The experiments on rats show that the 4-month elevated air dryness has no impact on body accumulation of 239Pu but causes more distinct forms of bronchitis and interstitial pneumonia combined with the strain in medullary hemopoiesis and reactivity intensification of pulmonary and B-system immunity. Under prolonged effect of both factors a breakdown in fully adequate immune response can occur.

The method of the paraffin or celloidin-paraffin sections and histoautoradiogram accelerated staining with Harris haematoxylin is suggested. The quality of staining with this haematoxylin of all organs and tissues of rats sacrificed under the ether narcosis or after natural death is evaluated. All the histoautoradiogram treatment (exposition, development, fixation, washing and staining) is being carried out in the same cassette this excluding the possibility of the photolayer and section damage. Harris haematoxylin enables the elective nuclear staining and this allows, without detriment to the quality, using the cassette method of staining with this reagent in laboratories with a large bulk of work and recommending it for elaboration of the technical standards.

The histoautoradiographic study has demonstrated that during the first 24 hours following the administration, plutonium is distributed diffusely and in the form of aggregates corresponding to reticular cells of marginal and brain sinuses. In addition, after 7 days on, one could observe phagocytosis of 239Pu particles and aggregates by the interdigiting reticular cells and migration thereof into follicle region where the cooperative relations occur between T- and B-lymphocytes. The absorbed radiation dose in the interdigiting cells is estimated.

A study was made of the delayed effects of mixed exposure to 137Cs-gamma-radiation (a single exposure) and 239Pu (a single intravenous injection) in doses approximating optimal blastomogenic ones. The results are calculated per 1 cGy of weighted mean dose within the body with regard for RBE (1 cSv), per cent of osteosarcomas (per 1 cGy in endosteum and periosteum). A conclusion is made of a complete summation of main biological effects per 1 cSv of the dose absorbed.
