RESUMO

This study conducted a comprehensive analysis of trace element concentrations in the Upper Indus River Basin (UIRB), a glacier-fed region in the Western Himalayas (WH), aiming to discern their environmental and anthropogenic sources and implications. Despite limited prior data, 69 samples were collected in 2019 from diverse sources within the UIRB, including mainstream, tributaries, and groundwater, to assess trace element concentrations. Enrichment factor (EF) results and comparisons with regional and global averages suggest that rising levels of Zn, Cd, and As may pose safety concerns for drinking water quality. Advanced multivariate statistical techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA), absolute principal component scores (APCS-MLR), Monte Carlo simulation (MCS), etc were applied to estimate the associated human health hazards and also identified key sources of trace elements. The 95th percentile of the MCS results indicates that the estimated total cancer risk for children is significantly greater than (>1000 times) the USEPA's acceptable risk threshold of 1.0 × 10-6. The results classified most of the trace elements into two distinct groups: Group A (Li, Rb, Sr, U, Cs, V, Ni, TI, Sb, Mo, Ge), linked to geogenic sources, showed lower concentrations in the lower-middle river reaches, including tributaries and downstream regions. Group B (Pb, Nb, Cr, Zn, Be, Al, Th, Ga, Cu, Co), influenced by both geogenic and anthropogenic activities, exhibited higher concentrations near urban centers and midstream areas, aligning with increased municipal waste and agricultural activities. Furthermore, APCS-MLR source apportionment indicated that trace elements originated from natural geogenic processes, including rock-water interactions and mineral dissolution, as well as anthropogenic activities. These findings underscore the need for targeted measures to mitigate anthropogenic impacts and safeguard water resources for communities along the IRB and WH.

Emergence delirium is a common postoperative complication in patients undergoing general anesthesia, especially in children. In severe cases, it can cause unnecessary self-harm, affect postoperative recovery, lead to parental dissatisfaction, and increase medical costs. With the widespread use of inhalation anesthetic drugs (such as sevoflurane and desflurane), the incidence of emergence delirium in children is gradually increasing; however, its pathogenesis in children is complex and unclear. Several studies have shown that age, pain, and anesthetic drugs are strongly associated with the occurrence of emergence delirium. Alterations in central neurophysiology are essential intermediate processes in the development of emergence delirium. Compared to adults, the pediatric nervous system is not fully developed; therefore, the pediatric electroencephalogram may vary slightly by age. Moreover, pain and anesthetic drugs can cause changes in the excitability of the central nervous system, resulting in electroencephalographic changes. In this paper, we review the pathogenesis of and prevention strategies for emergence delirium in children from the perspective of brain electrophysiology-especially for commonly used pharmacological treatments-to provide the basis for understanding the development of emergence delirium as well as its prevention and treatment, and to suggest future research direction.

Spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have emerged as a major source of waste due to their low recovery rate. The physical disposal of spent LIBs can lead to the leaching of their contents into the surrounding environment. While it is widely agreed that hazardous substances such as nickel and cobalt in the leachate can pose a threat to the environment and human health, the overall composition and toxicity of LIB leachate remain unclear. In this study, a chemical analysis of leachate from spent LIBs was conducted to identify its primary constituents. The ecotoxicological parameters of the model organism, rotifer Brachionus asplanchnoidis, were assessed to elucidate the toxicity of the LIB leachate. Subsequent experiments elucidated the impacts of the LIB leachate and its representative components on the malondialdehyde (MDA) level, antioxidant capacity, and enzyme activity of B. asplanchnoidis. The results indicate that both the LIB leachate and its components are harmful to individual rotifers due to the adverse effects of stress-induced disturbances in biochemical indicators, posing a threat to population development. The intensified poisoning phenomenon under combined stress suggests the presence of complex synergistic effects among the components of LIB leachate. Due to the likely environmental and biological hazards, LIBs should be strictly managed after disposal. Additionally, more economical and eco-friendly recycling and treatment technologies need to be developed and commercialized.

