composite outcome defined by at least 50% decline in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), eGFR <15 mL/min/1.73m2, End Stage Kidney Disease diagnosis, dialysis, or transplant.

Introduction: Although programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitor plus chemotherapy regimen is a promising strategy for malignant tumors, it can induce significant immune-related adverse events, such as immune-related pneumonitis. Here, we report the first case of lethal immune-related pneumonitis in an Asian patient receiving anti-PD-L1 treatment. Case Presentation: A 68-year-old man was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and interstitial pneumonia. After his pulmonary infection was relieved by comprehensive treatment, the patient received first-line treatment with durvalumab plus etoposide and carboplatin. Two weeks after starting durvalumab treatment, the patient had chest pain and shortness of breath. He was diagnosed with immune-induced pneumonia and treated with methylprednisolone, cefoperazone, and sulbactam, followed by oxygen and pirfenidone. Oxygen partial pressure decreased to 58 mm Hg within next the 4 days and laboratory assessment suggested cytokine storm. The patient underwent 2 plasma exchanges, one double filtration plasmapheresis and oxygen saturation decreased continuously. The patient died 1 month after durvalumab treatment. Conclusion: Immune-related pneumonitis induced by PD-L1 inhibitors is rare but life-threatening. Infection should be ruled out before starting immunotherapy.

RNA helicase DHX9 is essential for genome stability by resolving aberrant R-loops. However, its regulatory mechanisms remain unclear. Here we show that SUMOylation at lysine 120 (K120) is crucial for DHX9 function. Preventing SUMOylation at K120 leads to R-loop dysregulation, increased DNA damage, and cell death. Cells expressing DHX9 K120R mutant which cannot be SUMOylated are more sensitive to genotoxic agents and this sensitivity is mitigated by RNase H overexpression. Unlike the mutant, wild-type DHX9 interacts with R-loop-associated proteins such as PARP1 and DDX21 via SUMO-interacting motifs. Fusion of SUMO2 to the DHX9 K120R mutant enhances its association with these proteins, reduces R-loop accumulation, and alleviates survival defects of DHX9 K120R. Our findings highlight the critical role of DHX9 SUMOylation in maintaining genome stability by regulating protein interactions necessary for R-loop balance.

The selective separation of small molecules at the sub-nanometer scale has broad application prospects in the field, such as energy, catalysis, and separation. Conventional polymeric membrane materials (e.g., nanofiltration membranes) for sub-nanometer scale separations face challenges, such as inhomogeneous channel sizes and unstable pore structures. Combining polymers with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which possess uniform and intrinsic pore structures, may overcome this limitation. This combination has resulted in three distinct types of membranes: MOF polycrystalline membranes, mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs), and thin-film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes. However, their effectiveness is hindered by the limited regulation of the surface properties and growth of MOFs and their poor interfacial compatibility. The main issues in preparing MOF polycrystalline membranes are the uncontrollable growth of MOFs and the poor adhesion between MOFs and the substrate. Here, polymers could serve as a simple and precise tool for regulating the growth and surface functionalities of MOFs while enhancing their adhesion to the substrate. For MOF mixed-matrix membranes, the primary challenge is the poor interfacial compatibility between polymers and MOFs. Strategies for the mutual modification of MOFs and polymers to enhance their interfacial compatibility are introduced. For TFN membranes, the challenges include the difficulty in controlling the growth of the polymer selective layer and the performance limitations caused by the "trade-off" effect. MOFs can modulate the formation process of the polymer selective layer and establish transport channels within the polymer matrix to overcome the "trade-off" effect limitations. This review focuses on the mechanisms of synergistic construction of polymer-MOF membranes and their structure-nanofiltration performance relationships, which have not been sufficiently addressed in the past.

Colorectal cancer is a prevalent malignancy, with advanced and metastatic forms exhibiting poor treatment outcomes and high relapse rates. To enhance patient outcomes, a comprehensive understanding of the pathophysiological processes and the development of targeted therapies are imperative. The high heterogeneity of colorectal cancer demands precise and personalized treatment strategies. Colorectal cancer organoids, a three-dimensional in vitro model, have emerged as a valuable tool for replicating tumor biology and exhibit promise in scientific research, disease modeling, drug screening, and personalized medicine. In this review, we present an overview of colorectal cancer organoids and explore their applications in research and personalized medicine, while also discussing potential future developments in this field.
