RESUMO

PURPOSE: To investigate the preparedness, perceived stress, risk of depression, and quality of life of family caregivers of patients receiving a temporary enterostomy, to provide a reference for improving the long-term care and quality of life of patients receiving a temporary enterostomy. METHODS: We enrolled 181 family caregivers of patients in a hospital in China from 2021 to 2023. Responses to the General Information Questionnaire, the Chinese Caregiver Preparedness Scale, the Chinese Perceived Stress Scale, the Chinese bilingual version of the Patient Health Questionnaire-2, and the 12-item Short Form Survey were collected online. RESULTS: Pearson's correlation analysis revealed that family caregivers' risk of depression was negatively correlated with their preparedness, the physical component summary score, and the mental component summary score but was positively correlated with perceived stress. Multiple linear regression analysis identified factors influencing caregiver preparedness. CONCLUSIONS: These findings help healthcare personnel to identify high-risk individuals among family caregivers of patients receiving a temporary enterostomy. This provides a basis for formulating well-planned, dynamic health education programs that meet patients' needs for disease-related knowledge and care.

RESUMO

A phosphor-converted light-emitting diode (pc-LED) is a prime light source in smart broadband near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. The performance of NIR pc-LEDs crucially depends on the employed NIR luminescent materials. In this study, we synthesized a novel high-efficiency broadband NIR phosphor, CaY2Mg2Ge3O12:Cr3+ (CYMG:Cr3+). Under 450 nm excitation, CYMG:Cr3+ exhibited remarkable broadband NIR emission from 650 to 900 nm with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 115 nm. Within the CYMG lattice, the Cr3+ ion occupies Ca/Y sites in the dodecahedron Ca/YO8 and Mg sites in the octahedron MgO6, giving rise to two distinct Cr3+ luminescence centers. Remarkably, the emission at 100 °C remained at 92% of its room temperature intensity and 81% at 150 °C, showcasing its exceptional thermal stability. The internal quantum efficiency (IQE) reached an impressive 81.1%, with an activation energy ΔE of 0.324 eV. Furthermore, we integrated the CYMG:Cr3+ phosphor with a commercial 450 nm blue chip to fabricate a micro NIR pc-LED, which exhibited stable NIR emission across different driving currents, with a NIR output power of 49.65 mW@400 mA and a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 10.52% at 20 mA. All findings highlight CYMG:Cr3+ as a stable and efficient broadband luminescent material for high-performance NIR LEDs.

RESUMO

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a formidable disease due to the intricate mechanisms that drive its proliferation and metastasis. Despite significant progress in cancer research, the integration of these mechanisms that influence cancer cell behavior remains elusive. Therefore, it is imperative to comprehensively elucidate the underlying mechanisms driving CRC proliferation and metastasis. In this study, we reported a novel role of SLC26A3 in suppressing CRC progression. We found that SLC26A3 expression was downregulated in CRC, which was proportionally correlated with survival. Our in vivo and in vitro experiments demonstrated that up-regulation of SLC26A3 inhibited CRC proliferation and metastasis, while down-regulation of SLC26A3 promoted CRC progression by modulating the expression level of IκB. Furthermore, we identified NHERF2 as a novel interacting protein of SLC26A3 responsible for stabilizing the IκB protein and removing ubiquitination modification. Mechanistically, SLC26A3 augmented the interaction between NHERF2 and IκB, subsequently reducing its degradation. This process inhibited the dissociation of p65 from the IκB/p65/p50 complex and reduced the translocation of p65 from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. Moreover, our investigation revealed that NF-κB/p65 directly bound to the promoter of SLC26A3, leading to a decline in its mRNA expression. Thus, SLC26A3 impeded the nuclear translocation of NF-κB/p65, enhancing the transcription of SLC26A3 and establishing a positive regulatory feedback loop in CRC cells. Collectively, these results suggest that a SLC26A3/NHERF2-IκB/NF-κB/p65 signaling loop suppresses proliferation and metastasis in CRC cells. These findings propose a novel SLC26A3-driven signaling loop that regulates proliferation and metastasis in CRC, providing promising therapeutic interventions and prognostic targets for the management of CRC.

RESUMO

Oxides are physically and chemically stable. Non-contact thermometer-Yb3+-Er3+ ions co-doped solid solution (Y0.5In0.5)2O3, is prepared by the regular solid method. The structural results obtained by XRD indicate that a pure phase solid solution (Y0.5In0.5)2O3 has been obtained. The solid solution (Y0.5In0.5)2O3 has a similar crystal structure, especially Y2O3 and In2O3 with the same space group (Ia3̄). Green emission from 500 to 600 nm is due to Er3+ 4f-4f transitions: 4S3/2 → 4I15/2 at 567 nm and 2H11/2 → 4I15/2 at 528 nm. Red emissions from 630 to 720 nm are attributed to Er3+: 4F9/2 → 4I15/2. UC luminescence changes greatly with laser diode power and Er3+ and Yb3+ content. Furthermore, the two-photon process is confirmed to be dominant between Yb3+ and Er3+ in oxide solid solution (Y0.5In0.5)2O3. Optical temperature sensitivity is also investigated systematically in order to explore the application of the oxide solid solution (Y0.5In0.5)2O3. The temperature-dependent green fluorescence at 528 and 567 nm was investigated with the range of 313-573 K. 0.316% K-1 is the maximum absolute sensitivity at 503 K, which is higher than most Yb3+/Er3+ co-doped systems. In addition, the solid solution (Y0.5In0.5)2O3:Yb3+,Er3+ has better thermal stability and stronger UC emission than a simple substance with excellent temperature sensing performance. It indicates that Yb3+-Er3+ ions co-doped (Y0.5In0.5)2O3 solid solution is a good candidate for optical temperature sensing.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the relationship between burn-out, emotional labour and psychological resilience of gastroenterology nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic and explore the factors associated with these specific variables. DESIGN: A multicentre cross-sectional study with anonymous self-reporting was conducted from 24 November 2021 to 26 December 2021. SETTING: The study was conducted in Fujian Province, China. PARTICIPANTS: The participants were 345 gastroenterology nurses from 7 tertiary hospitals. PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES: Burn-out, emotional labour and psychological resilience were the primary outcome measures. Using a convenience sampling method, the data were collected using Questionnaire Star (a tool for questionnaire surveys) via WeChat. The Chinese version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory, the Chinese version of the Emotional Labour Scale and the Chinese version of the Psychological Resilience Scale were used to evaluate burn-out, emotional labour and psychological resilience, respectively. RESULTS: The total scores for burn-out, emotional labour and psychological resilience in gastroenterology nurses were 53.07±19.63, 38.79±12.22 and 69.97±22.38, respectively, with less use of deep acting and more use of surface acting. Pearson correlation analysis showed that burn-out was positively correlated with two dimensions of emotional labour; surface acting and emotional expression, and negatively correlated with deep acting. There was a negative correlation between emotional labour and all three dimensions of psychological resilience. CONCLUSIONS: Greater adoption of deep acting by nurses can be promoted by improving their psychological resilience during events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which can help improve emotional labour, thereby reducing burn-out and decreasing turnover rates. Senior management in hospitals must pay attention to nurses' psychological status. Further interventional studies could be conducted in the future to explore relevant measures.