Background: Both early detection and treatment for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) have positively affected prognosis. A microRNA, miRNA-21 (miR-21), may have additional diagnostic potential for ACS among the others. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the potential role of miR-21 in identifying ACS. Methods: PubMed, EMBASE and CENTRAL databases were searched up to March 17, 2024, for case-control and cohort studies assessing the diagnostic value of circulating miR-21 in patients with ACS. The search was limited to studies published in either English or Chinese. The primary outcome was the discriminative ability to circulate miR-21 for ACS, represented by the area under the standard receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) analysis. Meta-analyses combined the AUCs using a random-effects model. Heterogeneity among the studies was detected by the I2 and Q statistics. The quality of the studies included was assessed using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2. Publication bias analysis was assessed constructing by the Egger's test (PROSPERO: CRD42020209424). Results: Eleven case-control studies containing a total of 2,413 subjects with 1,236 ACS cases and 1,177 controls were included. The mean age of participants in these studies ranges between 51.0 and 69.0 years. The meta-analysis showed an overall pooled AUC of 0.779 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.715-0.843], with high heterogeneity noted between the studies (Q statistic =190.64, I2=94.23%, P<0.001). In subgroup analyses according to the subtypes of ACS, a pooled AUC of 0.767 (95% CI: 0.648-0.887) was derived from the studies focused on acute myocardial infarction cases only. The pooled AUC for unstable angina was 0.770 (95% CI: 0.718-0.822). In subgroup analyses according to the types of control groups, pooled AUC for ACS versus healthy controls was 0.779 (95% CI: 0.715-0.843), whereas the pooled AUC for ACS versus unhealthy controls was 0.740 (95% CI: 0.645-0.836). The quality assessment showed that the studies' overall quality was moderate. No evidence of publication bias was noted (P=0.49). Conclusions: Circulating miR-21 shows abilities to differentiate between ACS and non-ACS, suggesting its potential as a novel diagnostic biomarker for ACS. However, the evidence is weakened by high heterogeneity observed among the studies. Further research is essential before it can be applied in clinical practice.

The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of ternary systems consisting of meloxicam with cyclodextrins (HP-ß-CD or SBE-ß-CD) and different polymers (HA, HPMC and PVP) on the stability of meloxicam. The t 0.9 values of meloxicam were determined within all the aforementioned systems and the influence of various polymers on the alteration in meloxicam's stability was evaluated. All three polymers altered the stability of meloxicam to varying degrees, with the extent of the effect being related to hydrophilicity, concentration of components, and the interaction of the newly formed ternary system. Among them, meloxicam demonstrated its highest degree of stabilization within the ternary system formed by SBE-ß-CD&HPMC and HP-ß-CD&HA. We characterized the ternary system of meloxicam using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy analysis, which determined the presence of ternary system inclusions. In addition, we investigated the optimized prescription of eye drops of meloxicam using the ternary system and further determined that the ternary system improved the stability of the drug in liquid formulations.

Electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) for CH4 production presents a promising strategy to address carbon neutrality, and the incorporation of a second metal has been proven effective in enhancing catalyst performance. Nevertheless, there remains limited comprehension regarding the fundamental factors responsible for the improved performance. Herein, the critical role of Pd in electrocatalytic CO2 reduction to CH4 on Cu-based catalysts has been revealed at a molecular level using in situ surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). A "borrowing" SERS strategy has been developed by depositing Cu-Pd overlayers on plasmonic Au nanoparticles to achieve the in situ monitoring of the dynamic change of the intermediate during CO2RR. Electrochemical tests demonstrate that Pd incorporation significantly enhances selectivity toward CH4 production, and the Faradaic efficiency (FE) of CH4 is more than two times higher than that for the catalysts without Pd. The key intermediates, including *CO2-, *CO, and *OH, have been directly identified under CO2RR conditions, and their evolution with the electrochemical environments has been determined. It is found that Pd incorporation promotes the activation of both CO2 and H2O molecules and accelerates the formation of abundant active *CO and hydrogen species, thus enhancing the CH4 selectivity. This work offers fundamental insights into the understanding of the molecular mechanism of CO2RR and opens up possibilities for designing more efficient electrocatalysts.

