[Interval cancers of the breast in general practice--experiences in 10 years of observation]. / Intervallkarzinome der Mamma in der Praxis--Erfahrungen in 10jähriger Beobachtungszeit.

Of 288 carcinomas, 51 carcinoma developed between two mammography controls during the last 10 years. These were classified according to time, growth, TNM Stage age and histological diagnosis. [Practical experiences with grid mammography in everyday practice]. / Praktische Erfahrungen mit der Rastermammographie in der alltäglichen Praxis.

A one-year experience with the soft tissue grid mammographic technique (Siemens) and film screen combinations (Kodak) in 2290 patients 1982 is analysed. A comparison of the quality of mammograms between conventional technique und soft tissue grid technique with film screen combinations (NMB + MA5 films, Kodak) is made. The optimal quality of grid mammograms and the less radiation dose, especially in large breasts, is achieved with the NMB film (Kodak).

[Treatment of malignant and premalignant diseases of the breast by subcutaneous mastectomy with simultaneous augmentation mammoplasty (author's transl)]. / Die Behandlung maligner und präkanzeröser Prozesse der Mamma durch subkutane Mastektomie mit gleichzeitiger Augmentation.

Among 6 patients with small intra-ductal carcinomas of the breast two had local recurrences of cancer following unilateral subcutaneous mastectomy. We therefore limit subcutaneous mastectomy to pre-cancerous conditions and then use a bilateral subcutaneous mastectomy with augmentation mammoplasty. Our methods and results in 28 cases are described. We think that the removal of approximately 95% of the breast tissue is enough assurance to the patient that no cancer will develop later. The patients are happy with the cosmetic results and abandon their cancerophobia generated by long term diagnostic observation.
