RESUMO

Compared to conventional heating techniques, the carbon carrier-based rapid Joule heating (CJH) method is a new class of technologies that offer significantly higher heating rates and ultra-high temperatures. Over the past few decades, CJH technology has spawned several techniques with similar principles for different application scenarios, including ultra-fast high temperature sintering (UHS), carbon thermal shock (CTS), and flash Joule heating (FJH), which have been widely used in material preparation research studies. Functional nanomaterials are a popular direction of research today, mainly including nanometallic materials, nanosilica materials, nanoceramic materials and nanocarbon materials. These materials exhibit unique physical, chemical, and biological properties, including a high specific surface area, strength, thermal stability, and biocompatibility, making them ideal for diverse applications across various fields. The CJH method is a remarkable approach to producing functional nanomaterials that has attracted attention for its significant advantages. This paper aims to delve into the fundamental principles of CJH and elucidate the efficient preparation of functional nanomaterials with superior properties using this technique. The paper is organized into three sections, each dedicated to introducing the process and characteristics of CJH technology for the preparation of three distinct material types: carbon-based nanomaterials, inorganic non-metallic materials, and metallic materials. We discuss the distinctions and merits of the CJH method compared to alternative techniques in the preparation of these materials, along with a thorough examination of their properties. Furthermore, the potential applications of these materials are highlighted. In conclusion, this paper concludes with a discussion on the future research trends and development prospects of CJH technology.

Biofuel production from waste cooking oil (WCO) offers an alternative to fossil fuels, especially for high-value bio-jet fuel. However, this industry is hindered by informal recyclers who covertly divert large amounts of WCO to illegal gutter oil production. Investigating the dynamic evolution of stakeholder behavior will help explore solutions. Thus, this study presents a tripartite evolutionary game model that includes the government, formal recyclers, and informal recyclers, aims to redesign the government intervention strategy to promote the directional flow of WCO from restaurant trash cans to bio-jet fuel production. We find that the evolutionary game model exists eight possible evolutionary stability strategies (ESSs), and the choice of each ESS depends mainly on the trade-off between costs and revenues for each stakeholder. The numerical study results reveal that formal recyclers are driven to carry out technological innovation by government support, profiting from bio-aviation kerosene products, and income from carbon emission reduction. These factors also have an indirect impact on the transformation of informal recyclers. Therefore, the government should provide adequate support for technological innovation to formal recyclers and increase their profitability of products to enable them to actively implement innovative strategies. This can be achieved by expanding the sales channels of bio-jet fuel products, implementing patent protection measures, and improving the carbon reduction trading mechanism. Furthermore, the government's high tax rate on formal recyclers and the significant profits earned by informal recyclers through illegal gutter oil production may dissuade them from transitioning their businesses. Above findings are in line with the actual issues of WCO recycling and provide a new dynamic decision-making method for enterprises and government managers.

Surface defect passivation and carrier injection regulation have emerged as effective strategies for enhancing the performance of perovskite light-emitting diodes (Pero-LEDs). It usually requires two functional molecules to realize defect passivation and carrier injection regulation separately. In other words, developing one single molecule possessing these capabilities remains challenging. Herein, we utilized π-conjugated fluorene derivatives as surface treatment materials, 9,9-Spirobi[fluorene] (SBF), 9,9-Spirobifluoren-2-yl-diphenylphosphine oxide (SPPO1), and 2,7-bis(diphenylphosphoryl)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (SPPO13), to investigate the influence of their chemical structure on device optoelectronic performance, especially for defect passivation and carrier injection regulation. Consequently, the passivation capability of double-bonded SPPO13 surpassed single-bonded SPPO1 and nonbonded SBF, which all showed excellent electron transport properties, enhancing electron injection. The maximum external quantum efficiencies (EQE) for Pero-LEDs treated with SBF, SPPO1, and SPPO13 were 8.13, 17.48, and 22.10%, respectively, exceeding that of the derivative-free device (6.55%). Notably, SPPO13-treated devices exhibited exceptional reproducibility, yielding an average EQE of 20.00 ± 1.10% based on 30 devices. This result emphasizes the potential of tailored fluorene derivatives for enhancing the device performance of Pero-LEDs.