Deep learning approaches for multi-label Chest X-ray (CXR) images classification usually require large-scale datasets. However, acquiring such datasets with full annotations is costly, time-consuming, and prone to noisy labels. Therefore, we introduce a weakly supervised learning problem called Single Positive Multi-label Learning (SPML) into CXR images classification (abbreviated as SPML-CXR), in which only one positive label is annotated per image. A simple solution to SPML-CXR problem is to assume that all the unannotated pathological labels are negative, however, it might introduce false negative labels and decrease the model performance. To this end, we present a Multi-level Pseudo-label Consistency (MPC) framework for SPML-CXR. First, inspired by the pseudo-labeling and consistency regularization in semi-supervised learning, we construct a weak-to-strong consistency framework, where the model prediction on weakly-augmented image is treated as the pseudo label for supervising the model prediction on a strongly-augmented version of the same image, and define an Image-level Perturbation-based Consistency (IPC) regularization to recover the potential mislabeled positive labels. Besides, we incorporate Random Elastic Deformation (RED) as an additional strong augmentation to enhance the perturbation. Second, aiming to expand the perturbation space, we design a perturbation stream to the consistency framework at the feature-level and introduce a Feature-level Perturbation-based Consistency (FPC) regularization as a supplement. Third, we design a Transformer-based encoder module to explore the sample relationship within each mini-batch by a Batch-level Transformer-based Correlation (BTC) regularization. Extensive experiments on the CheXpert and MIMIC-CXR datasets have shown the effectiveness of our MPC framework for solving the SPML-CXR problem.

BACKGROUND: Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a significant cause of childhood stroke and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs). This study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) in children with MMD. METHODS: In a single-center pilot study, 46 MMD patients aged 4 to 14 years, with no history of reconstructive surgery, were randomly assigned to receive either RIC or sham RIC treatment twice daily for a year. The primary outcome measured was the cumulative incidence of major adverse cerebrovascular events (MACEs). Secondary outcomes included ischemic stroke, recurrent TIA, hemorrhagic stroke, revascularization rates, and clinical improvement assessed using the patient global impression of change (PGIC) scale during follow-up. RIC-related adverse events were also recorded, and cerebral hemodynamics were evaluated using transcranial Doppler. RESULTS: All 46 patients completed the final follow-up (23 each in the RIC and sham RIC groups). No severe adverse events associated with RIC were observed. Kaplan-Meier analysis indicated a significant reduction in MACEs frequency after RIC treatment [log-rank test (Mantel-Cox), P = 0.021]. At 3-year follow-up, two (4.35%) patients had an ischemic stroke, four (8.70%) experienced TIAs, and two (4.35%) underwent revascularization as the qualifying MACEs. The clinical improvement rate in the RIC group was higher than the sham RIC group on the PGIC scale (65.2% vs. 26.1%, P < 0.01). No statistical difference in cerebral hemodynamics post-treatment was observed. CONCLUSIONS: RIC is a safe and effective adjunct therapy for asymptomatic children with MMD. This was largely due to the reduced incidence of ischemic cerebrovascular events.

Objective To evaluate the value of SOX1 and PAX1 gene methylation detection in the secondary triage of high-grade cervical lesions.Methods Exfoliated cervical cells were collected from 122 patients tested positive for human papilloma virus (HPV) and subjected to thin-prep cytologic test (TCT) and SOX1/PAX1 gene methylation tests.Results The HPV test combined with TCT showed the sensitivity of 95.24% and the specificity of 23.75% for detecting cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) grade 2 and above (CIN2+).After the addition of the SOX1/PAX1 gene methylation detection in secondary triage,the sensitivity for detecting CIN2+ was 83.33%,which had no statistically significant difference from the sensitivity of TCT combined with HPV test (P=0.078).However,the specificity reached 77.50%,which was significantly higher than that of HPV test combined with TCT (P<0.001).The SOX1/PAX1 gene methylation level in the CIN2+ group was higher than those in the normal cervical tissue and the CIN1 group(P<0.001).The cut-off values of SOX1 and PAX1 gene methylation for CIN2+ detection were -11.81 and -11.98,respectively.Conclusion Adding the detection of SOX1/PAX1 gene methylation in secondary triage significantly improves the efficiency and accuracy of CIN2+ detection.

