RESUMO

The paper proposes to use combinations of two algorithms for the on-line prediction of the termination times of layer depositions in the case of complex optical coatings with large numbers of layers with significantly different layer thicknesses. Notch filters with very thin and thick coating layers are considered as examples of coatings where such combinations of algorithms can be useful. Computational manufacturing experiments are used to estimate expected levels of thickness errors and the strength of the error self-compensation effect for various notch filter designs. It is shown that the estimates obtained can be used to select the optimal combination of the considered algorithms.

RESUMO

The paper proposes an approach for the pre-production selection of the most promising combination of a monochromatic monitoring strategy and a monitoring algorithm used for predicting termination of layer deposition. The approach is based on the previously introduced estimate of the strength of the expected error self-compensation effect and the new estimate, to the best of our knowledge, of the strength of the cumulative effect of thickness error growth presented in this paper. The application of the proposed approach is demonstrated using computational manufacturing experiments with various types of optical coating designs.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Measurement of an- hippocampal area or volume is useful in clinical practice as a supportive aid for diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. Since it is time-consuming and not simple, it is not being used very often. We present a simplified protocol for hippocampal atrophy evaluation based on a single optimal slice in Alzheimer's disease. METHODS: We defined a single optimal slice for hippocampal measurement on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at the plane where the amygdala disappears and only the hippocampus is present. We compared an absolute area and volume of the hippocampus on this optimal slice between 40 patients with Alzheimer disease and 40 age-, education- and gender-mateched elderly controls. Furthermore, we compared these results with those relative to the size of the brain or the skull: the area of the optimal slice normalized to the area of the brain at anterior commissure and the volume of the hippocampus normalized to the total intracranial volume. RESULTS: Hippocampal areas on the single optimal slice and hippocampal volumes on the left and right in the control group were significantly higher than those in the AD group. Normalized hippocampal areas and volumes on the left and right in the control group were significantly higher compared to the AD group. Absolute hippocampal areas and volumes did not significantly differ from corresponding normalized hippocampal areas as well as normalized hippocampal volumes using comparisons of areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves. CONCLUSION: The hippocampal area on the well-defined optimal slice of brain MRI can reliably substitute a complicated measurement of the hippocampal volume. Surprisingly, brain or skull normalization of these variables does not add any incremental differentiation between Alzheimer disease patients and controls or give better results.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: The optimal indicators and adequate criteria for the quantitative assessment of hearing loss excess risk with noise exposure above 80 dBA is urgently needed determination. METHODS: The technology for calculating hearing thresholds according to the model of the third edition of the ISO 1999.3:2013 standard, depending on gender, age, length of service and noise exposure, based on MSExcell tables, for population percentiles 1÷99% in 1% steps has been developed. Rules for selecting optimal indicators and criteria for hearing loss for the early signs of hearing loss excess risk and the excess risk of occupational noise-induced hearing loss have been developed. RESULT: The excess risk of hearing loss for men on the age, length of service and the level of noise exposure dependences are calculated. The optimal indicators and criteria for hearing loss to identify early signs of the effect of noise on the hearing organ and to calculate the excess risk of hearing loss when exposed to noise are identified. CONCLUSIONS: Calculated by the average binaural hearing threshold at frequencies of 0.5; 1.0; 2.0 and 3.0 kHz with an 30 dB assessment criterion excess risk most adequately solves the risk of occupational hearing loss determining problem. For the determine of early signs of hearing loss excess risk the average binaural threshold for hearing at frequencies of 4 and 6 kHz with an assessment criterion of 20 dB is useful better.

RESUMO

Recently, the studies search possibilities to visualize and objectify sensory disorders in polyneuropathy caused by vibration. Special attention is paid on studies of injuried structures responsible for temperature and pain sensitivity. Examination covered 92 patients with vibration disease, aged 34 to 73 years. Methods used are: pallesthesiometry, quantitative sensory tests, questionnaires and s 'cales of pain (visual analog scale (VAS) of pain, Pain-Detect, MPQ DN-, HADS). Correlation was found between.temperature, pain thresholds and VAS and pallesthesiometry parameters. The obtained results analysis indicates formation distal polyneuropathy syndrome of upper limbs with concomitant pain during vibration disease.

RESUMO

The studies revealed that evaluation of actual health disorders in people exposed to vibration requires up-to-date methodology, elaboration of new criteria that justify prophylactic measures. Taking into account a concept of occupational risk, scientists should have new approaches to hygienic regulation of general vibration in connection with load, levels, direction, quota of low-frequency components in total spectrum of mechanical oscillations.