The family Sisoridae is one of the largest and most diverse Asiatic catfish families, with most species occurring in the water systems of the Qinhai-Tibetan Plateau and East Himalayas. At present, the phylogenetic relationship of the Sisoridae is relatively chaotic. In this study, the mitochondrial genomes (mitogenomes) of three species Creteuchiloglanis kamengensis, Glaridoglanis andersonii, and Exostoma sp. were systematically investigated, the phylogenetic relationships of the family were reconstructed and to determine the phylogenetic position of Exostoma sp. within Sisoridae. The lengths of the mitogenomes' sequences of C. kamengensis, G. andersonii, and Exostoma sp. were 16,589 bp, 16,531 bp, and 16,529 bp, respectively. They all contained one identical control region (D-loop), two ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs), 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs) and 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes. We applied two approaches, Bayesian Inference (BI) and Maximum Likelihood (ML), to construct phylogenetic trees. Our findings revealed that the topological structure of both ML and BI trees exhibited significant congruence. Specifically, the phylogenetic tree strongly supports the monophyly of Sisorinae and Glyptosternoids and provides new molecular biological data to support the reconstruction of phylogenetic relationships with Sisoridae. This study is of great scientific value for phylogenetic and genetic variation studies of the Sisoridae.

To maintain, develop and rationally utilize marine organisms, understanding their genetic structure and habitat adaptation pattern is necessary. Konosirus punctatus, which is a commercial fish species inhabiting the Indo-west Pacific Ocean, has shown an obvious annual global capture and aquaculture production decline due to climate changes and human activities. In the present study, restriction-site associated DNA sequencing (RAD-seq) was used to describe its genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphisms panel (SNPs). Among 146 individuals collected at nine locations scattered in China, Korea and Japan, a set of 632,090 SNPs were identified. Population genetic analysis showed that K. punctatus individuals were divided into two significant genetic clusters. Meanwhile, potential genetic differentiation between northern and southern population of K. punctatus was found. Treemix results indicated that gene flow existed among sampling locations of K. punctatus, especially from southern Japan to others. Moreover, candidate genes associated with habitat adaptations of K. punctatus were identified, which are involved in diverse physiological processes of K. punctatus including growth and development (e.g., KIDINS220, PAN3), substance metabolism (e.g., PGM5) and immune response (e.g., VAV3, CCT7, HSPA12B). Our findings may aid in understanding the possible mechanisms for the population genetic structure and local adaptation of K. punctatus, which is beneficial to establish the management and conservation units of K. punctatus, guiding the rational use of resources, with reference significance for a profound understanding of the adaptative mechanisms of other marine organisms to the environment. Moutan Cortex (MC) has been used in treating inflammation-associated diseases and conditions in China and other Southeast Asian countries. However, the active components of its anti-inflammatory effect are still unclear. The study aimed to screen and identify potential cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors in MC extract. The effect of MC on COX-2 was determined in vitro by COX-2 inhibitory assays, followed by bio-affinity ultrafiltration in combination with ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (BAUF-UPLC-MS). To verify the reliability of the constructed approach, celecoxib was applied as the positive control, in contrast to adenosine which served as the negative control in this study. The bioactivity of the MC components was validated in vitro by COX-2 inhibitor assay and RAW264.7 cells. Their in vivo anti-inflammatory activity was also evaluated using LPS-induced zebrafish inflammation models. Finally, molecular docking was hired to further explore the internal interactions between the components and COX-2 residues. The MC extract showed an evident COX-2-inhibitory effect in a concentration-dependent manner. A total of 11 potential COX-2 inhibitors were eventually identified in MC extract. The COX-2 inhibitory activity of five components, namely, gallic acid (GA), methyl gallate (MG), galloylpaeoniflorin (GP), 1,2,3,6-Tetra-O-galloyl-ß-D-glucose (TGG), and 1,2,3,4,6-Penta-O-galloyl-ß-D-glucopyranose (PGG), were validated through both in vitro assays and experiments using zebrafish models. Besides, the molecular docking analysis revealed that the potential inhibitors in MC could effectively inhibit COX-2 by interacting with specific residues, similar to the mechanism of action exhibited by celecoxib. In conclusion, BAUF-UPLC-MS combining the molecular docking is an efficient approach to discover enzyme inhibitors from traditional herbs and understand the mechanism of action.