The enzyme phospholipase A2 (PLA2) plays a crucial role in acyl remodeling of phospholipids via the Lands' cycle, and consequently alters fatty acid compositions in triacylglycerol (TAG). In this study, a full-length cDNA sequence coding Myrmecia incisa phospholipase A2 (MiPLA2) was cloned using the technique of rapid amplification of cDNA ends. Comparison of the 1082-bp cDNA with its corresponding cloned DNA sequence revealed that MiPLA2 contained 3 introns. Mature MiPLA2 (mMiPLA2) had a conserved Ca2+-binding loop and a catalytic site motif that has been recognized in plant secretory PLA2 (sPLA2) proteins. Correspondingly, phylogenetic analysis illustrated that MiPLA2 was clustered within GroupXIA of plant sPLA2 proteins. To ascertain the function of MiPLA2, the cDNA coding for mMiPLA2 was subcloned into the vector pET-32a to facilitate the production of recombinant mMiPLA2 in Escherichia coli. Recombinant mMiPLA2 was purified and used for the in vitro enzyme reaction. Thin-layer chromatography profiles of the catalytic products generated by recombinant mMiPLA2 indicated a specificity for cleaving sn-2 acyl chains from phospholipids, thereby functionally characterizing MiPLA2. Although recombinant mMiPLA2 displayed a strong preference for phosphatidylethanolamine, it preferentially hydrolyzes arachidonic acid (ArA) at the sn-2 position of phosphatidylcholine. Results from the fused expression of p1300-sp-EGFP-mMiPLA2 illustrated that MiPLA2 was localized in the intercellular space of onion epidermis. Furthermore, the positive correlation between MiPLA2 transcription and free ArA levels were established. Consequently, the role of mMiPLA2 in the biosynthesis of ArA-rich TAG was elucidated. This study helps to understand how M. incisa preferentially uses ArA to synthesize TAG.

Histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) was a potential target for Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, a series of novel oxyevodiamine-based HDAC6 inhibitors with a variety of linker moieties were designed, synthesized and evaluated. Compound 12 with a benzyl linker was identified as a high potent and selective HDAC6 inhibitor. It inhibited HDAC6 with an IC50 value of 6.2 nM and was more than 200 fold selectivity over HDAC1. It also had lower cytotoxicity and higher anti-H2O2 activity in vitro comparing with other derivatives. Compound 12 might be a good lead as novel HDAC6 inhibitor for the treatment of AD.

The citrus red mite, Panonychus citri, is one of the most notorious and devastating citrus pests around the world that has developed resistance to multiple chemical acaricides. In previous research, we found that spirodiclofen-resistant is related to overexpression of P450, CCE, and ABC transporter genes in P. citri. However, the regulatory mechanisms of these detoxification genes are still elusive. This study identified all hormone receptor 96 genes of P. citri. 8 PcHR96 genes contained highly conserved domains. The expression profiles showed that PcHR96h was significantly upregulated in spirodiclofen resistant strain and after exposure to spirodiclofen. RNA interference of PcHR96h decreased expression of detoxification genes and increased spirodiclofen susceptibility in P. citri. Furthermore, molecular docking, heterologous expression, and drug affinity responsive target stability demonstrated that PcHR96h can interact with spirodiclofen in vitro. Our research results indicate that PcHR96h plays an important role in regulating spirodiclofen susceptibility and provides theoretical support for the resistance management of P. citri.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the quality of guidelines on the pancreatic perioperative enhanced recovery after surgery both domestically and internationally, providing reference and reference for clinical practice. METHODS: Systemically retrieved in the guideline websites, professional association websites and databases, such as up to date, BMJ Best Practice, PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wan Fang Data, China Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP), China Biology Medicine disc (CBMdisc), Medlive, Guidelines International Network(GIN), National Guideline Clearinghouse(NGC), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence(NICE), Registered Nurses Association of Ontario(RNAO), Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network(SIGN), Joanna Briggs Institute Library(JBI), including guidelines and expert consensus on enhanced postsurgical recovery in pancreatic surgery published as of December 20, 2023. The Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II(AGREE II) tool was applied to evaluate the quality of the guidelines by four assessors. RESULTS: This study included seven guidelines, all of which were rated as Grade B in terms of quality, with ICC coefficients ranging from 0.752 to 0.884, indicating a high level of consistency. CONCLUSION: When formulating guidelines in the future, it is recommended to use AGREE II as a reference, emphasizing the standardization of the guideline development process and methods, fully considering patients' values and preferences, focusing on the applicability of the guidelines, and striving to create high-quality evidence-based recommendations.

Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and discharge are often tightly coupled, though these relationships in karst environments remain poorly constrained. In this study, DOC dynamics over 13 hydrological events, alongside monthly monitoring over an entire hydrological year were monitored in a small karst catchment, SW China. The concurrent analyses of power-law model and hysteresis patterns reveal that DOC behavior is generally transport-limited due to flushing effects of increased discharge but highly variable at both intra- and inter-event scales. The initial discharge at event onset and discharge-weighted mean concentration of DOC ([DOC]DW) of individual events can explain 37.7 % and 19.9 % of the variance of DOC behavior among events, respectively. The sustained dry-cold antecedent conditions make DOC hysteresis behavior during the earliest event complex and different from subsequent events. At event scale, the variability in DOC export is primarily controlled by [DOC]DW (explaining 64.3 %) and the yield of total dissolved solutes (YTDS, explaining 30.4 %), reflecting the impacts of variable hydrological connectivity and intense soil-water-rock interactions in this karst catchment. On an annual scale, DOC yield (YDOC, 222.86 kg C km-2) was mostly derived during the wet season (98.19 %) under the hydrological driving force. The difference in annual YDOC between this karst catchment and other regions can be well explained by annual water yield (Ywater, explaining 24.2 %) and [DOC] (explaining 35.4 %), whereas the variance in DOC export efficiency among catchments is almost exclusively controlled by [DOC] alone, independent of drainage area and annual Ywater. This study highlights the necessity of high-frequency sampling for modeling carbon biogeochemical processes and the particularity of the earliest hydrological events occurred after a long cold-dry period in karst catchments. Under the changing climate, whether DOC dynamics in karst catchments will present source-limited patterns during more extreme hydrological events merits further study.

Developing high-performance electrodes for the all-aqueous thermally regenerative ammonia battery (ATRB) system, serving as superior substitutes for commercial carbon cloth electrodes, is anticipated to enhance performance, yet it lacks effective guidance and research. In this work, theoretical analysis is initially used to evaluate the effective conversion and adsorption capacity of nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon with respect to copper ion by density functional theory calculation. On the basis of this concept, the nitrogen and sulfur co-doped biomass-derived porous carbon electrode (DGC) is prepared using natural porous carbon materials and thiourea. Compared with commercial carbon cloth electrodes, ATRB with DGC achieves a significant improvement in maximum power density of 49.2%. Via optimization of the doping conditions, the active sites can be effectively regulated to boost charge transfer at the reaction interface. Furthermore, the rapid charge transfer can match the excellent mass transfer performance, generating an impressive net power density of 847.5 W/m2.

This study investigates the efficacy of pyrite in enhancing biohydrogen production from xylose at low temperature (20 °C). Higher hydrogen yield rates (Rm) and reduced lag time (λ) were achieved across initial xylose concentrations ranging from 2-10 g/L. At an optimal xylose concentration of 5 g/L, pyrite reduced λ by 2.5 h and increased Rm from 1.3 to 2.7 mL h-1. These improvements are attributed to pyrite's ability to enhance the secretion of extracellular polymeric substance and flavins, facilitate NADH and NAD+ generation and transition, and favor biohydrogen production. Thermodynamic analyses and Gibbs free energy calculations further elucidated pyrite's role in the full reaction process and rate-limiting steps at low temperature. This study offers valuable insights into improving the efficiency of biohydrogen production at low temperature, with significant implications for energy conservation.

