A revision of the Australian species of the genus Melobasis Laporte & Gory 1837 (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), Part 3 (Revision of the azureipennis, cupricollis, iridicolor and melanura species groups).

This is the third part of a revision of the Australian members of the genus Melobasis Laporte & Gory 1837 and revises the species of the azureipennis, cupricollis, iridicolor and melanura species groups. 19 new species are described: M. adamsi sp. n., M. adusta sp. n., M. aureoviridis sp. n., M. aureovittata sp. n., M. breviantennatus sp. n., M. calama sp. n., M. confundo sp. n., M. cuspidata sp. n., M. dentata sp. n., M. edungalbensis sp. n., M. fritzbrechteli sp. n., M. imitator sp. n., M. incisa sp. n., M. incongruens sp. n., M. macqueeni sp. n., M. oculata sp. n., M. ordinata sp. n., M. rufoviolacea sp. n., M. tricolor sp. n. The following new synonymies are proposed: M. abigailae Turner & Hawkeswood, 2009 is synonymised with M. cupricollis Kerremans, 1898; M. epistomalis Obenberger, 1942 is synonymised with M. costata Macleay, 1872; M. macleayana Obenberger, 1930 is synonymised with M. suturalis Thomson, 1879; M. viridiobscura Thomson, 1879 is synonymised with M. suturalis Thomson, 1879. The following changes of status are proposed: M. azureipennis Macleay, 1872 and M. aureipennis Thomson, 1879 are removed from synonymy with M. cyaneipennis Boheman, 1858, which is transferred to the genus Nesotrinchus Obenberger; M. suturalis Thomson, 1879 is removed from synonymy with M. apicalis Macleay, 1872; M. viridiobscura Thomson, 1879 is removed from synonymy with M. obscurella Thomson, 1879.

The genome sequence of a darkling beetle, Lagria hirta (Linnaeus, 1758).

We present a genome assembly from an individual male Lagria hirta (darkling beetle; Arthropoda; Insecta; Coleoptera; Tenebrionidae). The genome sequence is 336.8 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 12 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X and Y sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 16.12 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 12,850protein coding genes.

A review of the species of Anaspis (s. str.) similar to A. nigripes Brisout and A. apfelbecki Schilsky, with the description of three new species (Coleoptera: Scraptiidae).

Three new species are described: A. cooteri sp. n. (from China), A. curva sp. n. (from China), A. bertrami sp. n. (from Lebanon). A dichotomous key is provided to distinguish the new species from their most similar known species, namely: A. apfelbecki Schilsky, A. emarginata Schilsky, A. graeca Schilsky, A. koenigi Schilsky, A. marseuli Csiki, A. mongolica Ermisch, A. nigripes Brisout de Barneville.

This is the second part of a revision of the Australian members of the genus Melobasis Laporte Gory 1837 and revises the species of the nervosa species group.13 new species and subspecies are described: M. angustecostata angustecostata ssp. n., M. angustecostata subacuta ssp. n., M. barkeri sp. n., M. brevimaculata sp. n., M. breviserrata sp. n., M. cupreovittata queenslandica ssp. n., M. cupreovittata westralica ssp. n., M. dissimilis sp. n., M. fortipunctata sp. n., M. latecostata sp. n., M. planithorax sp. n., M. soror basicostata ssp. n., M. vertebralis cuneata ssp. n. The following new synonymies are proposed: M. bicolor Blackburn is synonymised with M. rubromarginata Saunders; M. costata Thomson is synonymised with M. nervosa (Boisduval); M. semistriata Blackburn is synonymised with M. viridiceps Saunders; M. viridisterna Carter is synonymised with M. sordida Blackburn; M. victoriae Obenberger is synonymised with M. viridiceps Saunders. The following changes of status are proposed: M. costipennis Kerremans is removed from synonymy with M. lathami (Laporte Gory); M. costata Thomson is removed from synonymy with M. interstitialis Blackburn; M. rubromarginata Saunders is removed from synonymy with M. lathami (Laporte Gory); M. bicolor Blackburn is removed from synonymy with M. lathami (Laporte Gory); M. sordida Blackburn is removed from synonymy with M. simplex Germar; M. soror Blackburn is removed from synonymy with M. lathami (Laporte Gory).

Two new species of Ankareus Kerremans (Coleoptera: Buprestidae: Haplostethinae) from southern Africa.

Two new species of Ankareus, A. bellamyi sp. nov. and A. bilyi sp. nov. (Coleoptera: Buprestidae: Haplostethinae) are described from southern Africa, and distinguished from the other species of Ankareus and Mastogenius known from Africa and Arabia.

A new species of Lamprodila (Ovalisia Kerremans, 1900) (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) from Sulawesi, Indonesia.

There have been a number of fairly recent papers dealing with Ovalisia Kerremans, 1900 under different generic or subgeneric names: Bílý (1993, as Pagdeniella Théry, 1935; 1997, as Ovalisia), Bílý et al. (2009, as Lamprodila (Ovalisia), Holynski (2000, 2011a, 2011b, as Ovalisia). Holynski (2011a, 2011b) has a number of misgivings over using the name Lamprodila Motschulsky 1860 for the genus containing the subgenus Ovalisia Kerremans, however as there does not appear to be any objective way to confirm or refute Holynski's views concerning Motschulsky's intentions when he coined the name Lamprodila, I choose to follow the recent catalogues of Kubán 2006 and Bellamy 2008 who treat Ovalisia Kerremans, 1900 as a subgenus of Lamprodila.

A new species of Melobasina (Ulaikoilia Bílý & Kubán) (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) from Sulawesi.

A new species Melobasina (Ulaikoilia) jennyae sp. n. (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) is described from Sulawesi, Indonesia. A key is provided to distinguish the new species from the other two known species.
