RESUMO

Accumulation of Al, As, B, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Pb, S, Se, Si, Sr, and Zn was analyzed in gills, liver, gonads, and muscle of European chub (Squalius cephalus), Cactus roach (Rutilus virgo), and pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) from Zlatar reservoir (Serbia) using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). The highest concentrations of Cu in liver as well as Ba, Ca, Fe, Mn, Na, P, and Sr in gills were detected in all fish species, while the lowest concentrations of Cu, Fe, Mn, Na, and Zn were detected in muscle. Pikeperch had significantly lower concentrations of Ba in all tissues compared to the other species, as well as Fe, P, and Sr in muscle, K, Mg, Mn, Sr, and Zn in gills, and Fe in gonads. European chub had significantly higher concentrations of Ca, Cu, and Zn in muscle, Cu in liver, and Cr and Cu in gonads compared to Cactus roach and pikeperch. Cd concentration in one individual of Cactus roach exceeded the maximum allowed concentration. The muscle was exposed to the lowest pressure of metal pollution in all species, and European chub accumulated more metals compared to the other species. There is no significant health risk due to consumption of investigated species. A major hazard index (HI) contributor in all species was Hg. According to the target carcinogenic risk factor (TR), target hazard quotient (THQ), and HI, men are under lower health risk compared to the women. The TR and THQ for As, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, and Zn as well as HI values were higher for European chub compared to the other species. On the other hand, THQ for Hg was highest for pikeperch.

RESUMO

The effects of physical factors on fish catch in the Serbian part of the Danube River were studied for period of six decades. The data on total catch for the Danube River from river kilometre 845 to river kilometre 1433 were collected from Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, while water level and water temperature data were collected from 16 water gauge stations along the investigated part of the Danube River for the period 1948-2009. Cross-correlation functions have been used to analyse the functional connection between Danube water level, water temperature and fish catch while ARMA model which combines cyclic (deterministic) and random (stochastic) components of the analysed sequences was used for the forecasts. The cross-correlation function showed negative correlation between water level and temperature as well as between water temperature and catch and positive correlation between water level and catch. The Danube water level and catch were coherent at the periods of 2.06, 4.13, 6.2, 10.33, 20.66years, while the cross correlation function between these time series did not show phase lag. The results of reconstruction and forecast of water level, temperature, and catch of fish in the Danube River, obtained by summing the cyclic and stochastic components, was used for the forecast till 2029. In 2016, seven years after, the initial forecasts were made, validity of the model was checked by obtaining data for water temperature, water level and fish catch in the Danube River for the period 2010-2015. Model gave the best prediction for water temperature; average standard error was 1.6 times higher for predicted value than for model value while for fish catch and water level they were 1.96 and 4.97, respectively. Methods used in this work could be powerful tool for prediction of fish catch and serve as the basis for better fisheries management.

RESUMO

Introduction: Glomus tumor is a neuromyoarterial tumor. It is a rare tumor which accounts for about 2% of all hand tumors. The diagnosis is based on the triad of symptoms, clinical examination which includes three tests, magnetic resonance imaging, and ultrasound imaging. The most common treatment is surgical excision, using transungual or lateral subperiosteal approach. Sclerotherapy and radiotherapy may be the treatments of choice, but they are less effective. The recurrence rate is high from 5% to 50%. Case Outline: We diagnosed a glomus tumor of 1 cm in diameter in the distal phalanx of the fourth finger of the right hand in a 30-year-old woman. She had been visiting different physicians for more than two years and had been variously diagnosed. We performed a biopsy of the tumor, which was bleeding profusely during the procedure. Upon biopsy results, the tumor was excised with transungual approach. Two and a half months after the procedure the patient was feeling well. Conclusion: There should be higher awareness of this tumor in order to diagnose it more easily and treat it accordingly, and thus alleviate the severe pain which the tumor causes. When it is considered as the possible cause of the lesion, the diagnosing is easier and treatment is immediate.

RESUMO

The multidisciplinary socio-economic study of fisheries in the bordering part of the Danube River between Serbia and Croatia (at the following sites: Apatin, Backa Palanka, Backo Novo Selo, Bezdan, and Sombor) that was performed in order to investigate various aspects of fish resource utilization (management, policy of protection and exploitation of freshwater fishery resources, present fisheries legislation, catch statistics), was realized during 2004 and 2005. Data were collected via survey with a structured interview. Socio-economic circumstances, together with ecological factors, have had an influence on the fish stock and number of commercial fishermen. Awareness of the occurring problems, both economic and ecological ones, is apparent, regardless of whether it is assessed in the field of commercial or recreational fishing. Fishery sector in Serbia is in a prolonged process of transition, with the enforcement of fishing regulations, but also the lack of control that leaves space for illegal commercial fishing. The statements, consciousness, experience and behavior of commercial fishermen represent a good basis for planning the sustainable development of fishing in this section of the Danube River.
