[Surgery for cancer of proximal regions of the rectum].

The results of treatment of 1652 patients, operated for proximal cancer recti, were presented. Resectability had constituted (84.0 +/- 0.9)%. In (95.7 +/- 0.5)% patients a primarily-restoration operations were accomplished. In (76.0 +/- 1.1)% patients the standard operations were performed, in (8.9 +/- 0.8)%--the extended operations, in (11.5 +/- 0.9)%--combined and in (5.5 +/- 0.6)%--simultant. All the patients after the simultant operations performance had survived. Eligibility of application of the operation methods, technical manipulations and devices, elaborated in the clinic, for the treatment of this group of patients was proved.

[Radical combined colonic resection for cancer recurrence]. / Radikal'naia kombinirovannaia rezektsiia tolstoi kishki po povodu retsidiva raka.

Experience of reoperative radical combined colonic resection for colonic cancer in 9 patients was presented. There were no complications, nor mortality. The preoperative radiation therapy and chemotherapy conduction had permitted to create an optimal conditions for the surgical intervention performance, which promoted the patients life span increase and improved its quality significantly.

[Surgical treatment of patients with synchronous cancer of the digestive system]. / Khirurgicheskoe lechenie bol'nykh s sinkhronnym rakom pishchevaritel'nogo kanala.

The combined primarily-restorational operations were performed in 21 patient for primarily-multiple synchronous cancer of the gut. In 28.5% of patients the complicated course of the disease was noted. Postoperative complications had occurred in 38% of patients, general postoperative mortality was 4.7%. The five-year survival index was 88.6%, the life span was 4.49 yrs on average.

[Use of combined primary-reconstructive resection in complicated and widely spread colonic cancer]. / Vypolnenie kombinirovannoi pervichno-vosstanovitel'noi rezektsii po povodu oslozhnennogo i rasprostranennogo raka tolstoi kishki.

The combined primary-reconstructive operation for complicated and prevalent cancer of colon was conducted in 65 patients with several segments resection. Postoperative complications occurred in 40% of patients, overall postoperative mortality constituted 18.4%. Five-year life span constituted 40% (3.29 +/- 0.25) years on average.

The study was concerned with the short- and long-term results of 80 radical and 27 palliative combined resections and hemicolectomy for colonic cancer involving other organs or accompanied by solitary distant metastases. Tumor elements were morphologically identified in other resected organs (53.3%). 15.9% of surgical patients died within short periods after operation. Colon was anastomosed immediately in 97 patients (90.7%), cecostomy being performed in two of them shortly after operation. Five--year survival was 53.5% in radically--operated patients and 31.6%--in cases of palliative treatment.

[Combination primary restorative surgical interventions in cancer of the rectum in women]. / Kombinirovannye pervichno-vosstanovitel'nye khirurgicheskie vmeshatel'stva pri rake priamoi kishki u zhenshchin.

In the past 15 years, 136 combined operations in women with locally disseminated rectal cancer were performed. Eighty-two (60.3%) operations were primary-restorative. After them, the lethality was 2.9%, 3- and 5-year survival--64 and 40%, respectively. The performance of the combined sphincter-preserving operations is expedient, despite the spreading of the primary tumour.