Long-term human smelting activities have resulted in substantial heavy metals (HMs) pollution of farmland soils around smelting sites, and the safety of farmland products is critical for human health. The current study focuses on HMs in farmland soils surrounding a single smelter, therefore the impact of smelting on a national scale needs to be investigated further. This study was based on 116 papers and 1143 sets of relevant data for meta-analysis, and a hierarchical mixed-effects model was used to quantify the changes of HMs concentrations in farmland soils affected by non-ferrous metal smelting on a national scale, as well as their relationships with relevant explanatory variables in China. Results showed that: (i) non-ferrous metal smelting substantially increased farmland soils HMs concentrations (323%), with each HM concentration increasing in the following order: Cd (2753%) > Pb (562%) > Hg (455%) > Zn (228%) > Cu (158%) > As (107%) > Ni (52%); (ii) the highest increase of HMs in vegetable fields (361%), but not significant in comparison to other farmland categories, and the increase of Pb, Zn, Cu and As concentrations were significantly different in different types of smelting areas; (iii) the increase of Hg was significantly higher in the northern region than in the southern region, and the opposite increase of Cu; (iv) the soil depth from 0 to 40 cm was significantly affected by smelting, and the increase of multiple HMs were significantly positively correlated with soil pH and negatively correlated with distance; (v) the other explanatory variables (farmland category and soil organic matter) were not significantly related to the effect of smelting. The results can provide some reference for protecting and restoring farmland soils around smelting areas.

Understanding the genetic structure and the factors associated with adaptive diversity has significant implications for the effective management of wild populations under threat from overfishing and climate change. The common hairfin anchovy (Setipinna tenuifilis) is an economically and ecologically important pelagic fish species, spanning a broad latitudinal gradient along marginal seas of the Northwest Pacific. In this study, we constructed the first reference genome of S. tenuifilis using PacBio long reads and high-resolution chromosome conformation capture (Hi-C) technology. The assembled genome was 798.38 Mb with a contig N50 of 1.43 Mb and a scaffold N50 of 32.42 Mb, which were anchored onto 24 pseudochromosomes. A total of 22,019 genes were functionally annotated, which accounted for 95.27% of the predicted protein-coding genes. Chromosomal collinearity analysis revealed chromosome fusion or fission events in Clupeiformes species. Three genetic groups of S. tenuifilis were revealed along the Chinese coast using restriction site-associated DNA sequencing (RADseq). We investigated the influence of four bioclimatic variables as potential drivers of adaptive divergence in S. tenuifilis, suggesting that these environmental variables, especially sea surface temperature, may play important roles as drivers of spatially varying selection for S. tenuifilis. We also identified candidate functional genes underlying adaptive mechanisms and ecological tradeoffs using redundancy analysis (RDA) and BayeScan analysis. In summary, this study sheds light on the evolution and spatial patterns of genetic variation of S. tenuifilis, providing a valuable genomic resource for further biological and genetic studies on this species and other closely related Clupeiformes.

BACKGROUND: Embolization is a common treatment method for tumor-targeting, anti-organ hyper-function, and hemostasis. However, the injection of embolic agents largely depends on the experiences of doctors, and doctors need to work in an X-ray environment that hurts their health. Even for a well-trained doctor, complications such as ectopic embolism caused by excessive embolic agents are always inevitable. RESULTS: This paper established a flow control curve model for embolic injection based on local arterial pressure. The end-vessel network was simplified as a porous media. The hemodynamic changes at different injection velocities and embolization degrees were simulated and analyzed. Sponge, a typical porous medium, was used to simulate the blocking and accumulation of embolic agents by capillary networks in the in vitro experimental platform. CONCLUSIONS: The simulation and experimental results show that the local arterial pressure is closely related to the critical injection velocity of the embolic agent reflux at a certain degree of embolization. The feasibility of this method for an automatic embolic injection system is discussed. It is concluded that the model of the flow control curve of embolic injection can effectively reduce the risk of ectopic embolism and shorten the time of embolic injection. The clinical application of this model is of great value in reducing radiation exposure and improving the success rate of interventional embolization.

