RESUMO

The parameters of additional treatment of biologically pure antibiotic production sewage in winter were studied on a pilot model of a 3.72 m3 biopond with higher aquatic plants (Phragmites communis). Sufficiently high efficiency of the process of possible provision of the required sewage quality were shown. A mathematical model of the process based on the first order reaction equation was developed. Its application was estimated and the values of the equation constants were measured.

RESUMO

Efficiency of decreasing sewage contamination was estimated under laboratory conditions by the Coli index in additional treatment of antibiotic production sewage in bioponds with higher aquatic plants. It was shown that the sewage decontamination in summer was intensive due to vital activity of complex biocenosis of the higher aquatic plants and algae and reached the required levels. This allowed to use much lower quantities of the reagents in chlorination of water for circulating water supply.

RESUMO

The kinetics of formaldehyde biodegradation by Pseudomonas fluorescens was studied under the conditions of batch cultivation. The process was shown to depend on the substrate, biomass and metabolites concentrations. Their combined action is satisfactorily described by the equation (formula; see text) where Vmax = 3.23 g/g/h, Ks = 2.52 g/l and Kx = 10.2 g/l. The equation is adequate as was demonstrated in experiments in which the organism was cultivated under the continuous conditions on the formaldehyde-containing sewage from the production of antibiotics.

RESUMO

The strain of Pseudomonas fluorescens was isolated from active ooze and was capable of growth on a medium containing 100 mg/litre of formaldehyde. As a result of stepwise selection, a variant of Ps. fluorescens 27 oxidizing 250 mg/litre of formaldehyde was obtained. It differed from the parent strain in cultural, morphological, and biochemical properties.