The clinical efficacy of neoadjuvant immunotherapy plus chemotherapy remains elusive in localized epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Here, we report interim results of a Simon's two-stage design, phase 2 trial using neoadjuvant sintilimab with carboplatin and nab-paclitaxel in resectable EGFR-mutant NSCLC. All 18 patients undergo radical surgery, with one patient experiencing surgery delay. Fourteen patients exhibit confirmed radiological response, with 44% achieving major pathological response (MPR) and no pathological complete response (pCR). Similar genomic alterations are observed before and after treatment without influencing the efficacy of subsequent EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in vitro. Infiltration and T cell receptor (TCR) clonal expansion of CCR8+ regulatory T (Treg)hi/CXCL13+ exhausted T (Tex)lo cells define a subtype of EGFR-mutant NSCLC highly resistant to immunotherapy, with the phenotype potentially serving as a promising signature to predict immunotherapy efficacy. Informed circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) detection in EGFR-mutant NSCLC could help identify patients nonresponsive to neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy. These findings provide supportive data for the utilization of neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy and insight into immune resistance in EGFR-mutant NSCLC.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignant tumor that occurs in the liver, with a high degree of malignancy and relatively poor prognosis. Gypenoside L has inhibitory effects on liver cancer cells. However, its mechanism of action is still unclear. This study aims to investigate the inhibitory effects of gypenoside L on HCC in vitro and in vivo, and explore its potential mechanisms. The results showed that gypenoside L reduced the cholesterol and triglyceride content in HepG2 and Huh-7 cells, inhibited cell proliferation, invasion and metastasis, arrested cell cycle at G0/G1 phase, promoted cell apoptosis. Mechanistically, it targeted the transcription factor SREPB2 to inhibit the expression of HMGCS1 protein and inhibited the downstream proteins HMGCR and MVK, thereby regulating the mevalonate (MVA) pathway. Overexpression HMGCS1 led to significant alterations in the cholesterol metabolism pathway of HCC, which mediated HCC cell proliferation and conferred resistance to the therapeutic effect of gypenoside L. In vivo, gypenoside L effectively suppressed HCC growth in tumor-bearing mice by reducing cholesterol production, exhibiting favorable safety profiles and minimal toxic side effects. Gypenoside L modulated cholesterol homeostasis, enhanced expression of inflammatory factors by regulating MHC I pathway-related proteins to augment anticancer immune responses. Clinical samples from HCC patients also exhibited high expression levels of MVA pathway-related genes in tumor tissues. These findings highlight gypenoside L as a promising agent for targeting cholesterol metabolism in HCC while emphasizing the effectiveness of regulating the SREBP2-HMGCS1 axis as a therapeutic strategy.

BACKGROUND: The role of novel circular RNAs (circRNAs) in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains to be determined. This study aimed to identify a novel circRNA involved in CRC pathogenesis, assess its diagnostic value, and construct a regulatory network. METHODS: Differential expression analysis was conducted using circRNA datasets to screen for differentially expressed circRNAs. The expression of selected circRNAs was validated in external datasets and clinical samples. Diagnostic value of plasma circRNA levels in CRC was assessed. A competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network was constructed for the circRNA using TCGA dataset. RESULTS: Analysis of datasets revealed that hsa_circ_101303 was significantly overexpressed in CRC tissues compared to normal tissues. The upregulation of hsa_circ_101303 in CRC tissues was further confirmed through the GSE138589 dataset and clinical samples. High expression of hsa_circ_101303 was associated with advanced N stage, M stage, and tumor stage in CRC. Plasma levels of hsa_circ_101303 were markedly elevated in CRC patients and exhibited moderate diagnostic ability for CRC (AUC = 0.738). The host gene of hsa_circ_101303 was also found to be related to the TNM stage of CRC. Nine miRNAs were identified as target miRNAs for hsa_circ_101303, and 27 genes were identified as targets of these miRNAs. Subsequently, a ceRNA network for hsa_circ_101303 was constructed to illustrate the interactions between the nine miRNAs and 27 genes. CONCLUSIONS: The study identifies hsa_circ_101303 as a highly expressed circRNA in CRC, which is associated with the progression of the disease. Plasma levels of hsa_circ_101303 show promising diagnostic potential for CRC. The ceRNA network for hsa_circ_101303 provides valuable insights into the regulatory mechanisms underlying CRC.

Background: This study addresses the predictive modeling of Enlarged Perivascular Spaces (EPVS) in neuroradiology and neurology, focusing on their impact on Cerebral Small Vessel Disease (CSVD) and neurodegenerative disorders. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 587 neurology inpatients, utilizing LASSO regression for variable selection and logistic regression for model development. The study included comprehensive demographic, medical history, and laboratory data analyses. Results: The model identified key predictors of EPVS, including Age, Hypertension, Stroke, Lipoprotein a, Platelet Large Cell Ratio, Uric Acid, and Albumin to Globulin Ratio. The predictive nomogram demonstrated strong efficacy in EPVS risk assessment, validated through ROC curve analysis, calibration plots, and Decision Curve Analysis. Conclusion: The study presents a novel, robust EPVS predictive model, providing deeper insights into EPVS mechanisms and risk factors. It underscores the potential for early diagnosis and improved management strategies in neuro-radiology and neurology, highlighting the need for future research in diverse populations and longitudinal settings.