Reptiles can evolve adaptive colors in different environments, but relatively little is known about the genetic mechanisms. Here, we identified the MC1R gene and its association with intraspecific color variation in the lizard Phrynocephalus erythrurus. Analysis of the MC1R sequence in 143 individuals from dark South Qiangtang Plateau (SQP) and light North Qiangtang plateau (NQP) populations, revealed two amino acid sites that showed significant differences in frequency between two areas. One SNP, corresponding to Glu183Lys residue, was found to be a highly significant outlier and differentially fixed for SQP and NQP populations. This residue is located in an extracellular area in the second small extracellular loop within the secondary structure of MC1R, which represents an "attachment pocket" part of the 3D structure. Cytological expression of MC1R alleles with the Glu183Lys replacement showed a 39 % increase in intracellular agonist-induced cyclic AMP levels and a 23.18 % greater cell surface expression of MC1R protein in the SQP relative to the NQP allele. Further in silico 3D modeling and in vitro binding experiments indicated a higher MC1R-α-MSH binding for the SQP allele, and elevated melanin synthesis. We provide an overview of how a single amino acid replacement leads to fundamental changes in MC1R function, and hence shapes variation in dorsal pigmentation in lizards from different environments.

Fibroblast activation protein-alpha (FAP) is a transmembrane serine protease involving in tissue remodeling. Previous studies report that FAP is highly expressed in certain tumors and participated in oncogenesis. However, there is still lack of systematic and in-depth analysis of FAP based on clinical big data. Here, we comprehensively map the FAP expression profile, prognostic outcome, genetic alteration, immune infiltration across over 30 types of human cancers through multiple datasets including TCGA, CPTAC, and cBioPortal. We find that FAP is up-regulated in most cancer types, and increased FAP expression is associated with advanced pathological stages or poor prognosis in several cancers. Furthermore, FAP is significantly correlated with the infiltration of cancer-associated fibroblasts, macrophages, myeloid dendritic cells, as well as endothelia cells. Immunosuppressive checkpoint proteins or cytokines expression, microsatellite instability and tumor mutational burden analysis also indicate the regulation role of FAP in tumor progression. Gene enrichment analysis demonstrates that ECM-receptor interaction as well as extracellular matrix and structure process are linked to the potential mechanism of FAP in tumor pathogenesis. The ceRNA network is also constructed and identified the involvement of LINC00707/hsa-miR-30e-5p/FAP, LINC02535/hsa-miR-30e-5p/FAP, LINC02535/hsa-miR-30d-5p/FAP, as well as AC026356.1/hsa-miR-30d-5p/FAP axis in tumor progression. In conclusion, our study offers new insights into the oncogenic and immunological role of FAP from a pan-cancer perspective, providing new clues for developing novel targeted anti-tumor strategies.

Macrophage-derived inflammatory cytokines are critical for host defense against Talaromyces marneffei (T. marneffei) infection among HIV/AIDS patients, and excessive inflammatory cytokines are associated with poor outcomes of AIDS-associated talaromycosis. However, the underlying mechanisms of macrophage-caused pyroptosis and cytokine storm are poorly understood. Here, in the T. marneffei-infected mice and macrophages, we show that T. marneffei induced pyroptosis in macrophages through the NLRP3/caspase-1 pathway. The immunomodulatory drug thalidomide could promote the pyroptosis of macrophages infected T. marneffei. In T. marneffei-infected mice, the splenic macrophages underwent increasing pyroptosis as talaromycosis deteriorated. Thalidomide ameliorated inflammation of mice, while amphotericin B (AmB) in combination with thalidomide did not improve overall survival compared with AmB alone. Taken together, our findings suggest that thalidomide promotes NLRP3/caspase-1-mediated pyroptosis of macrophages in T. marneffei infection.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Compound Agrimony (FuFangXianHeCao, FFXHC) Enteritis Capsules is an ethnomedicine that is derived from Yi Nationality Herbal Medicine for enteritis treatment. We found that FFXHC reduced the mortality outcomes in enterogenic Candida albicans infected mice models and increased the abundance of Lactobacillus murinus in the intestines. Lactobacillus murinus exhibited comparable therapeutic effects to those of FFXHC in enterogenic Candida albicans infected mice. This study provides novel perspectives into the pharmacological mechanisms of FFXHC. AIM OF THE STUDY: We investigated the mechanisms via which FFXHC inhibits C. albicans infections and its effects on L. murinus. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Enterogenous C. albicans infection mice models were established and various parameters, including survival rate, weight change, number of colonies, treatment effects on intestinal mucosa, microecology, and immune cytokines evaluated. Susceptibility of C. albicans to L. murinus was evaluated in vitro. RESULTS: Treatment with FFXHC reduced the number of colonies, improved the health status, enhanced the survival rates, increased the abundance of L. murinus, reduced damage to the intestinal mucosa, and elevated occludin as well as claudin-1 levels. Interestingly, TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-10, IL-22, and IL-17A levels were increased while IL-1ß levels were suppressed in the intestinal mucosa without any change in peripheral blood cytokine levels. Moreover, FFXHC promoted L. murinus proliferation. This study also confirmed the incubation-dependent anti-C. albicans effects exerted by the metabolic supernatants of L. murinus. CONCLUSIONS: FFXHC effectively alleviated intestinal infections of C. albicans in mice and increased the abundance of L. murinus. Supplementation of L. murinus in food can achieve the effects that are comparable to those of FFXHC. Thus, L. murinus maybe essential in FFXHC-based treatment of intestinal C. albicans infections.

Chinese pine is a Chinese endemic species with important ecological functions. Forest gaps and slope aspect are important factors in the regeneration of Chinese pine by influencing light and moisture, but what these effects are is still up for debate. Meanwhile, the effects of forest gaps and slope aspect are poorly studied in response to different forest types and ages, as well as temperature and precipitation. We established literature selection criteria that finally identified 101 and 69 pairs of study cases on forest gaps and slope aspect, respectively. The overall effect values were obtained by meta-analysis and found that gap and shady slope habitats had significant positive effects on the regeneration density of Chinese pine (P < 0.05). The gap most enhanced the regeneration density in a plantation setting (P < 0.05). In pure stands of Chinese pine, shady slopes can significantly increase regeneration density (P < 0.05). Forest gaps and shady slopes contributed most to Chinese pine regeneration density in mature stands compared to near mature stands, and over mature stands (P < 0.05). There was no significant effect of stand gap size on regeneration density (P > 0.05). In particular, the edges of the gap appeared to be well-suited for regeneration (P < 0.05). In our study area, mean annual precipitation resulted in a significant increase in the effects of the gap and shady slope as precipitation declined (P < 0.05). This meta-analysis helps elucidate the effects of forest gap (position or area) and slope aspect on Chinese pine regeneration. With global climate change, Chinese pine regeneration may prefer the edge of forest gaps and shady slopes.

BACKGROUND: In this study, the complete mitogenome of Hemigrapsus sinensis was the first identified and analyzed. OBJECTIVE: The complete mitochondrial genome of Hemigrapsus sinensis (Brachyura, Grapsoidea, Varunidae) and its phylogenetic position within Grapsoidea. METHODS: The sample of Hemigrapsus sinensis was collected and DNA was extracted. After sequencing, NOVOPlasty was used for sequence assembly. Annotate sequences with MITOS WebServer, tRNAscan-SE2.0, and NCBI database. MEGA was used for sequence analysis and Phylosuite was used for phylogenetic tree construction. DnaSP was used to calculate Ka/Ks. RESULTS: This mitochondrial genome shows that it was 15,900 bp and encoded 13 PCGs, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and one control region. The genome composition tends to A + T (74.34%) and presents a negative GC-skew (- 0.22) and AT-skew (- 0.03). The PCGs initiation codon was the typical ATN and termination codon was the typical TAN, incomplete T or missing. The ML and BI trees showed that H. sinensis was most closely related to Hemigrapsus and clustered together with the Varunidae. And our phylogenetic trees provide proof that Ocypodoidea and Grapsoidea may be of common origin. Meanwhile, in the phylogenetic tree, parallel mixing of Chiromantes and Orisarma raised doubts over the traditional classification system. Besides, Incomplete Lineage sorting (ILS) was observed in Varunidae. In the subsequent analysis of evolution rate, we found that all of the PCGs (NAD4 was not calculated) had undergone negative selections, indicating the conservation of mitochondrial genes of H. sinensis during the evolution. CONCLUSION: Therefore, researching the complete mitogenome of H. sinensis would be contributing to molecular taxonomy, phylogenetic relationship, and breeding optimization within the Grapsoidea superfamily.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Zingiberis Rhizoma (ZR) and Zingiberis Rhizoma Carbonisata (ZRC), as two forms of ginger-based herbal drugs used in China for at least 2000 years, have been recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeia and applied for specific indications in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). AIM OF THE STUDY: The present study aimed to explore the underlying therapeutic and processing mechanism of the absorbed components of ZR and ZRC on deficiency-cold and hemorrhagic syndrome (DCHS) using network pharmacological technique combined with pharmacokinetics strategy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this study, a rapid and sensitive approach was conceived to simultaneously determine the seven components (zingiberone, 6-gingerol, 8-gingerol, 6-shogaol, 6-paradol, diacetyl-6-gingerol and 10-gingerol) in rat serum by HPLC-DAD-MS. The network pharmacological technique was employed to evaluate the effect of the absorbed components of ZR and ZRC on DCHS. Also, the vitro experiments were carried out to validate the functions of the seven compounds on coagulation and other major haematological effects. RESULTS: The values of intra-assay and inter-assay precision were determined to be less than 7.44%, with an accuracy value ranging from 83.64% to 107.99%. Analysis of rat plasma revealed that the extraction recoveries and matrix effects of the seven analytes were >85.76%. The method for validation following oral administration of ZR and ZRC to rats was proved to be a success in the pharmacokinetic study of the seven ingredients. Pharmacokinetics showed that ZR processing could enhance the absorption and utilization of 6-shogaol, 6-paradol and diacetyl-6-gingerol, meanwhile reduce the absorption of 6-gingerol, 8-gingerol, and 10-gingerol. Through the pathway enrichment analysis, it was found that the significant biological process of ZR and ZRC on DCHS was primarily associated with complement, coagulation cascades and platelet activation pathways. The vitro experiments indicated that zingiberone, 6-paradol and diacetyl-6-gingerol had a hemostatic effect by upregulating the expression of one or more targets such as TNF-α, FⅩa, FⅫ, FⅧ, ICAM-1, vWF and ITGB3. While 6-gingerol, 6-shogaol, 8-gingerol and 10-gingerol played a critical role in promoting blood circulation by increasing the expression of TM and/or PORC, and/or reducing the expression of ITGB3. CONCLUSION: In brief, network pharmacological technique in combination with pharmacokinetics strategy provided an applicable method for pharmacological mechanism study of ZR and ZRC, which, also, could be used as reference for quality control of the two drugs. In a broader sense, this combined strategy might even be valuable in uncovering the therapeutic and processing mechanism of Chinese herbs on a systematic level.

A model subspace configuration interaction method is developed to obtain chemically accurate electron correlations by diagonalizing a very compact effective Hamiltonian of a realistic molecule. The construction of the effective Hamiltonian is deterministic and implemented by iteratively building a sufficiently small model subspace comprising local clusters of a small number of Slater determinants. Through the low-rank reciprocal of interaction Hamiltonian, important determinants can be incrementally identified to couple with selected local pairwise clusters and then downfolded into the model subspace. This method avoids direct ordering and selection of the configurations in the entire space. We demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of this theory for obtaining the near-FCI ground- and excited-state potential energies by benchmarking the C2 molecule and illustrate its application potential in computing accurate excitation energies of organometallic [Cu(NHC)2(pyridine)2]x+ complexes and other organic molecules of various excitation character.

BACKGROUND: Currently, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has become a global chronic idiopathic disease with ever-rising morbidity and prevalence. Accumulating evidence supports the IBD-hygiene hypothesis that helminths and their derivatives have potential therapeutic value for IBD. Clonorchis sinensis (C. sinensis) mainly elicit Th2/Treg-dominated immune responses to maintain long-term parasitism in the host. This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic effects of cysteine protease (CsCP) and adult crude antigen (CsCA) of C. sinensis, and C. sinensis (Cs) infection on DSS-induced colitis mice. METHODS: BALB/c mice were given 5% DSS daily for 7 days to induce colitis. During this period, mice were treated with rCsCP, CsCA or dexamethasone (DXM) every day, or Cs infection which was established in advance. Changes in body weight, disease activity index (DAI), colon lengths, macroscopic scores, histopathological findings, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity levels, regulatory T cell (Treg) subset levels, colon gene expression levels, serum cytokine levels, and biochemical indexes were measured. RESULTS: Compared with Cs infection, rCsCP and CsCA alleviated the disease activity of acute colitis more significant without causing abnormal blood biochemical indexes. In comparison, rCsCP was superior to CsCA in attenuating colonic pathological symptoms, enhancing the proportion of Treg cells in spleens and mesenteric lymph nodes, and improving the secretion of inflammatory-related cytokines (e.g., IL-2, IL-4, IL-10 and IL-13) in serum. Combined with RNA-seq data, it was revealed that CsCA might up-regulate the genes related to C-type lectin receptor and intestinal mucosal repair related signal pathways (e.g., Cd209d, F13a1 and Cckbr) to reduce colon inflammation and benefit intestinal mucosal repair. Dissimilarly, rCsCP ameliorated colitis mainly through stimulating innate immunity, such as Toll like receptor (TLR) signaling pathway, down-regulating the expression of inflammatory cytokines (e.g., IL-12b, IL-23r and IL-7), thereby restraining the differentiation of Th1/Th17 cells. CONCLUSIONS: Both rCsCP and CsCA showed good therapeutic effects on the treatment of acute colitis, but rCsCP is a better choice. rCsCP is a safe, effective, readily available and promising therapeutic agent against IBD mainly by activating innate immunity and regulating the IL-12/IL-23r axis.

Interventional embolization therapy is widely used for procedures such as targeted tumour therapy, anti-organ hyperactivity and haemostasis. During embolic agent injection, doctors need to work under X-ray irradiation environment. Moreover, embolic agent injection is largely dependent on doctors' experience and feelings, and over-injection of embolic agent can lead to reflux, causing ectopic embolism and serious complications. As an effective way to reduce radiation exposure and improve the success rate of interventional embolization therapy, embolic agent injection robot is highly anticipated, but how to decide the injection flow velocity of embolic agent is a problem that remains to be solved. On the basis of fluid dynamics simulation and experiment, we established an arterial pressure-injection flow velocity boundary curve model that can avoid reflux, which provides a design basis for the control of embolic agent injection system. An in vitro experimental platform for injection system was built and validation experiments were conducted. The results showed that the embolic agent injection flow speed curve designed under the guidance of the critical flow speed curve model of reflux could effectively avoid the embolic agent reflux and shorten the embolic agent injection time. Exceeding the flow speed limit of the model would lead to the risk of embolization of normal blood vessels. This paper confirms the validity of designing the embolic agent injection flow speed based on the critical flow speed curve model of reflux, which can achieve rapid injection of embolic agent while avoiding reflux, and provide a basis for the design of the embolic agent injection robot.

An integrated digital magnetic resonance imaging spectrometer was proposed in this study. By using the FPGA chip Artix7 200T, timing control, data processing, digital frequency conversion and phase control were implemented into a single-chip, thus effectively improved timing accuracy and phase accuracy, while avoided the structural design complexity caused by multi-board connection and improved system integration and imaging quality.
